The Men Of TVB

I've compiled a list of leading men and supporting characters from TVB that are the reasons why I will dig your eyeballs out when you disturb me at 8.00-10.30pm on weekdays. If you can't stand me and my TVBness, then skip this entry. To all the other TVB Kakis...enjoy! **Warning: Nudity!**

Gallen Lo-42 years of age. Unbelievable right?
He has been acting even before I knew how to switch on the tv. Gallen has always been given main roles. He is so versatile which is why Gallen is everyone's favourite. I like him because he is so cocky! Always playing leading men who breaks the girls' hearts. Always. Married with a son. Currently on W-Files, 9.30, WLT!! :)

Bobby Au Yeung-40 odd also. He is NOT hot. But his acting skills are really really fantastic. He must be one of the funniest man on TVB. Seldom see him these days besides shows like Armed Reaction(1,2,3,4) and Witness to A Prosecution(1,2). He doesn't get other series much as he's always busy filming the sequels to the two series. Sequels suck. Married.

I LOVE ELLESMERE CHOI!! 33 years of age! I don't know why, but he is always getting supporting roles. I think he has been in enough series to prove that he CAN be a leading man! I think my earliest memory of him was from Armed Reaction 3.. where he played Ada's lover but got sent to jail in the end. Currently in the 8.30 show.. I think he gets quite a big role there. Though he just doesn't fit that stern look he's trying to portray. HoHoHo. Why do I like him so? Because whenever his characters are supposed to fall in love, THAT look on his face makes me so.."lum". Er, weak in the knees! Whenever Ellesmere's character gets lovey-dovey, I start talking to the tv ie. telling the girl to just strip him naked and kiss his ... well. Let's go to the next one.

Evergreen mak. Stupid Name. He is usually given asshole roles but in recent time, TVB has been giving him good guy's roles and yes, he has proved to us that he is not so much of an asshole. Due to the fact that TVB's leading men have been leaving one by one(joining more profitable mainland productions), Evergreen has been given a leading role in one of TVB's series. He has lost alot of weight, he actually looks better!

*air liur meleleh* This is Hawick Lau, son of Lau Dan(The king in Virtues of Harmony 1 and the big boss in Virtues of Harmony 2). His acting skills have yet to appeal to me. Though he is DEFINITELY hot. Love his boyish smile. He was also the son to Lau Dan's character in A Kindred Spirit. So yeah, he's old. About 30. Was dating Bernice Liu for awhile. (Jessica in Survivor Law, The Princess in Virtues of Harmony1). Last seen as the eunuch to Bernice Liu's character in Virtues of Harmony 1.

The epitome of hot. JOE MA ROCKS!!!!! He's about 35. Unfortunately for us, he's married with a 6 year old son. I first saw him in At The Treshold Of An Era back in 2000.. and he was damn evil. DAMN DAMN DAMN EVIL. (i like...). Remember? He was Donald?? There was one scene where he found out that he's asshole-ness resulted in his son's death, and he wriggled on the floor while howling(crying).. and all his family members were standing around him. His character was very evil and ended up with HIV in the end, remember? After that, TVB started giving him such good roles..all nice guy roles. He seldom gets the starring role to himself, usually has to share the limelight with others. But DAMN ISN'T HE HOT?!

Julian Cheung. I think he's quite old also. He has also been acting even before I learnt how to turn the tv on. How do these actors all stay so young? Everybody will remember him from Return of the Cuckoo. But I prefer it when he acts as a funny sarcastic guy! I think he has already shown us all that he has to offer.. so, he is quite good looking, but I don't exactly look forward to his shows.

Michael Tong, 37/38.. I'm not sure. The right pic is a scene from W-Files. Showing now too!! Usually given gangster roles and best-friend-to-the-main-actor roles. He is getting old already and TVB is still making him second fiddle. Sigh. I get excited whenever he appears in any series. But his characters seldom make me talk to the tv.

Moses Chan, 33. I KNOW. I thought he was at least 40. But he was just UGLY in Where The Legend Begins.. yuck. Then he started to look good in the modern series. Maybe he is one of those actors who just DON'T look good in ancient dramas. Always given multi-purpose-hero roles. Also very very funny. Love his body though.

Hm. I wonder why I once liked Nick Cheung. Mun Teng once told me that Nick Cheung's shows are basically for money. Very degrading shows.. but I found them all very funny! Hahaha. There was one gambling movie he did, and he was known as a very unlucky person, and the reason he was unlucky was because his ancestors burial site had a toilet built over it. LOL. After watching Legendary Four Aces(2002), I told Kay Hong that he looks ALOT like Nick Cheung. There was one scene in Ups and Downs in The Sea Of love, where Maggie Cheung slaps him and the look on his face was similiar to Kay Hong's baru-kena beaten up look.

Patrick Tang, 30s. One of the best TVB themesong singers. Very cocky character too. Though he is hot in a way.. but not exactly something to rave about.

Now this... this is.. GOOD. Raymond Lam,25, hailed as the NEW Louis Koo. Uncanny resemblance,no? I once told Eugene Lim that he looks alot like Raymond Lam(esp his character in Survivor Law, has the same glasses as Eugene). Heavily promoted, been getting main roles one after another. His role in Golden Faith was similiar to Orlando Bloom's role in Troy. Young and wimpy. But he blew me away in Survivor Law! Really starting to like him! He should be given more funny guy roles! I love funny guys!

Roger Kwok, 40s. Yes, yes, I thought he was in his late 20s too. Apparently he has been acting since 1985. I couldn't even turn on the tv then if I wanted to. I first saw him in At The Treshold Of An Era. I thought he looked alot like Yijin in THAT show. His most memorable role would definitely be Ah Wong in Square Pegs. Very good acting skills. I loved To Get Unstuck In Time. If you're not renting, you'll get to watch it next year on Astro. VERY VERY VERY GOOD SERIES!!! He gets main roles but alongside actors like Gallen Lo, he will usually be given supporting roles. But it's not too bad, we've been seeing him alot this year. I'm not complaining. Only thing he's short though. =\

STEVEN MA... thought I'd leave him out, didn't you?? Of course not. He is 33 years old already.. My mother and I adore him sooooo much.(I think she is more crazy than me, she listens to all his songs before she sleeps). First saw him in Return of The Cuckoo and fell in love with him there. He is always the main character in all the series that he is in. But they are far and few in between. Really really loved his acting in Perish In The Name Of Love. Made me cry so much. Ho Ho Ho.:) He tried being funny in Better Halves, but no... no..he must stick to his love-sick characters. I talk to the tv too whenever he appears. Like when he says something sweet to his love interest, I will sub-conciously reply. =|

I think I'll go get some Chemistry done.

Two Years Back

For nearly two years I've been procrastinating this. I've been meaning to get the Interact gathering pics from Melissa(chong) since 2002. I finally got it done. This gathering was held for all who went for the Interact Conference 2002 given that they are from the school's under the Rotaract Club of Bandar Sunway. hahaha.. Shit, too much statistics. The lot of us were from Subang Utama, Seafield and SS17:) What fun. We had alot of fun that few weeks... I think our camwhore days stemmed from that era.

After the Interact conference, all of us would meet online(those days ICQ still existed in our computers) and we'd open chatrooms and talk to the wee hours! The stupidest topic ever. We would have been great together, but after Ken left for Australia(he left when we were all enjoying each other's stupidness so much), all of us kind of grew apart. No more silly chats, no more crazy spontaneous shits.

These are the pictures from the gathering at Kyle's place. It was also sort of a farewell party for Ken.

The lot of at Kyle's neighbourhood playground. Tealights everywhere.. very nice. That's me with the purple panties.

My "father" giving me away.

..and that's all from that Interact Gathering held two years ago. *sigh* :) Those of you who have access to my shutterfly, do check the folder that says, "Kyle's Gathering."..more pictures there..:) I can't post them here. I have to protect the privacy of some people:) My own too. ;) ;) ;)

Here are some random photos from recent days:

Whenever I come home from a paper, I would strike out each paper with silver glitter nail polish! 7 down, 6 more to go!

My brother said his handwriting has gone from bad to worse since PMR. Erm, ... there's another level of cakar-ayamness before illegible?

So I wrote him some examples to follow.:)

I then made him copy a sentence.

Haha.. fail!!

Angel drew me a picture of a whale just now. Thought I'd share it with you. Her parents were more artistic. Once Shi Ling drew the map of America for me(to clean).

Not Now

Despite having my statistics exam tomorrow, I've decided to come here to muse a little about this juicy piece of information from Hsin Ee's blog.

Someone from our school just got married. At 19.

I know it's not new, but when it happens so close to home, it makes you think. Nobody confirmed if it was shotgun or not.. and it COULD be true love. It really could.

Is she willing to give up her happening clubbing life? What about education? I don't know who's the husband.. heck, I hardly know the bride, but if he is a rich man's son, she'll obviously not need to work her ass off.  Can anyone have an early retirement(aka homemaking) at 19? There're not many people in that situation to be considered 'peers'. Being married at that age doesn't leave you with many people to relate to. If the guy is a middle-class/poor man..then it'll always be a nice romantic happy ever after thing when the couple work hard together to make their marriage work and bring children into the world. The only con I can think of is being able to relate to their child as their age gap is definitely close. Please note that everything in this paragraph are just my assumptions. I do not want to judge her decision. It's her life.

If I was to get married at this age I'd be running for my life. I have had alot of weird dreams these days. I was wed off suddenly without any warning and wearing strange things like a chi-pou(akin to cheongsam, but usually used for weddings). The strange part is that I knew that I would not be happy, but I still go on with the ceremony. There's this Joy Luck Club feel to it. Remember the scene where the young bride(16yo) was thrown into a room naked with the 15yo groom(who started laughing at her naked body)? Yeah that's the same feeling. In my dreams, the groom usually has this startled expression on his face.. and I cannot remember what goes on after that, as the dream proceeds, without his presence. By the way, the grooms in my dreams were a few different people. Hahaha. Will not name them, but they are all just friends, some only acquaintances. Sometimes I'm like "Ew! Why him of all human beings?!"

During the weddings in my dream, I have this suffocating feeling. Feelings of being trapped. I know very well that I shouldn't be doing this(getting married), but yet I have no control of my body. It's very scary, it is. Maybe this is confirming the level of my maturity. I have not reached the mindset for marriage. Perhaps my biological clock is still ticking along, a lifetime away before the alarm goes off.

The worst scenario of my (present)life will be to fall pregnant. That will be the ultimate shit. Hahaha, not like I have the chance to play around with that factor.. but still, IF I'm considered half decent that day will surely come, no? Ahem.
If I react strongly to things like getting involved in minor road accidents, what will happen to me if I DO get pregnant? Hahaha. I know what will happen to me. I'll die of dread. I'll dread that I'll have to tell my DAD that. Will I keep the baby? Will I lose the baby? What kind of man will be the type to impregnate me? Will he take full responsibility? Hm? Hm? But being me, you give me a period of 9 months, it's more than enough for everyone around me to become extremely supportive and for me to actually look forward to life with a baby. But no doubt, the first few moments will be the worst feelings ever. No one should have to go through those feelings. The dreaded feelings of having to tell your father. The wagging tongues of friends ain't too bad. But grandmother have wagged her tongue, and she created quite a gust of wind too at that whenever a cousin falls pregnant. (Happened a couple of times, it did.). Imagine the shame I'll bring to her and the rest of my family if I do. If any of your grandmothers are like mine, PLEASE do not fall pregnant. You wouldn't want Australia, USA, UK, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and (strangely), Taiwan to know within a few days. By the way, that happened to me when I first got my period. Within three days, words of congrats were sent from UK and Australia.

Some parents will encourage marriage to "pRoTeCt The FaMiLY hOnoUR!". But duh, you get married at 17, what honour is there left? Tongues will definitely wag. Even if it isn't a shotgun marriage, people will assume it's a shotgun marriage. Ah, true love schmue love. If it's so damn true, then just wait until you're about 24 the very least. If true love prevails, what's another 7 years? :) A good example will be the Prince And Me. He's going to wait for her till she graduates from medical school!

I read from friendster, one of my ex-love interest's current gf talked about marriage with him. "It's true! We're gonna get married in 5 years' time! He said so himself!". Hmm. Yeah. Sure. I'm sorry, maybe some people can understand what this is all about. But I'm very sure ALOT of us are still scared of the idea of having to-be-together-forever-and-ever.

I would never give up the best years of my life to become a wife. If the man is perfect for me, we will enjoy those years together before the first sign of wrinkle appears and eventually the wedding rings will be slipped on. No worries.

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
