That Barbecue Party

We had a barbecue party for a get-to-know-each-other session in a barbecue park here in Sg. Petani. It was fun because most of us dentistry people knew almost everyone already. I didn't blog about it because the following week, my grandparents passed away, as you know, and I was just too busy and had forgotten all about it.
Now that the sun is up again, I'll be sharing it with all of you.

Li Shen and Wuan Phing chilling in the backseat of Cze-Yin's car. We were waiting for the party to start as we came right after our last class(5.30pm to 7.30pm).

It's quite a nice place to go pak-toh because they have nice yellow low lights everywhere in the park and bbq pits with nice authentic wooden tables.

l-r: Thong, Li Shen, Yan Rui, Nien, Josiah.

l-r: Sett and Chuan Hong

It's really really convenient because they have a counter where you can choose what you want and they'll put it in a bag for you and you can bring it to the pit to cook it yourself. You don't have to bring your own food so it's not that great a hassle. Do they have such things back in the Klang Valley?

Now we know why Maxis had that look on...

This photo is too confusing to name. I know all their names, but just not sure how to explain.

The authentic barbecue pit.

Poh Yee barbecuing some satay sticks!

l-r: Xin Yi and Angela. Doesn't Angela reminds you of Jade Ho?

A horrible picture but since when do I care about horrible photos.
l-r: Jimmy and me.

A cool photo of Maxis.

We gathered for around of card games.. truth and dare. Yes, we still play that.

Maxis conducting the games.

One of the dares were to switch shirt.

Jimmy looks seriously disturbing in Zhu Zen's shirt. HAHAHYA. Plus the butterflies running down his torso.

Maxis looks just as bad in Carol's. lol.

Another dare was to dirty dance.... they just couldn't do it. *itches to dirty dance*

Another dare was to carry Jimmy..

I got a card... but it was a faulty round so I didn't get to do any DaRes.:)

Class photo!!

Ah... the nice low lights illuminating us. l-r: Me, Poh Yee, Nien and Cze-Yin.

Li Shen and Yan Rui posing. It was my idea!! This can be used as a movie poster;D

Life Without A Stove

Here in Kedah, Tesco is like the best place to hang out. At the mention of the word Tesco, everybody would crowd around and ask if they can come along.

It is that sad.

But Tesco really gives you everything you need! I got a little creative with the little resources that I have and thought of cooking dinner for the housemates. When Narjit heard about my dinner plans, she laughed at me and said, "EH, that's not cooking lah, just mixing."

Fine. But what's a girl to do when you're not allowed to have a stove in the hostel?
I made maggi mee with a nice concoction of oyster+tomato sauce. Mmm.

We are damn pityful okay? We had to use a metal bowl to put the maggi inside and pour hot water into it and cover it with another plate. I chopped some cabbage and put in as well so that it would get soft(though not properly cooked. ;( )

This is the best part: I would then pour a dollop of oyster sauce and another dollop of tomato sauce. The now (hopefully) soft maggi mee would be put onto the place with the sauce and mixed thoroughly.

The maggi mee can then be served.

Li Shen said that she would have to go out for burger later that night. :(

Step one! Place maggi mee and cabbage in metal bowl!

Step two! Pour hot water!

Step three! Cover with plate!

Step four! Put oyster sauce and tomato sauce onto a clean plate!

Step five! Put mee onto plate and mix well! Looks good right?

Cze-Yin said it was inedible.

Me crying to the God of Cooking.

Alas, I found a fan in Xiong Khee. She wanted a few more plates but there were not enough maggi mee and she said it was no use even if I gave her four more plates because maggi mee is not filling enough.

For dessert, I cut some strawberries into pseudo-cubes and served it with a bowl of sugar to be dipped into. I LOVE STRAWBERRIES WITH SUGAR.

Somehow or other, strawberries make me damn hiau..

..this strawberry camwhoring urge is too irresistable..

.. this is the last one, promise!

Narjit said, "It's okayyy laaaaa.. but cafeteria food is just ABIT better than your cooking."

One more time!

Damn long never camwhore liao, can't blame me for the sudden influx of camwhoring. At least you get to see how the kitchen looks like! There's a good side in everything!

Oyster sauce roCksS!

This is how I mix the maggi mee. Watch and learn, bitch, watch and learn.

Wuan Phing was my assistant for the night.

Fat succulent strawberries. I know Chien will salivate at the sight of these juicy fruits. MMmmm!

Perhaps one of the better desserts I've had in months.

And most of them are right. My cooking sucks. I tasted it myself. :(

Adventures Of Jay The Squirrel: Ruffled Feathers

Jay The Squirrel and her other rodent tree-mates are starting to adapt to the tree that they were to live in in the Rodent Conservation Programme(RCP).

Things are more convenient now because Cici The Squirrel, Shannie the Squirrel and Kiki The Squirrel have brought their wheel burrows around to go to the bushes nearby to get their weekly supplies of nuts and berries.

Everynight, the seven rodents will gather around the little toadstools growing in the moister parts of the big oak tree and educate themselves on the benefit of the Rodent Conservation Programme(RCP).

However, a few of the squirrels feel a little different about Vinnie the hedgehog. It's not a matter of the difference in fur type but it's definitely a case of attitude. Vinnie the Hedgehod is a very nice hedgehog, generally. But there's such a thing as been too polite and it just irks the other rodents especially when they are trying to digest the tough activities set by the Rodent Conservation Programme.

All the rodents brought along their magic crystal balls which can aid their pursuit to attain a better understanding of the Rodent Conservation Programme. These magic crystal balls are perhaps the best creations to date. These rodents treasure these crystal balls very much and do almost everything with it. They communiciate with their other rodent friends back home, review their RCP activities on it and can even listen to the beautiful bird calls that these rodents so adore!

Well, everynight, Vinnie the Hedgehog would press grapevines on to the crystal ball so that the melodious bird calls do not disturb her tree-mates and put it to her furry ears and listen to it while she reviews her activities from the programme. However, she gets too engrossed with the bird calls and crows along unfortunately, not as melodious as the actual bird calls.

Jay The Squirrel sits on the toadstool next to Vinnie The Hedgehog and has to bear with the croaking Vinnie the Hedgehog. It's very inconsiderate because the rest of the rodents are trying very hard to concentrate on their Rodent Conservation Programme(RCP) activities. Vinnie the Hedgehog has abit of a breathing problem and her throat will vibrate before a sigh (which sounds disturbingly akin to a sigh of pleasure) is released. This happens every 2 seconds.

Jay The Squirrel is tugging at her fur in frustration.

Vinnie the Hedgehog likes to pat Jay The Squirrel on her back, giving Jay the Squirrel a nasty shock because she doesn't like to be called from the back when she is deep in thoughts, and would ask things like, "Eh, got nuts ar? I want to eat."

Jay The Squirrel knows she shouldn't have this type of mentality but the little things are starting to irk her. It's not a good attitude, but it's unavoidable.

Vinnie the Hedgehog has a tendency of borrowing everything because it's convenient. The rodents peer into the confusing tea leaves to gain a better understanding on the Rodent Conservation Programme(RCP) activities but Vinnie the Hedgehog just asks the simplest questions without touching her own tea leaves.

Jay The Squirrel should be more of a helpful rodent, but she can't help feeling annoyed. WHY WHY?!

It doesn't help that Vinnie The Hedgehog gets too polite and says things like, "You sure I can eat your nuts? Sure ar? Eh, don't angry you know. Really ar? You sure you don't mind? Seriously, don't mind? Really? I'm damn sorry, don't angry okay? You angry, I know you're angry. Eheh, Thanks ar, eh damn sorry lah. Eheh, you damn cute lah." At every sentence Jay The Squirrel will be nodding/shaking her head in a yes/no accordance yet Vinnie The Hedgehog will continue with these extreme act of politeness.

Jay The Squirrel will try to be a nicer squirrel because other than the annoying habits of Vinnie The Hedgehog, she's not too bad a rodent.

The other rodents in the tree will try to live happily ever after. So far so good.

And that was another episode of the Adventures of Jay The Squirrel.

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
