Of Buses and Trains (and planes)

Yesterday morning I walked into class and plonked the Langkawi budget list on Chien's table. The both of us pored over it for awhile and she suddenly told me, "Jo. they are taking plane."

She meant Zhuo Yan and Rambutan.

I won't mention Rambutan's real name here. Though it is VERY obvious who it is to people who have known us since primary school. This was his nickname in primary school. I wonder if he remembers it. And since later on in this entry there'll be something about him chasing after something but denying it..bla bla.. so I won't put his name here.

This is in hopes of deterring (big and scary)not-so-close-college-mates from looking up Rambutan and "questioning" him.

Anyway, a few nights ago I sent out an sms to Zhuo Yan, Barry and Rambutan telling them that they'll suffer the same fate as Abby(who didn't really suffer anything, but just to make it sound dramatic la) if they so much as CHANGE their plans to take the plane instead. I told them that if they're taking train, THEY. ARE. TAKING. TRAIN.

Now they're returning by plane. But they're going by train.

I was close to tears and I was farkin pissed. If the both of them don't go by train, then it'll only be me, barry and chee kiang on the train back and Chee Kiang is not even 110% confirmed. That'll be me and barry alone on the train if not.

Obviously we're taking the plane back too! Grrr!!

Chien said that Rambutan called her the night before and told her that I was very fierce with my warning and he was very scared of me.
And apparently he don't know how to tell me that he's taking plane back. The both of them. Zhuo Yan too.

Then I was so angry I started laughing and said, "WELL, I'll wait for them to call me. That's what I'll do. Make them panic. That's it."
I had an evil plan to make them even more guilty by sending them one of those "Friends forever and ever and ever and ever" messages that only form2 girls send out to their 'pet brothers and pet sisters'. You know those with the ugly teddy bears derived from the symbols you could find in your handphone that can 'move' when you scroll down? So there I was cracking my head, wondering which of my friends had these messages in abundance. The name Kay Hong came into my head immediately. (This is because he has this so called 'fan club' going on in SU who always bombards him with love proclamations.. ah-lalalalala...)

He sent me three! LOL. I took one of the "HaPPy FrIenDs FoREVER MiSs YoU sO mUChiES StAr STAR StAR SeE I wAsTe My MoNEy To SpOIl YoUR EyES By NoT KnoWiNG WhAt the FaRk ThIS Is.." messages and sent one to Rambutan and Zhuo Yan each.

I suppose an sms from JOLENE now will make them pee a little in their pants and will make them sweat somemore when they see it's one of these messages. I'm poisonous.

But what's the use?!!?!

This morning, I thought I could radiate some cold shoulder treatment to Rambutan (Zhuo Yan is sick today.) during break. So I went up to him and smiled sweetly and looked straight into his eyes. Then he took one step back and asked,"Handsome or not today?" HAIYOH!

Then I said, "Oh handsome...SO HANDSOME..I CAN'T TAKE MY EYES OF YOU LA"
The whole way to Success I was glaring at him and looking at him with one hand on my hip and he was looking away, somewhat distracted. He was beckoning all of us, 'ei, here la. No turn here. Woops.. Go there, go there. FASTer..."..
Obviously he was trying to follow THE girl again. But apparently she "shit went to market there to eat".

After a few more attempts of radiating the cold shoulder treatment ...I just gave up and said, "(Rambutan), Don't you have something to tell me?!?!" Then he was like, "OH ya!! Ahahaha.. ei me and Zhuo Yan coming back by plane!"

#*&$@#&$%&@$()#%+@+_)+_#$#&#)$*)#($*)#($@_)#+@_)#+_+@_#+@_

Can laugh somemore.

Then I bang him and said, "You know or not you should confirm with me!!! I was farkin close to tears when one by one everybody backed out on me you know or not?! Now because of you I have to spend more!"

To which he replied, "oh ahahha. Issit! Sorry la"

He said somemore, "HAhaha, somemore I thought today I changed hairstyle that's why Jolene looking at me."

An evil glare from me.

Rambutan: "Hahahahahahah"

Geeeeeeez.

When we sat down I scolded him non-stop and he said that "oh later la I tell Chien to book for me!" Then I said, "Haha, cannot adi. She booked liao. You want you book yourself." Then he said, "hah... aiyoh.. "

Barry was enjoying himself coz he was anticipating the arrival of Ms. Ang to give Rambutan another earful if Rambutan asks her to help him to book the tickets. As predicted, Chien already booked the tickets. And Rambutan had this dejected look on his face, that made me feel so bad for him. Haih..

Friends will always forgive each other. Ahahha. Kesian. Don't la put kesian face. I sympathize easily. Ahem.

I asked him again, "so you're going by train, coming back by plane right?"

Said he, "Should be la!"

;-_-.. I looked at him and said, "I don't like "should be la"s. I like Yes or Nos. So is it a yes or a no?"

Said he again, "Should be lor.."

*sweat*

Was checking out Andrew Tan(of Malaysian Idol fame)'s website and found his email add and proceeded to check out his friendster profile! Hahaha, as predicted I found two other Malaysian idols..Vick and Victor. Hmm, looks like they're adding fans even. And the testimonials they're getting are all due to their MI fame. Gee the testimonials are all so fake..it takes the fun out of Friendster. But it's great to know what kind of people are behind those facades you see on your television every Friday for the past 5-6 months.

This entry will kickstart the exam season! 7 weeks of exams. 2 papers a week.

Whooopeedo. hoo. .. ..... ..... whatever.

The Monster In Me

Friends of mine in the year 2002 would be able to remember "The Mountain Under Jolene's Chin". I had this huge pimple under my chin. But after awhile, it didn't show the same characteristics such as how a pimple would.(ie. forming a head, or bursting).

The 'pimple' was so incredibly disgusting and huge that gossips were flying around about it.
For instance, Daryl(Seow) who bumped into Mun Teng sometime in that year, "ei, You saw that pimple on Jolene ar? DAMN BIG WEI!"
Someone else told someoneelse(can't quite remember who).. "It looks like there were two 10 cent coins lodged underneath her skin!"

At that time, about Nov 2002, I was working at Sunway Pyramid's Nail Artz and almost every customer asked me about it and I would just smile graciously and say, "I don't know what it is." I did visit a doctor who prescribed some antibiotics to me and some cream to treat it. The cream did wonders. Within 12 hours, a layer of skin peeled away(sort of dissolved) and yellow pus oozed out and if I'm not careful, a bit of blood will ooze out too. Within a week, it was gone. But there's still a small scar underneath my chin.

This is how it looked like:

It was thudding and itching.. I think it was *slightly* subsided then. It was larger. Yea! I KNOW! IT WAS THAT HUGE!!

Well, my friends, the (end of)year 2004 brings you...... "The Mountain under Jolene's Chin TWO!" ......coming... near you.

Honest! Yesterday as I was on the net, I idly rubbed my chin and was shocked to find the monster appearing out of the blue!!
Don't believe?

I have proof:

Maybe the picture may portray what looks like a mosquito bite. But please don't let it deceive you. It feels HARD and SOLID and has quite a huge diameter to boot!

I have been told before that I'm the type who gets pimple when under stress. I googled Pimple+and+Stress. Apparently it's only a myth that stress causes acne but ANOTHER website said that when you're under stress, the brain releases a certain chemical which will induce productions of pimples. "Pimples" that do not have head are called Cysts.

Feeling worried, I googled "Cysts". But fortunately, I read something else that said, "Acne Cysts- Cysts are large, inflamed acne lesions that are filled with pus. They occur when the contents of a clogged pore seeps into the skin, thus producing a significant local immune response."

Apparently cysts and boils are co-related and therefore, I MUST be having a boil. I then googled "Boils".

1. What is a boil?
A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard.
Oooh!! Yes!! Check!

2. Who does it affect?
Teenagers-Most common on the face and typically occurs in the teenage years.
Doh.

Apparently I need to put a hot compressor over it. What's a hot compressor?

Sad Fucks Who Cry In Front Of The TV

Yup. That was me while watching the Malaysian Idol's Grand Finale Result Show. Ahahahaha. I know, i know. Just put me in your washing machines to shake some sense into me.

When they showed how far each and everyone of the contestant came before they got booted out, it was quite emotional. I tried to put myself in their shoes.

Bad bad move.

I started howling like a mad dog in front of the tv. I don't know why! Honestly! Then I saw the way Lee Kar Wei sang, was that her name? The girl in the second part of the show who kept begging for another chance but truly had a great voice.

Hahha.. I was bawling. With sound effects, yes. Thank god my parents attended the national kidney foundation charity dinner thingie and my brother attended Lianne letitia's birthday party so no one was at home to laugh at me. Maybe except my dog.
She is now bald and hairless and looks like a chi huahua. But that's not the point. She actually jumped onto the leg stool and peered at my face. HAHAHA. I was so tickled.

Of course I cried again when Julian the Quivering Chin took to the stage. Ahahaha

OH YES. When Syima sang Alicia Keys' Falling I cried somemore.

There were far too many ads in the final show and false alarms for me to run to the kitchen to tend to my maggi mee. I actually finished boiling my maggi mee and hoped that if I just turn off the fire and leave it in the water while I run to the tv and back.
Got carried away.

Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad move.

My maggi mee was so farkin soggy it actually fell apart and dissolved when I put it in my mouth.
Sob. First my disgusting looking stew. Then my disgusting looking lady fingers. Then now my dissolving maggi mee.

Nobody will ever marry me. ("What shit is this?! Fuck out of my house, bitch!" *Jolene gets kicked out of the marital home, literally*)

Haiya, I'll blame my culinary boo boo on Malaysian Idol.

As expected, Jac won. Congratulations to you, Jac.

My favourite part was when the 10 finalists came out to sing one after another. Brilliant. BRILLIANT.

OH BY THE WAY..
As I was watching the celebrities gracing the red carpet, I thought Douglas Lim would be there too. So, i ACTUALLY smsed Douglas Lim and asked him if he was at Malaysian idol. And you know what? He actually replied.

Me: Hi douglas!! Are you at malaysian idol??
Douglas Lim: No. I'm in kl.
Me: Right! I thought if you were there I could've seen you as one of the celebrities on the red carpet.
Douglas Lim:He...he...was invited but couldn't make it. Good that jac won though.
Me: Oh=/ Pity! Yea! She expected it already. Could c her expression. Anyway, hope you're well. Being a huge fan of yours, alot of ppl have asked me about your song with chui ling. Where can we get it?
Douglas Lim: Music canteen soon. Hopefully.
Me: Thanks! =)Goodnight.

Whooo!! O_O

Right. Just received an sms from Abby telling me that she and Chun Meng will be flying to Langkawi. 7-2 = how many? .. A grand total of FIVE on the train to langkawi. *does cartwheels all over the blog and bumps into hit counter and starts crying again*

12 people on the plane. 5 on the train.  YAY. SO NICE SO FUN. I'M SO HAPPY MAN.

I thought I could actually gather people to come with me on the train because of the outrageous price of the air tickets. I thought it was RM180 for both ways. I was mentally prepared  to accept the already outrageous price and suddenly Chien dropped another bomb. Due to the peak season, it was Rm234. I screamed bloody murder and vowed to cling on to Langkawi Ekspres(Hardly express, but it's RM80 both ways). I thought alot of people would be outraged by the price too. But nope. :)
All of them were quite shocked with the price, no doubt.
But most of them had their parents to pay for them.

Friend no.1: "I'd love to take the train.. you know, to try. But my dad don't let."
Friend no.2: "My mother said she'll pay for me if I take the train."
Friend no.3: "My mother insist that I take the plane. What to do..:("
Friend no.4: Would be Abby. But she has her reasons.

I will personally wring the necks of Zhuo Yan, Barry or Chun Guan if they dare to bail out on me. I already smsed them telling them to NOT change their minds or else suffer the same fate as Abby.

Did I mention I was the ONLY girl taking train? I feel so kiamsiap. But I can't help it if I don't have that much of cash on me. And I DO feel bad about taking more than 500 from my parents for the trip.

However, on a happier note, my dad gave me a huge surprise by telling me, "Girl, if you can remove the balance from both my jaring accounts, it'll be yours." Then my brother strolled into the room and my dad said, "Split half".

I immediately used my new found "phone enquiry" skills that I've aquired from the multiple Langkawi hotel enquiry calls to give Jaring a buzz and SURPRISE SURPISE, we can actually remove the money.

Yay. I get legitimate money for langkawi. Not money from mummy..(which requires alot of bartering and plsplsplss.)

But I am still taking train. At least I'll have more spending money.

And no, Kevin, it doesn't mean I will be the first to jump on the speedboat for that RM200 Pulau Payar snorkelling trip. *glare glare glare*

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
