Jolene Lai Lai Si

I'll probably have no friends left after putting this entry up.

On wednesday, Brenda and I went to Tesco to have some good ol' KFC. Lovely chicken, they have always been.

We then went into Tesco because she wanted to get some stationary for the new academic year. I went off on my own to buy a new tv ariel, a couple of mathematical box sets(we need it for tooth carving next week!) and an adapter.

While browsing through the tv ariels, I felt this intense pain in my stomach.

I HATE it when this happens. It just comes suddenly and totally knots my tummy up. I had to go the bathroom immediately.

I found Brenda at the tissue department, dumped my things in her trolley and told her, "Wei, stomach ache. Cannot tahan..You wait for me here ok? Very fast one!"

Then she said, "Harh!? Why suddenly one???"

I told her, "Happens lah." and grabbed a 12-pack toilet roll (tesco value!) and ran off to the counter, leaving a laughing Brenda behind.

The tissue paper was RM2.99. The guy took his time to work his cash register. He punched a few buttons on the cash register, waited for the cash register to er..register, rang the cash register and picked out ONE CENT from the cash box and tore the receipt and handed it to me. I was in absolute pain.

So I walked briskly to the toilet which was like, 50metres away.

I felt a gurgle in my tummy and then a dull intensified pain.

Perhaps a fart would do me good. It always makes me feel better. Lessen the tension in the tummy.

Alright. So i farted.

.... somehow, the fart wouldn't stop.

Imagine my horror ok?

It was no longer a fart. It just went on and on and I had to stop myself!

I grabbed on to my ass, just in case anything falls out and covered my ass with the huge pack of toilet roll just so that the public can be saved from the gruesome sight that was my ...er colourised pants.

Somemore I was wearing that damn short stripey shorts that I wore in the pic in the post below. DAmnit!

So I continued walking LIKE THAT all the way to the toilet, not giving a shit(haha!) to how I must've looked - hands cupping the ass, toilet roll held behind.

I burst into the cubicles(and that was not the only thing that burst). Luckily for me I've got a plastic bag after buying that large packet of toilet roll.

Thank god it wasn't much as it was mostly water. And water gets absorbed.

Yes, thank you for being my friend. Have a good life.

I had to sms Brenda.

Brenda's reply.

My next message.

her next reply. My savior!!

Hehehe.

I HAD to tell Lie Yuen what happened. It was too funny not to. This was meant to be read in the most monotonous tone one can ever muster. You know? Like deadpanning.

Hahahaha. How we laughed when we came home.

"So you throwed away your old panties and your shorts?" Brenda asked as we were leaving tesco.

"Er... it's too pretty to throw away. I can't possibly find another pair of stripey shorts. I hope you don't mind that I've put it in a plastic bag and hung it on the side of your car door.." I said sheepishly.

"O_o!! Cha tou!" was Brenda's reply.

And it didn't fly off as we were driving. I went home and washed it straight away and it's damn clean okay.

Now, do I still have friends left?! You know Jolene, always telling her stupid stories to make people happy, right right right?

Burnt Out After 3 Days Into Year 2

I'm sure the rest of Malaysia are coughing as well.

I remember at the beginning of every year, I'd anticipate a new set of homework. All ready to get down and dirty with the new subjects. I'd go home sorely disappointed because everything in school is going really slowly.

So there I was, all psyched to be back for ROUND2! *deng deng* (this is the sound of the bell used in wrestling matches, if you must know!)

I'm not disappointed at all. Noo.. not at all. Just burnt out already and it has only been three days.

I can safely say that the amount of classes spread out in a typical three weeks period in our first year is the same as the amount of classes we have in a typical week here in Year 2.

Class starts at 8.30am EVERY day and ends at 6pm on the average. That's like about 10 hours of classes. With a few hours break here and there, but still! Staying in university for that long can be very very draining.

I've never seen so many of my classmates zoning out by the end of the day. All of them looked half dead and I even went home and climbed straight into bed.a

We can now have tv dinners.

The lengths I'd go for my chinese shows.

Lie Yuen's such a good girl.

At the beginning of each academic year, all students are given a handbook to guide us through our year. Very inspiring. *semangat*

I bought this notice board from Tesco! Isn't it cute!!? I can hang my earrings, put up some notes or bills, hang some snacks.. hehe.

And here's my new RM180 cupboard. Smells like a cupboard. Looks like a cupboard. Functions like a cupboard. Great! The previous cupboard that I was using for the past six months did not have all those features that my new cupboard has. Yes, believe me. I dragged it down the stairs, up the tar road and to the big dustbin at the top of my street. I tried asking Lie Yuen if she wanted to sit inside the cupboard while I dragged it, but she was afraid of the metal rods that was sticking everywhere.

Oh well, her loss.

me happily posing with the year 2 guide.

AND FOR THE FIRST TIME, JOLENE LAI PEI SHAN IS IRONING HER CLOTHES!!!! ..

..a new year, a new me..

I enjoy multitasking.

Here's a snapshot of what my schedule used to look like.

See how crazy it is this year?
*takes a deep breath* I know I should not be complaining since I am MORE than grateful about not needing to repeat my 1st year.

It's quite soothing to organise my notes with these ring stickers while I read the papers at night. It's still early days. I probably can't be farked by the 3rd week or so.

And a good number of my classmates told me I lost weight. DID I DID I DID I ?!!!
I know it's still a far cry away from what human beings deem beautiful. But at least you can see that I'm a bit more of a woman now. Previously I was a tree trunk.

The title on the box looks like it indicates that the box belongs to a 7 year old.
Anyway, yeah, that's MY first year. Madness huh?

Juniors seem alright so far. There was this one guy in university whom I have been smiling and waving at each other with for nearly a year. I NEVER knew his name and cannot recall how we started smiling and waving at each other. We never talked, only smile and wave. I know it's strange.

Today I learnt that he is my junior. Strange how things turn out.

Lucky juniors. They have seniors who can lend them notes and tell them what books to buy. Pioneer students had NO help whatsoever.

Other than that, it's been nice to be back with the other classmates.

Just last night, Josiah cooked supper for a few of us and brought it to our place. Brenda, Andy, Chee Wen, Xin Yi and Yan Rui came over and we watched tv together. Such a nice feeling because it's like being in a family where everybody watches tv together.

I guess once life is established in Kedah, it's not so bad. I had quite a tough time adapting back in the early days of my first year. I had a very bad bout of internet withdrawal syndrome when I first arrived and ate crap for food every single day.

Now I get to have a say about what I eat. Which is damn good.

I have kai lan, meat balls and herbal soup waiting for me downstairs and a container of rice too. Mmmm!

Not like you care, but yeah, I'm so happy about my dinner tonight.

Pixart Pocket Books Make The Perfect Gifts!

I was recommended to Dominic and his team at www.pixart.com.my by Minishorts to help them do a review on their new Pixart product - Pixart Pocket Book which was launched on the 1st of September.

I myself wouldn't usually order things online but I have to say it's quite innovative, what they are doing. I LOVE IT!!! You will see why.

Basically, it's a company which caters to people who want to make picture books of themselves and their happier moments. It's like, you can make a story book about you. Think Peter and Jane. Mine SEEMS like a Peter and Jane book anyway. Haha. With the cute big fonts and the big big pictures!

The photobook is about the size of two palms with a personalized hardcover. There are 12 printed pages(double sided printing too! Very worth it!) for your selection of photos. It is only RM50 and I think that it is worth it!  Any additional pages would be charged RM1.50 each. It's beautiful and well presented and it makes great gifts. Saves the hassles of shopping for something just as meaningful.

Oooh!! From the 1st to the 30th of September, there will be a 20% discount for all users. Do hurry if you're planning on buying. Anybody loves a pretty thing with their face on it, no?

To start off, you would be required to download a program called Photostylist. It's a simple program which enables you to choose layouts for your Pixart pocket book and insert photos and the texts to go with it.

It might be a little confusing in the beginning, but very soon you'll be clicking and tweaking your Pixart book to perfection. The first step would be to get the photos that you want and it will be displayed on a bar situated at the bottom of the screen.

On to creating pages, you will be given a variety of layouts to choose from. You can also download extra layouts from the pixart website itself.

You even get to personalize the cover of the photobook. How fun is that??

After you're done, you get to preview your work. If you don't like it, you just go back and adjust. Very flexible.

When you're satisfied, you would have to fill up your particulars and then upload it to Pixart's server.

Plus shipping is RM56.00 to anywhere in Malaysia. Shipping to Singapore would be RM25 extra. Apparently shipping to other countries is also supported.

Since I had to go back to Kedah before the Pixart book arrived at my house in Subang, I asked if they could send it to Kedah for me. I was amazed that they actually agreed to send it all the way here!

I purposely bought a bigger postbox to anticipate the arrival of the pixart photo book. I even left a big note scrawled on an A4 paper on the postbox giving instructions to the postman to dump it inside for me, if there was a package for me. I simply cannot afford the time to go down to the post office and collect it. I've been having classes from 8.30am to 5pm for the past two days!! (more on that later!)

Imagine my happiness when I came back and found a brown paper package sitting inside my red postbox!

It's here!!
The cover is nice and solid with a matte finish. The quality of the photos is clear and it was not reduced at all.

The personalised cover spreads from the back to the front cover. Nice touch, don't you think?

For 12 printed pages, it resembles a children's storybook!

The quality of the photo seems alright, doesn't it?? I'm honestly very impressed by the fact that a photo which is only 56k looks pretty presentable!

The texture of the pages feels like a very thick magazine paper. I love the quality!

Dominic adviced me to use photos that can fill up the entire page. I was a little apprehensive at first because I didn't want to waste space and wouldn't I look horrendous, all enlarged?

Now that I have seen the finished product, I have to agree that it does LOOK really classy that way.

These four photos are only 56k in size and they still look pretty good. No ugly huge pixels. YAY!

You can add effects like shadow borders or even change the colour of the photos to sepia.

A few more low resolution photos that turned out so nicely.

Two more pages of full sized photos.

Doesn't it look like a story book to you? I know it looks like I'm making a gift for Chee Kiang right? Hahahhaa. No! It's all mine! Mine! (Maybe I'll buy one for him la;))

Basically it's up to you how you want your Pixart photo book to look.

Flipping through the story of us. Hehe.

A close up.

That pre-valentine's day dinner at Starhill. Don't you agree that the lighting where the photos were taken looks pretty good on glossy pages?

Can't get enough of them full sized photos. I get to be my own centerfold pullout. Hehehe. NOT that I want to pull anything out from this precious photo book! *hugs photobook tightly*

I'm sure he'll love this book just as much...

...as I do. Heh. No, it still stays with me.

But since it's only RM50, I'll definitely be back for more.

...and we lived happily ever after!

Yes, as you can see, I'm satisfied. NO LAH I AM NOT TRYING TO SUCK UP. You can ask Lie Yuen, I was carrying it around the house the entire day, caressing it and flipping through. I've never had photos of myself printed into a book of sorts, so it's still a novelty to me.

I'll definitely be back for more. Mother's day, Father's Day, Brother's Day, Camwhore Day..etc would be good reasons to buy more!

By the way, if you like, they have a larger version called the Coffee Table Photobook. That looks pretty artistic if you put great snapshots in it.

Many thanks to Pixart for the free photobook! I had fun doing the review. If you have any further enquiries, please feel free to email Pixart at customerservice@pixart.com.my or call 03-77105092.

*goes off to caress matte hardcover pixart book..and the contents too. ahem*

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
