Pixart Pocket Books Make The Perfect Gifts!

I was recommended to Dominic and his team at www.pixart.com.my by Minishorts to help them do a review on their new Pixart product - Pixart Pocket Book which was launched on the 1st of September.

I myself wouldn't usually order things online but I have to say it's quite innovative, what they are doing. I LOVE IT!!! You will see why.

Basically, it's a company which caters to people who want to make picture books of themselves and their happier moments. It's like, you can make a story book about you. Think Peter and Jane. Mine SEEMS like a Peter and Jane book anyway. Haha. With the cute big fonts and the big big pictures!

The photobook is about the size of two palms with a personalized hardcover. There are 12 printed pages(double sided printing too! Very worth it!) for your selection of photos. It is only RM50 and I think that it is worth it!  Any additional pages would be charged RM1.50 each. It's beautiful and well presented and it makes great gifts. Saves the hassles of shopping for something just as meaningful.

Oooh!! From the 1st to the 30th of September, there will be a 20% discount for all users. Do hurry if you're planning on buying. Anybody loves a pretty thing with their face on it, no?

To start off, you would be required to download a program called Photostylist. It's a simple program which enables you to choose layouts for your Pixart pocket book and insert photos and the texts to go with it.

It might be a little confusing in the beginning, but very soon you'll be clicking and tweaking your Pixart book to perfection. The first step would be to get the photos that you want and it will be displayed on a bar situated at the bottom of the screen.

On to creating pages, you will be given a variety of layouts to choose from. You can also download extra layouts from the pixart website itself.

You even get to personalize the cover of the photobook. How fun is that??

After you're done, you get to preview your work. If you don't like it, you just go back and adjust. Very flexible.

When you're satisfied, you would have to fill up your particulars and then upload it to Pixart's server.

Plus shipping is RM56.00 to anywhere in Malaysia. Shipping to Singapore would be RM25 extra. Apparently shipping to other countries is also supported.

Since I had to go back to Kedah before the Pixart book arrived at my house in Subang, I asked if they could send it to Kedah for me. I was amazed that they actually agreed to send it all the way here!

I purposely bought a bigger postbox to anticipate the arrival of the pixart photo book. I even left a big note scrawled on an A4 paper on the postbox giving instructions to the postman to dump it inside for me, if there was a package for me. I simply cannot afford the time to go down to the post office and collect it. I've been having classes from 8.30am to 5pm for the past two days!! (more on that later!)

Imagine my happiness when I came back and found a brown paper package sitting inside my red postbox!

It's here!!
The cover is nice and solid with a matte finish. The quality of the photos is clear and it was not reduced at all.

The personalised cover spreads from the back to the front cover. Nice touch, don't you think?

For 12 printed pages, it resembles a children's storybook!

The quality of the photo seems alright, doesn't it?? I'm honestly very impressed by the fact that a photo which is only 56k looks pretty presentable!

The texture of the pages feels like a very thick magazine paper. I love the quality!

Dominic adviced me to use photos that can fill up the entire page. I was a little apprehensive at first because I didn't want to waste space and wouldn't I look horrendous, all enlarged?

Now that I have seen the finished product, I have to agree that it does LOOK really classy that way.

These four photos are only 56k in size and they still look pretty good. No ugly huge pixels. YAY!

You can add effects like shadow borders or even change the colour of the photos to sepia.

A few more low resolution photos that turned out so nicely.

Two more pages of full sized photos.

Doesn't it look like a story book to you? I know it looks like I'm making a gift for Chee Kiang right? Hahahhaa. No! It's all mine! Mine! (Maybe I'll buy one for him la;))

Basically it's up to you how you want your Pixart photo book to look.

Flipping through the story of us. Hehe.

A close up.

That pre-valentine's day dinner at Starhill. Don't you agree that the lighting where the photos were taken looks pretty good on glossy pages?

Can't get enough of them full sized photos. I get to be my own centerfold pullout. Hehehe. NOT that I want to pull anything out from this precious photo book! *hugs photobook tightly*

I'm sure he'll love this book just as much...

...as I do. Heh. No, it still stays with me.

But since it's only RM50, I'll definitely be back for more.

...and we lived happily ever after!

Yes, as you can see, I'm satisfied. NO LAH I AM NOT TRYING TO SUCK UP. You can ask Lie Yuen, I was carrying it around the house the entire day, caressing it and flipping through. I've never had photos of myself printed into a book of sorts, so it's still a novelty to me.

I'll definitely be back for more. Mother's day, Father's Day, Brother's Day, Camwhore Day..etc would be good reasons to buy more!

By the way, if you like, they have a larger version called the Coffee Table Photobook. That looks pretty artistic if you put great snapshots in it.

Many thanks to Pixart for the free photobook! I had fun doing the review. If you have any further enquiries, please feel free to email Pixart at customerservice@pixart.com.my or call 03-77105092.

*goes off to caress matte hardcover pixart book..and the contents too. ahem*

Malaysian Blog Idol Is Here!

Don't live in denial lah. I'm sure as a blogger within this dynamic blogging community of ours, I'm very sure, you would have at least wondered exactly where you stand as a blogger.

I know alot of you despise the fact that blogging has become a popularity contest of sorts and that some of you think that those at the top are not deserving of their fame.

You know how it is when the big players just type a few words, oh, I don't know, like, "I'm hungry." and with just that two words, comments just flood in? Those are called fans. Cannot blame them. They've come a long way.

I've heard of many bloggers who complain about how no one gives a shit about the article that they have put so much effort on. I understand it's depressing.(But if the article/blog post is funny or at least interesting, it might help).

Wouldn't you like to be heard on a larger platform? To voice out somewhere where there are people who pay attention to the quality of your posts and not just glance through with a maggi cup in their right hand and their left hand controlling the mouse?(that's what I do lah that's why sometimes I just read and never comment.:P That's why you all emo. Haha)

Robertchai.com came up with the ingenius concept to search for the first Malaysian blog idol.

A winner is picked every 2 weeks and will be in the running for the annual competition to bag the Next Malaysian Blog Idol title for the 06/07 season.

The contest will go on for 23 rounds(23 fortnights, I suppose?) and on August the 15th 2007, the 23 finalists will be judged again by the panel of judges to compete for the Next Malaysian Blog Idol title.

The winner will be announced on the 31st of August 2007.

Let me dangle the carrot for you.

The fortnightly winner is entitled to a monetary prize of RM50.

The 1st prize would be a brand new 19" Dell LCD screen.
The 2nd prize is a brand new Sony Ericsson mobile phone.
The 3rd prize is a one year web hosting service with the following features:-

-1600mb space
-32gb bandwidth
-and many other features.

I don't know about you, but when I stumbled upon Robertchai.com, I sure found it enticing.

Initially, I myself itchy-backsided and went to register to be in the running for the next malaysian blog idol. But instead I received an email from them and they said that they've already listed me as a judge initially. O-kayy!

They have five permanent judges:

Robertchai.com himself, CyberPartyGal, Sarawho.comBlogasian.com and Justin.

As for the guest judges, we have:

-Kennysia.com as a special guest judge, I'm not sure how that works. Maybe his votes got more special powers as compared to ours'.
-Bibliobibuli
-Boss Stewie
-The Great Swifty
-Jason Mumbles
-Pinkpau
-Sultan Muzaffar
-Lucia Lai
-Otto
-Rojaks
-Suanie
-Kamigoroshi
-5Xmom

and myself. :)

The contest has started already but it's not too late to sign up!

Contestants are judged based on the comments, pageviews, trackbacks, public's votes and judges' votes.

Sign up lah, it'll be fun! :)

Just A Quick Update

You guys are no fun! No one guessed that I was the mystery paddle pop woman over at Ivan's. Not that I directed any of you there, yet. Heh.

Sorry for not updating properly these few days as I'm busy enjoying the last few days of my holidays. No..no shopping. Damn wasted though.

But yeah, I'm back in Kedah already. I came back on Saturday with Lie Yuen to clean the house up. *looks at Lie Yuen busy cleaning the house.* *looks at own untidy room.* Haiyah, later lah.

OH!! OH!!!

I PASSED MY BIOCHEMISTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at Low Yat Plaza on Friday with Sush and I was in the midst of buying my 1.3mega pixel webcam(and she was buying a 160gigabytes external hard drive) when Josiah messaged me.

"I called the dean today and he said everybody passed."

YAY!! Imagine my happiness. I can't believe I received my good news in a place like Low Yat. Such an unlikely place for me to be.

I was so happy that I bought 100 pieces of empty Imation cds, a purple cd file, a pink cd file(very Barbie) and a DreamWeaver pirated cd.

Not quite satisfied with Josiah's message, I decided to call the School Of Dentistry and my professor picked up the phone.

I was jumping up and down like a monkey outside the Bukit Bintang McDonalds. You know the big Giordano signboard near Sg.Wang? Yeah.

I'm going on to second year! I'm on my way to be a real-er dentist. Don't ask me what's a real-er dentist. It's just my own way of saying that even though I'm studying this course, it does not mean that I will happily pass every single year. I will sadly pass. Pain and sweat, slaving over them books. Hopefully no more resits, ever. Every year accomplished signifies a step closer for me to become a real-er dentist.

I've bertaubat-ed* already for the new school year. I'm going to study in detail whatever that I do not understand. Supplement from all the books in the library. Search for it online. Learn!! FILE MY NOTES PROPERLY!! Take down notes dilligently.

...sekali first day of class also fall asleep already. But no worries, I have a grand supply of Nescafe 3-in-1 and some Chicken Essence left.

On other Kedah-ish updates, I just bought myself a new cupboard. Not like anybody cares. But it should be arriving in about 20 minutes. For only Rm180!! Not bad.. I hope it won't fall apart though.

Lie Yuen and I were conned by Andy.

If most of you have forgotten who Andy is due to the "extremely long" in-between-years holiday.. he is our classmate who comes from Sabah to entertain us with his endless wisecracks and basically one of the very few people who can make our life in Kedah entertaining. We wouldn't know what we would do without him.

I smsed him and said, "hellooo!! came back already?"

And the bugger replied, "Hey...I'm still in Sabah. I don't think I will join you all this year lar. Maybe become your junior or maybe not even come back."

Lie Yuen and I screamed, "Bullshit!!!!!!!!"

Then I called him and his acting skills persisted.

"I got some problems lar. Think lah, jolene, if I am coming back to SP(Sungai Petani), why would I still be in Sabah now when class starts tomorrow? I got some problems which I will tell you about later," he said.

"No! No! Don't lie. Please don't lie," I begged.

"Why would I lie for? Maybe I won't come back even..see what Professor Smales say first." he said.

"What? You passed everything what! Wei! Don't lie lah!! I will cry one you know!" I was nearly in tears.

"HAHAHHAHAHA..on the way to the airport lah. How's the weather there?" ...dumbass!!!

"NOT GOOD ALREADY LET YOU MAKE SPOIL!" and I passed the phone for Lie Yuen to continue with the shouting. Hehe.

It sucks to have people leaving the course. Thank god no one is leaving. Only three classmates have to repeat the entire year. Sigh.

Before I go off to continue cleaning my room and awaiting the grand arrival of my new cupboard, I shall let you in on something.

Come closer.

*whispers* I've got my own domain now.

Everything is ready already! Just that my layout is giving me shite and I don't feel like updating any blogs of mine until I'm satisfied with that layout. I love that layout so much and nothing comes close.

I'll be moving to wordpress because blogdrive is giving me shite.

I've also got two posts to write for a website and a company's product. Heh. Hopefully can get it done in the next couple of days.

Redang photos are still lingering in my drafts. ; Maybe that'll go to my new blog.

And I've got a sorethroat. Arghhhhhhhhhhhkkkcchhkkkkkkkkkk..*cough*

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
