Hip Hopera's Over!

I actually wrote an entry about 2.30am yesterday and a slip of the finger deleted everything for me.(very good..!) Grrr!! I inserted all the pictures and only went to bed at abot 4am.. I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME. ..and I tossed and turned in bed till about 5am. I had to wake up at 9 am and follow my mother to Carrefour
I was so tired I ended up sleeping at everywhere and anywhere possible.

I was sleeping on the table in Food Court and I decided to wake up to have a look around. Spotted a sweet looking young man and pretended to look at something behind his head. He was sitting with his ..girlfriend..? sister maybe. yes sister. and an older woman. Mother in law?no.. no..mother. haha. But that's not the point. I turned around and heard the older woman say, "Hei jor san lor.."(woke up already in cantonese) LOL.. So shy.

Anyway, FINALLY Hip Hopera is over. Now I can resume normal life after three nights of abnormal sleeping habit. Been waking up at 1pm and going off to college at about 4pm to start work on their hair and makeup! It was good fun actually. :) Might as well make use of my dust collecting makeup.

However, Chien arrived a little later today but no problem, since she would be helping me with the hair anyway and I would have more than enough time to do their make up!

Actually, I really think that's it's all in the mind for those whose makeup I did.

A good example would be Pamela(one of the dancers)'s makeup. She turned around and Amanda(another girl helping with make up) screamed, "OMIGOD WHY LIKE GHOST!!!" ..sorry la..you wanted stage makeup what..*sob*

Before the last performance, Chi Ho got everybody into a group huddle. He wanted to get everyone to relax and close their eyes and just..er..relax. He recited soothing words, but mostly for those who were going up on stage. It was quite a sight to see 20+ of us doing a huddle.

Their team spirit is so strong. But somehow I don't feel belonged. This could be because I've only met most of them for a couple of days and they have been together since June, practising like mad. But it was nice to be able to take part in this production.

I was in trigger happy mood soon after.

the cast minus Mun Joon warming up their vocals.

l-r: Radd, Shia Lynn and Nice Guy whom I don't know his name. But what I DO know is that he's the LEO president of the Cheras Leo Club. He's one of the prompters/runningmen.

Shh.. Mun Joon doesn't know that he was getting his picture taken. He was waiting for the next puff of powder. HEe.

I was half way done with wei Xian's eyes and decided to take a picture of her beautiful eyes! LOL. see the eyeliner and the shadow..:P

When I mean business, I mean business.

That's Chien behind curling Grace's hair. She's supposed to look like a fourty year old.
l-r: Grace, Chi Ho(the director) and Dhivia.

l-r: Matthew the emcee(extremely funny guy), Matther Ong, Kyle

I was simply snapping from below.

This is Mike, our cameraman. He was telling me about the crazy things he has done to his hair. And it still looks so healthy.

Ming Choi, you look like you have rollers in your hair.

KYLE?!
l-r: Kyle, Pamela and Shia Lynn

Shia Lynn applying some foundation on Dhivia's face.

This is Matthew who fears my blusher brush and powder puff oh so much. Esther said he doesn't look too happy. =\ Sorry yea matthew if I forced you!

Ah, good to know someone's happy!
Wei Xian and me!

l-r: haha, it's matthew the emcee again, Wei Xian and me. The one with the blue hair behind us would be DJ TREY(Benjamin Lee) and Dhivia making a face behind.

The cast.
l-r: Doris(grace), salina(dhivia), Derrick(Kyle), DJ Trey(Benjamin) and Johan(Mun Joon)

Another one.

That's Chi Ho the director in the middle. Can't remember the other guy's name but he's also a senior.

LT2 was our dressing room.

I went behind the stage and started snapping pictures for no particular reason. Shia Lynn was like, "What are you doing?" and I just said, "I have a blog.".. She was like, "ah, icicic.." totally understanding my reasons. haha.

I already asked them if I could put this up and they were more than happy to hold this pose for me.
l-r: Shia Lynn and Vaseist.

This is behind the stage. This is where the running men, er, run.

Ming Choi was kind enough to let me and Chien sit in to watch the entire show instead of doing the usual routine of standing by the stairs and watching fragments of the show.

The songs are all stuck in my head!!

Yesterday was the first time I watched the part where Doris takes on the stage in full blown woman power style lecturing Salina about how she should not give men face. Then the backup dancers came up, including Radd, Wei Xian and Matthew. The two guys played a couple of timid waiters with Wei Xian in between them pinching them. LOL..and came the chorus, the two guys sang very mundanely and sadly, "don't give them face..don't, don't give them face...".. lol!

And of course, everyone's favourite is my favourite too.. Kyle's Donno Don Talk.
If you don't know what you're saying, then you just shut up,
Donno Don Talk!
If you don't know what you're saying, then you don't talk cock,(thrusts hips forward)
Donno Don talk!
Hahahaa..damn cute !

I liked Dhivia and Mun Joon's first song too. Something about the way you move, the way you talk the way you bla bla bla.. I so need to get the mp3s for these. If that's possible, that is.

This is when the entire crew got called on stage to share the spotlight.. Hehehe.. I actually snapped some pictures while on stage. This is the first one, which got a really weird stare from Shia Lynn and fortunately a laugh.

They sneakily hid a bouquet of roses behind the set for their big boss...

...who is none other than KAN MING CHOI!!! What a nice picture!

Yes! I actually took one of the crowd!! *claps hands*

I think this is when Chi Ho came up on stage. We can see Grace's red finger nails at the side. She's supposed to be 40+, remember?

l-r: Me, Dhivia and Su-Chien

No matter WHAT Esther says, I still think I look like Puss In Boots in Shrek2. LOL..
Ok fine, I look spastic. This is because someone nudged Chien's hand(she was taking the picture) and the look on my face was an expression of concern. honest!
l-r: Nice Guy(still don't know his name!), Kyle and Myself.

Hehehe.. see? this is a nicer one!! But too bad, it's SO BLUR.

Sandra Sodhy and Michael Woon who were in the original play actually came to watch the play. I went over to say Hello and introduced myself to Sandra as "Miss Ho's daughter." My mum was her daughter's JMC(a beginner's piano course for really young children at Yamaha) teacher many many year's ago. Sandra was like, "OH! I thought Miss Ho has really young children?"..hehe. I guess they grew up. I thought I'd take a picture for my mother to see.
l-r: Me, Sandra's daughter(I didn't quite get her name) and Sandra Sodhy herself.

Poor Michael Woon's face is covered by the mike! I wanted to snap another one but Chien stopped me from embarassing myself.

They gave a really nice inspiring review about the play. Sandra's daughter even compared the cast to the original cast in a way that made each and everyone of the cast feel special!

After Chien dropped me home, I finally had time to devour my first meal of the day. I decided to be kind and share some fries with Angel.

Make Up Phobia Is Adorable

The time is now..2.10am!! And for a good half an hour I was sitting stoning in front of my laptop just browsing through people's blogs over and over again and just NOT wanting to shower. I DON'T KNOW WHY. Another night of Hip Hopera is over and I still found the cockroach intermission sketch DAMN funny.

I'm also deliriously happy for reasons only known by Esther, li peng, edison, hsien and chien:) Unsafe to blog about it you know.:) I think if I'm a boy, there won't be a girl who will be safe when she's with me. Heck, there aren't even girls who feel safe even when they're with me. LOL!! *air liur meleleh..not at what I just said. But the 'meaning' behind this paragraph*
See, it was as if I was looking for a piece of biscuit to munch in the kitchen, but instead I find a whole plate of spaggheti carbonara awaiting me to devour it, string by string of spaggheti(?).. that's how it is. Mehehehe. My theories never make sense. Skip this. But do dwell deeper if you must. Ahem.

The reason I'm blogging at this unearthly hour was because I was looking at myself in the mirror and suddenly it dawned on me it's the DAMNED padded bras that makes me look fat. And I wanted to change my msn nick to "Miss Lai, your boobs are portraying a fat image for you. Please don't wear bras anymore." And so happen I saw 'arthurlai@pd.jaring.my(E-mail address not verified) has just signed in'. My dad just logged on to msn and it wouldn't be wise to have such a nickname when he's on at the same time. Hmm. Wonder what's he doing online at this time of the night. Hmm.

So I guess I'll have to come here to speak abit if I can't be satiated by altering my msn nickname. Hence, my boobs and padded bras are like two teenagers wedded young. The parents may think it's what's best for each other, but no, they bring out the worst in each other. They fight so much and end up destroying the other inside out. Therefore giving the wrong image to the world that they are a happy couple.

My boobs and bras feel the same. I do not own many unpadded bras. So most people think I have big boobs(well...*modest smile*) but in actual fact, it's the DAMN BRAS I TELL YOU!!! DAMN YOU, TRIUMPH INTERNATIONAL!!!...I was never a BeeDees girl. I went straight on to Triumph(well...*modest smile*).

I will stick(forgive the pun) back to nipple stickers. No bras for me till someone tells me I'm flat.

Just kidding. I'll just buy new unpadded bras.(ooh er..*modest smile*)

Go Curl Your Own Hair, Bitch

The title refers to this certain girl who was getting her hair done by Chien for Hip Hopera and she sort of requested(read:persisted/insisted) that we'll be free on the 25th of September to do her hair for prom. Like what the fuck? We do not run a business here. And she has the cheek to not even OFFER me a price? Like, what.the.fuck. Seriously, where does she even gets the notion that we're only more than happy to twirl her hair with MY iron curler, and go over to HER to do it for HER. Hello? We're not even friends to begin with. Mere strangers thrown together to help out for this play. Geez. Help out, ok, not paid. GEEEZ.

This morning, I nearly killed Esther by letting her inhale a large dose of carbon monoxide as she was waiting for me to get ready so we could go swimming. I only woke up when she arrived..ahahha, so typical of me.

"Esther Phan, 18, dies of carbon monoxide poisoning while waiting for friend, Jolene Lai, 17, to go swimming at a hotel in Subang Jaya."

"Melody Song, 18, says, "Yes, Jolene has a reputation for oversleeping....I'm sorry, I
can't go on." Song could give no further information about Lai's sleeping habits as she broke down to tears. Lai is currently detained for further investigations".

I can hear Esther saying, "Sakai!" LOL!! But it was fun! 8.45am she arrived and I went in to her car at 9.00am..(changed AND checked my blog, i'm sad sad sad.. however, I found Nigel and Adrian singing "I Will Come To You"-Hanson in my tagboard.o_O).

We jumped into the pool at Villa, but unfortunately we didn't do real laps because they were cleaning the pool with this weird tube vacuum thingie. So we just hung around at one end of the pool. :) An entire olympic sized pool only for us! and one old man, but nevertheless, the space was great! hehehe, wasted alot of saliva explaining to esther about the disgusting twist to Greed Mask(old TVB 8.30 show) and put on a stupid show of how the dumb people in Aqua Heroes(TVB new 8.30 show) swim. What ice-breaking bull shit, flying fish prince..bla bla bla.

We finished our session by spending sometime in the steam bath.. rubbing conditioner into our hair and lying down on the ceramic tiled benches(me) and leaning against the tiled walls(Esther).. ...ahh. BLISS.

She fetched me home and it was only 10.40am!!! 0_0!!

After a nap, I was due at college for the Hip Hopera play! Upon arriving with my bag full of make up and my paper bag with hair stuff, I started work on some of the dancers. Chien arrived soon enough to help me do their hair and I was RELIEVED..so, I was able to do their makeup in a relaxed manner.

There was this one dancer called Wei Xian. She ties her hair up and she has this glasses and I can presume that that's how she looks all the time. She looks like she's not up for trying something new. Once she let down her hair and removed those glasses, I was like, "PHUIYOH!! Can join pageant!" Honest! You know those miracle makeovers? She's a good example!  I applied some foundation to her already flawless face.. and applied some eyshadow..mixing the colours abit. She's supposedly someone who has to portray a 'strict diciplinarian' look. Righht. So she gets 'boring colours'(ie. brown, beige, browinish-pink).. and red lipstick. Gave her orangey-crimsonish blush for her cheekbones..and ta da! I then got her to apply some mascara..after abit of begging on my side. I nearly skewed her eyeballs out with my mascara wand.. yikes. She admitted that that was her fourth time putting makeup on. And we joked that her first time was probably during her kindergarten concert!
Sent her off to Chien to get her hair done. She was given a tight bun by the Hair Woman.

Making up for Dhivia took the longest. Her arms were recently burnt by her bad hair-removing-treatment experience. So she ended up having this burnt dots all over her arms. Both arms! I had to cover her arm ENTIRELY in concealer.. hence promoting her skin colour a few notches higher. Then her neck and her arms didn't match, and we slapped on somemore foundation and we both freaked out when her face was abit too white. Thank god for her darker foundation! Hope she brings that tomorrow. While I was doing her makeup for her, I saw that she had a Stila Lipglaze and was admiring it. And she said that I'd probably have better use for it compared to her..and she threw it in my bag!! I was so stunned! Thank you, Dhivia! So kind of her!! I've always wanted something Stila!!:D

Now, Grace, who plays an "aunty in her 40s" in this play, was surprisingly a fun task to handle. I thought that it would be difficult to get her done. But fortunately, Chien managed to do her hair to look like an aunty(By referring to one of Lilian Too's hairstyle in Feng Shui World.) and I added brown eyeshadow, followed by pastel red on the outer eyelids. I don't know how that idea came around, but it did make her look much older and obviously red red lipstick. Brownish-crimson blush for her cheeks. No cute blushed cheeks for her, but those firm shadings yeah? As in she has to suck in her cheeks so that her cheekbones really potrude!

Slapping makeup on for the guys was quite ok, just abit of powder, a pinch of lip colour, a dab of blusher and they were ready to go. There was this cute guy (not one of the main cast) who had abit too much of pink blush on his cheeks and was genuinely concerned about it being too pink. Aw, bless him:). KYle, unfortunately, was given the WRONG blusher. Brown blusher? Never.

I did manage to steal a few glimpse of the show. Originally we weren't supposed to be watching it, as we were supposed to be in the other lecture theatre to stay put so as to touch up for the cast when they came back in. The intermission sketch about a bunch of boys trying to kill cockroaches was DAMN funny. Very good choreographing skills there. Applaud, applaud.

Charlotte Chong(issit?) was so cute as costume assistant. She laid everyone's costume according to scenes on every chair in the Lecture Theatre 2(where we had the preparations) and would get them into their costumes between scenes. It wasn't as hectic as I imagined it to be. Phew!

The show wrapped up and I had the chance to go on stage as "backstage crew".. they forgot to call Chien's name though!! :( :( :( :( :(

After the play ended, it was nearly 11pm, Adrian and Nigel were waiting for us outside. We headed to William's .. where I had my DINNER.. and I did that tak mau chili, tak mau lada, tak mau pedas routine again, generating mass eye rolls all round the table.

William is exactly how I imagined him to look like. I imagined a fat chinese man who is in his late 30s/early 40s. I told Adrian this and he was such an ass and said, "What?! You actually imagine about William in your free time?" Bitch. I heard from alot of people that he's very, er, jovial. Ahhaaha.

Forgive me people for using this joke.
He once asked Chin Ju if he gets a hard on when he looks in the mirror... his reason being Chin Ju's a cibai or looks like a cibai.. something mean ok. And poor Chin Ju was so scared to go into the mamak alone just now for fear that he would kena bang by William. HAhahaha.

Abby once told me that Chun Guan was promoting the place heavily to her once by saying it's some high class mamak bla bla bla.. dem cool how cool.. and then when they arrived there, she was shocked that it was just a shack. Someone chipped in by saying, it's not even a shack.. a mere hut ..or something sad. William's is popular, it's just that it's the atmosphere that brings people back to his place. LOL.. the way Abby told me about it was quite funny.

Those who attended this spontaneous mamak session was Me, chien, adrian, nigel, barry, e-guy, chin ju, amanda, kay hong and Yijin!

Poor E-guy kept kena kutuk-ed by Chien and the rest..! I was kept amazed by Chin Ju's smoke blowing antics. He could do rings...(Adrian claimed he could do a heart shaped one and make an arrow go through it..*nods sarcastically and shows adrian the middle finger*) and he even released his stream of smoke that flowed right into his nostrils!! O_O.. sorry, I'm jakun.

So sad, Adrian will be leaving tomorrow at 9am. Bye Adrian. Study hard in UK. Don't have to miss me so much. Coz I.. well, I, er.. I don't..er..I mean I DO.. er... no no..er.. hehe... BLEK:P.. bye!!

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
