Perpetual Eyeshadow

I woke up at 12pm before falling asleep again at 2pm and proceeded to wake up at 4pm to help my mum hang some clothes before retiring back to my bed to catch 2 episodes of Greed Mask. I'm SO happening. Nobody can blame me since I'm having holidays! Woohoo!

Since Chee Kiang is back from Singapore for four days, a few of us decided to go have dinner. Dinner was at Pyramid's Monte's Restaurant and Bar. Daryl fetched us there.. I was supposed to let chee kiang test my driving and I'm not allowed to drive at night and he lost his confidence to drive around since he's been in Singapore for quite a while now. He was like a foreigner when he came back. ("Wow! So much changes!"-referring to the road works at Jalan Tujuan/Subang Utama)

It was about six of us.. Gaya, Daryl, Chee Kiang, Me, Eu-Foh and Justin who joined us after he was done working at Manhattan Fish Market. =) Poor Li Peng couldn't join us. And it's all Eu-Foh's fault! Though it was only a few of us, but lol, we SO enjoyed ourselves gossiping our heads off!

We learnt that someone's alternating between boyfriends, someone farted on someone's face on purpose back in 2003, a sad ending to a complex relationship, a predicted ending to a long term relationship, someone planned to run away from home-which was pretty hilarious, someone freaking out about someone's girlfriend because people said she was annoying, someone having scary eyelined eyes, finding out that Vinod(the guy who was involved in my "accident") once dissed Gaya by saying, "I could swim in her makeup!" So rude right?, someone looking like a ghost, someone smoking like a chimney, someone having the time of his life being a mat romeo..etc:)

We were practically the only people around except for another table occupied by a couple. It was a late Sunday night.. and I AM on holiday:). Nothing's nicer than that.

top left clock wise direction: Gaya, Me, Eu-Foh, Chee Kiang and Daryl. Justin hasn't finished working yet.

Another one.

Gaya and me! :D

Chee kiang and me! :D

When Justin joined us, we adjourned to Syed in 19 for more gossiping. Received many a weird stares from the people there for not being in a big t-shirt and shorts. After that Justin sent me home and he explained to me about his car modifying hobby/habit:) His money goes to spending on love interests. It's true. Started since a young age.

Wish I Was There

After many, many plays that I've intended to watch, Wish I Was There managed to intrigue me enough to actually go all the way to Bangsar to watch it. I planned to go with my family to watch it but since they were taking too long to decide if they wanted to go, I decided to call Melissa(who's a real Play-buff.(er, similiar to movie-buff?:P) to see if she wanted to watch it with me! Turns out she was as enthusiastic about the play as I was!

Mum drove me to her place and her dad drove us to Bangsar Shopping Complex. While waiting for the show to start, there was a flea market going on and basically we spent most of our time browsing around and enjoying each other's company.(we have not hung out together in a LONG time.)

Being students, we managed to purchase the ticket for only RM17.The studio/auditorium was smaller than an average cinema but at least it served its purpose as the view was better and the voices were clearer. :) Excuse me, I've never been to The Actor's Studio before.

Warning, spoilers ahead if you're planning to watch the play! But tomorrow's the last day anyway.

I Won't highlight the words from here on.

The setting was so minimal and beautiful.:) The set only consisted of two colours. White everything and a soft blue light cast upon the stage. Pretty much how I expected it to be. Which is good. :) The picture didn't really capture the full effect of the blue light. It filled up more of the stage actually.

The play started off with Patrick Teoh in an uncle-ish get-up.(out of shape collared shirt, beige pants with a belt and a plastic bag of orange). He sat on a white stool and started to have conversations with no one in particular. Things about what he did, and what he does now and how he feels about it. He was eating an orange as he was saying all that. Patrick plays an old man who died due to old age and is in much suffering. The character reminisce about how he usually eats his breakfast, and now he has to drink it with a straw. After a little bit more of solemn takes on his life, he took out an orange and sniffed it a little and set it upon the stool.

He then walks back to one of those square frames and disappears behind the curtains. In comes Chew Kin Wah who plays his son, David and Maya Abdullah who plays Doreen, his daughter. It seemed as if David was the more loving child compared to his sister. The sister could hardly care if the father was revived or not. Chew Kin Wah's David was pretty agressive in nature but he seemed to genuinely care about his father and misses him quite a bit. It featured quite a lot of raised voice. I still think Chew Kin Wah is a great actor:)

Soon after, Gavin who plays the young man who died is seated next to Patrick Teoh on the white bench in the centre of the stage. Gavin was dressed in a long sleeved shirt and tie and a pair of formal looking pants. Very yuppie and yummy! They are here because the both of them have many unresolved problems about their life. The two of them sat silently on the bench away from each other. Then Patrick(who was decked out in a hospital gown..he died in the hospital right?) tried to say Hi to Gavin, who did not reply but continued to stare out into the distance. Patrick then pokes Gavin softly and Gavin shouts in shock and Patrick shouts in shock too, shocking everybody in the crowd. LOL.

Patrick asks him questions as to why is here, have they died, more and more questions and sounds every bit the typical annoying old man who thinks he should be respected just because he is older. Whereelse Gavin was like a sullen teenager, unwilling to answer to any of his questions. This resulted in them having a huge row. Now, this was done in such a realistic manner. Perhaps it was due to the fact that it was live. I don't often witness shouting matches and would cower in fear/embarassment if I come across any. So it gave me that "uh-oh" feeling. Similiar to life-like situations.

As they were fighting, a woman(Samantha Schubert) who was in a glittery gold blazer and matching pants strutted in and propped herself up on a table. She downed a few 'tequillas', leaving the guys puzzled as there weren't any in sight. She was apparently God and obviously Patrick and Gavin did not believe her and started to laugh at her. Then they fired her with questions such as birthday, favourite colour, favourite book and finally accepted that she is, indeed God. She explains to them that they are put together to help each other out to solve their unresolved problems in life. And she teaches Patrick to drink the 'tequillas' as 'it is all in the mind now'.

This only leaves Gavin and Patrick feeling worse and more agitated. The both of them then calmed down and we find out that Gavin didn't die of a car accident as he said earlier, but because he killed himself. Patrick's worst fear about death is facing his wife(who died ages ago) as she would ask him about her children. He was scared because he's not able to tell her that they're fine. He made a mess with his relationship with them. And that was his problem and he has to face that.

The scene then shows us David talking to Doreen about how he should've been closer to their father. He understands how his father feels now as he himself has a son who's abit of a rebel too. However, Doreen doesn't seem to be affected by Patrick's death at all. Patrick's drops in on David's dream and wants to be close to Patrick. David seems to be cold to his father and he said that there was no way they could be close now. He deemed his father unreal. Nothing can be changed. He also said that he is numb towards his father and that not even his father can take that feeling away from him. Dejected, Patrick enters Doreen's dream. Doreen saw him and asked him if he wanted tea, coffee or anything and he said no, but she kept standing up to go make him some, he then loses his temper and shouts at her. Leaving her staring at him, expressionless.

He then sits her down and asks her if she remembers the time his mother met an old boyfriend for tea and how he beat her(Doreen) up when he found out that they kept it from him. Apparently he beat her up so bad that she was limping by the end of it. He felt so bad and called her over to apologize. She said, "It's alright. I deserved it..". Patrick then told her(in recent time), that, that night, he cried so much. He wanted his daughter to know that he cares for her but doesn't know how.
The sad part was when he was leaving and she said, "I never liked you, dad." and he was very quiet and he sighed, and said, "it's alright. I never liked me anyway.". After that, Doreen wakes up and she hugs David.

After that, it was time to solve Gavin's problem. His problem was because of his girlfriend. This character is played by Carmen Soo. His girlfriend was supposedly abit older than him. And that they've been living for two years now. One day she told him that she's been thinking about setting up a family, settling down. He told her straight that he never wants to get married, and never wants children, ever. He quickly told her that he loved her very much. But it was no use. She left. Soon after, he heard that she was getting married. Very very upset, he decided to take his own life.

We then have Carmen Soo in a blazer suit with a pair of strict looking glasses and her hair up in a firm bun. She is sipping wine while staring at a picture of Gavin. She reminisce about how they first met, how comfortable she feels with him. She said that lately, she sees him almost everywhere. But she knows it's not real. She gets all these heartbreaking lines and as she recites it, Gavin nuzzles her hair and puts a hand to her cheek, very perfume model like. Very sexy. And sad. She then proceeds to take off her blazer, releaving a tailored shirt. She removes her skirt and reveals a petticoat. She then unbuttons her tailored shirt and reveals a silk nighty. She removes her glasses and sets it upon the table. Mind you, she's still going on with her lines about how she misses him so and how she's not planning on getting married. Ever. She then removes the chopstick in her hair and her long hair tumbles down..and WHOA. Total transformation:)

Gavin can now go in peace because he understands it all now. God makes another reappearence. This time, she offers Gavin a smoke. Gavin says, "God smokes!?" and she sniffed and say, "What, you think I'm gonna let you people do it and not have some myself?". He sends Gavin off to a corner to concentrate on the 'ciggarette'(it's all in the mind, remember?) THis part gave me a good chance to oggle Gavin abit more. Such a pretty boy! God proceeds to talk to Patrick about his problems. Mostly about his wife.

God leaves and the two men sits back on the chair. They thanked each other solemnly and they now know that they are able to proceed to the next stage. Gavin invites Patrick to come along with him. Patrick said, "no, I'll stay here for awhile more..".. Gavin, being inquisitive, enquires, "why?" Patrick smiles and say, "oh, no, I'm waiting for someone." Gavin asks again, "really? Who?" Patrick smiles sheepishly and says, "My wife. She knows I can never get anywhere alone." Gavin understands perfectly but we know he is sad too because he never experienced more of life and it was clear that Patrick did not want to make Gavin sad.

The lights darkens to nothingness and the studio is bright again when the entire cast came out to take a bow:)

Great play. Good flow of tears from me, melissa and a bit of the audience.

It was so hyped up by the media, but sadly it was not a full house.

After that,we took their autographs. Chew Kin Wah remembers me!! hahaha. He told patrick, "Careful ar, this girl watches tv." Erm..k..?
I felt like kicking myself in the ass for forgetting to take pictures!!! We got everyone's autograph except Maya Abdullah's.

In 21 hours

The exams are done with!! YEA!!! But that'll be another 6 weeks before the real thing.T_T. But nevertheless, I'll rejoice.

I decided to take the car to college yesterday morning as I needed to post my Invent Your Scent Body Shop Contest. Fortunately the morning jam was actually moving and I managed to make it to college in time despite parking a million miles away. What's new? Damn spaces.

Come to think of it, I must've been pretty early.:)Could still take pictures! That's actually my unsporting classmates.:(

Thinking Skills was not as mind blogging as the 1st semester exam.. but it was held at the Gallery and good god.. It was freezing. Didn't think of taking a jacket because I only had to go to college for two hours. ^_^

After the exams, half our class decided to adjourn to Pyramid for a good round of.... er,something. The non-subang people were quite enthusiastic about it yesterday. "Pyramid got ice skating rink!! We go skate ok!!".. But alright, I'm sure if I didn't grow up in Subang and did not go to Pyramid like almost every other day(when I was abit younger),then I suppose I'll be pretty ecstatic. Heck, going to One-U gets me all tingly with excitement!! .. So many damansara people rolling their eyes now, no?

We arrived an hour later as I had to send my contest in. It was nice of Jocelyn, chien and Gan to follow me along:) I really hope I win it... 9 bottles of Invent Your Scent! How cool is that?

Actually it's supposed to be on the back of an envelope .. and it only  requires words. I like doing these things. I just go abit further:).The contest required me to combine a few of the scents together and come up with cool appropriate names and a tagline. I hope to catch their eyes alittle. ;)

We had lunch at A&W and Chien, Jocelyn and Gan were eating at Genki. Genki is right opposite A&W...separated by an escalator and a couple more metres. I ordered..hehe,FRIED CHICKEN, and was quite worried that Chien was looking at me from Genki with a pair of binoculars.(She's helping me to watch my eating habits).

I felt quite sleepy by then because I only slept at 2am the night before... There wasn't a movie that we could see that would fit into our schedule. So we.. er shopped for awhile. Didn't really buy anything! But I did buy Chien's bday present! A pair of flipflops! I know chinese strongly forbid the buying of shoes..something like, asking the person to walk away or something. :D Chien, go, shoo.. walk away! walk away! .. I shared it with Mel. Chien was feeling so bad.. ah shut up woman it's your birthday soon. Haha.. you should've seen her face. LOL.

Walked around abit more.. though I'd rather be sleeping at home. But it's the last day of trials!!

I quite like this pink bag i saw in Nose! Practical and pretty!

l-r: Shi Wen(woops!), Lie Yuen, Siau Ying and Myself!

;D So silly, the camera covered my face. But it's good enough. The big mirror capturing me and almost the entire interior of Nose.

hehe.. one of those kiddie stalls. These type of doggietoys have the softed most silkiest fur. But nothing beats RUSS.

Arvind checking out some weird ties.

The lot of us! Not much, but it's almost the majority of the class.

Bumped into Chooi Chuan and Yen Hou at pyramid:)

After a hellish driving experience back to Subang..(involved Su-Chien screaming, me screaming, jocelyn and gan tumbling about in the backseat).. we arrived, safe and sound and frazzled at my place. Couldn't turn in because my neighbour had some workers over and I was shit pissed because of an entire day of driving and just leaned on the horn. Instead my mother rushed out and asked me why am I so fierce. I'm not fierce. I just want to drive in. ARGH.

Fortunately after that, it was a smooth journey everywhere. Went back to Chien's place and proceeded to pick Mel up and then head off to Villa for a swim(planned for a eons ago). Hsien brought her sister along and the guys were supposed to join us after foosball/futsal. Min Dee joined us too! It's been so long!

I took some pictures, but Chien was adamant about me not putting the pictures up in my blog. One of my cousins told me that he saw someone viewing my blog in a cybercafe.

I'll just crop myself and the girls out and take a picture of the water;D

Holiday Villa, Subang. Where for art thou Malaysian Idols?

The management was more strict than usual yesterday. They demanded to know if we signed out guests in. mel had a card, Su-Chien didn't. I did. Kay Hong did but he didn't sign Chun Guan in. But nevermind! We paid them anyway. :(
Kay Hong swam half way and started to feel sick because he drank too much water when he jumped in. LOL. Then he was like, "JOLENE, LOOK! DOGGIE STYLE!" (he was paddling with his hands and his legs vertically. Like a real doggie. LOL. And then he climbed out of the pool and lay down on the side of the pool like a dead piece of seaweed. He started to feel really sick and nauseous. LOL. All his own doing.

After everyone else arrived, (Adrian, Yijin and E-guy).. we left to go back to change for dinner later that night. When I went home,it was about 8pm and Chin Ju came to fetch us at 9.30pm.

It was 9.30pm and we were heading to Hartamas for dinner at Soul Out.
Chin Ju gave us a roller coaster ride all along the highway. The speed was almost tangible. (No such thing, I know. But yea, almost). 150km/h. Or am I just being a sad pathetic boring human for having a fear of speed?

E-guy reading the menu to Nigel and his missus,Michelle. :D

Awwww..Nigel and Michelle;)

No awwws please. We're just cam whores. Myself and Kay Hong.

top left clock wise direction: Amanda, Melody, Michelle, Su-Chien, Adrian(YOU'RE TIP-TOE-ING or what?!), Abby, Myself and Su-Hsien.

Barry's yummy dinner. We had to remain from eating as we were waiting for the rest.. sigh. Barry, I love your broccoli.

l-r: E-guy and Mel.

Barry doing the puffed cheek thing while waiting for the rest. hehe, no. Just a shot of him when he wasn't ready.(He was originally doing a magnificooz pose)

The lot of us:)

Sei ham sap lou and Su-Chien.

l-r: Adrian and Yijin.
Shy for what?!

l-r: Abby, Su-HSien.

l-r: Me and Chin Ju

l-r: Yijin and Abby.

Sei ham sap lou and Amanda.

Not something to be done when you're supposed to be driving.*tuts in disapproval*

Me and Abby!:)

After dinner, we dropped Amanda back in USJ16 as she was feeling very tired. She was unusually quiet the whole night.:(
And then we decided to fetch Abby home and half way through, chien said, "Oh man, so fast right go home.. we only just got out..". True, true. It was only at 9.30++ that we arrived at Hartamas.. somehow we didn't feel satisfied. So we made a u-turn and chipped in money for the NPE highway and proceeded all the way to Bangsar. Kay Hong and Barry joined us even though they were already at home. We went to 11:15.. the club which has different themes every 6 months or so. Ooh! Reshmonu was there. Tried to take some pictures of him but it was just too dark. We didn't stay long though as it was pretty late. Proceeded to drive back to Subang soon after that and dropped Abby(of course), which means close to an hour worth of journey back. Yijin kept trying to scare Chien and Abby with ghost stories. Naturally I'm the braver one among them, hehe..:D and wanted to hear more. Nevermind, Yijin, one day you can tell me the ABCDE ghost story clearer. Thanks Adrian for sending me back:) Even though you kept turning around to join in the fun..;(. I know la we're damn happening at the back.:P

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
