My Poohole

Alright fellas, it's confirm. I kena National Service! I called this morning and was just staring at the phone in stupor because it kept redialling when the Telephone Gods decided to put me through and the poor government servant on the other end was heloo?heloo?ing away.

So she confirmed my details with me and told me that I'm in the list. Why does it still seem so surreal? .. But I suppose if all goes well, it'll happen in one year's time.

LOL I accidentally smsed Douglas Lim my "wahahahahhaa.. I kena ns.. confirmed liao.. bwaaaa..." sms that I sent to all my friends.. lol.. woops I immediately apologized.;P
But it was an excuse on its own anyway..:P Midnite lily, I know you sure kutuk me again.. haha.. :P (Midnite Lily is a director at Vision New Media..)

I smsed Min Dee and told her about my national service thingie. And she replied, asking, "Who's this?"
then I typed back, "Wou.... remember me, Jolene Lai? the girl who hangs in the same crowd as you and used to go for add maths tuition with you? T_T".. lol. Then she was like, "HAIYA..sorry la..!! My handphone kena stolen ma.."
LOL..

Woke up in the middle of the night(8am) to go to the Immigration office in Subang to renew my passport(told Nigel I was renewing my Visa or else they'd send me back to my original country. And he was like, "yea, like what, Christmas Island?") and was reading the papers on the way there. So many Malaysian jokes in The Star today..put me in the Merdeka Mood only.

Felt very very very malaysian at the Immigration..Only at places like these, as in, government deparments, the diversity of races is really obvious. Maybe I'm just abit tooooo patriotic today.

But one thing will never change: I still hate government departments.

You take a number, and wait for it to appear on the ugly digital screen, and sit on tilted chairs with stains that are very disturbing looking on their cushions and bear with the steely attitude of the damn government servants who are rude to you/won't look you in the eye/order you around/doesn't smile.

AND I HATE THE HOURS AND HOURS OF WAITING!

I actually brought my Physics notes there to study. But fell asleep on the chairs and the rows are all so close to each other that when someone leans back..it creates a domino effect to the back. I was sleeping and these young primary school kids were clapping their hands and laughing and disturbing each other-physically. Kept pushing my chair and screaming in my ears. They even played with my brother's hair while he was sleeping. I turned behind and glared at them and then at their parents. Then their parents were like, "Shh, shh, dun play la... shh..". Good to know that the parents are capable of embarassment. Then IN FRONT..there was this damn couple who kept holding each other and had to swing their arms around each other... hence crumpling my newspaper in the process!! GRR!! INI TEMPAT AWAM TAU TAK!! Where are the farkin DBKL people when you need them for preventing such 'unwanted public display of affection'?

The guys manning the photostatting machine were quite weird too. There was this glass in between and we could pass our ICs to them from beneath the glass. But this very modern immigration centre didn't poke any holes in the glass. Everytime one of the guys(who resembled a very skinny, buck-toothed version of Gary from 8tv) couldn't hear me, he'd press his oily ears up against the window. 0_0

I was in a pretty bad mood because it was damn early and i have to do my passport, I mean i don't NEED my passport, such a bother. When I went to the counter, I left my newspapers on the chair and I told myself that if anybody were to steal it from me I'd scream at him and snatch it back from the person. I turned around and sure enough a man picked the papers up and sat behind and started to flip through. He caught my eye and gave me a sign asking if he could borrow the papers.. similiar to those suave man giving you a toast with their champagne glasses. He was pretty uncle-ish..but he's quite polite so i just smiled and nodded my consent. I'm still a nice person, see?

...Must study now.

Oh, get this, one random guy from ICQ sent me a message:
Roughrider: i am horny guy, want to talk about sex with an Asian hot girl... are you
                the one?
Me: No. I'm a fat european woman. Go away.
Roughrider: Ok..I am so sorry for bothering. Have a nice day! bye!!
Me: thank you.
Roughrider: You welcome. :-)

geez. he wants sex and he's damn polite about it. *kau tau*

ohohohohoh.. a joke I read from the papers today..
"Why did the Malaysian cross the road?"
"why else.. to see the accident across the road, of course!"

For 3 Months, Life Will Stand Still.

As you all know, when I have terrible news, my blog won't be in its usual colours.

To top it all off, I haven't studied at ALL today. And the time now is 11 fucking 03.

Earlier in the day, when I was drying my hair, I was idly checking out who's on MSN.. and Adrian was on.. he was like, "Jo, check already or not NS.." then I said, No.. tomorrow only out what... then he's like, "Shit,I got through the line.. shit shit shit.."

Then I gave him my IC number to check for me also. I smsed the National Service sms service and apparently I didn't get. But I'm not sure if the answer is reliable or not because the results are only coming out tomorrow or something. The reply was that I didn't get. So I was like, "oh,ok.."

Whereelse Adrian told me later that I got in.. coz when he called the guy on the phone said something like, "Lai Pei Shan ya?"
He continued to ask about my personal details and asked me to call them back. Of course I tried calling them for soooo many times while I was at the post office pos-laju-ing my entry for the Seventeen 2nd Anniversary Giveaway.(I saw Mun Teng there, btw.)

It's not my fault I can't get through right?

The whole day I was laughing at Adrian telling him things like, "hahaha..as if I'll believe you.." ... Adrian is one hell of a cheeky fella. Not surprising if he's lying to me. But for a full 12 hours I've been pestering him already whether I really got in..he said yes yes.. they even asked about my marital status. Then Adrian laughed and the man on the phone said, "ini tak boleh main-main tau"..
WAHHHHHHHHHH..

CAN ANYBODY GET ME PREGNANT IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE NS STARTS??

Ok,DADDY(read: ARTHUR LAI, read, your name here~!!dad read read read!!), I'm just joking! (My father has just discovered my blog through my brother's blog/by keying JOLENE LAI into Google) ;-_-

I don't know for sure before I get the letter but HE CALLED AND THE GUY SAID I'M IN!!!!!!
I checked m A-levels calender and the NS terms... and if I do join, the third batch will be ideal as I've just completed my A2..

But then everybody will be leaving for different universities..I'll be missing out on so many farewell parties... life will stand still without my digicam to record the life around me....!!.. My blog will become obsolete..

I've been thinking of ways that I can update from NS:
1. Write hand written entries and mail it to some trusted friend/brother(can harap or not?)
2. Get phlogger.com (blogging through sms).

I will be so sad because:

1. I will have to eat lousy food. I CAN NOT EAT CHILLI.
Good point: I will come back and scare you because I'll look like a skeleton.

2. I will have to bathe with the dirty water and in a common bathroom.
Good point: I will know what my original smell is.

3. I will not have my handphone on weekdays.
Good point: This is absurd!!!! But I'll save money.

4. I will miss my family.
Good point: I will be more polite to them when I come home.

5. My family will miss me.
Good Point: They'll spoil me more.

6. I will miss my TV!
Good Point: none, I'll still come home and watch tv. Just be thankful Homecoming has ended or not I will really bomb the government.

7. I might have to start university in January 2006 and I don't get to enjoy a full 6 months holiday where I can work somewhere cool.
Good Point: It might not be so.. my break might be for a year.

8. I will have to do physical exercise.
Good point: I don't have to throw out half my wardrobe anymore. Hallehlujah.

9. Everybody will be hanging out so much, new terms of fun will be created and I won't even be aware of it.
Good Point: My true friends will antipate my return.Muah-ha. Muah-ha.

10. I DON'T WANT TO GO SOMEWHERE FAR FAR AWAY FROM SUBANG. (unless it's the Langkawi camp..or somewhere near a beach)
Good point: my eyes are opened to a different world. BLABLABLA.

Some reasons my friends gave me:

1. Can lose weight.(kwokuang)
Mahai chauchibai... but true alsola.

2. It's after your a2 wat.(chun shiong)
I know.....but so many people will be leaving.......... damn all the farewells I'll be missing. BUAHHH.. Can i throw u all mini farewells before I go?

3. Learn surviving skills, take it as a challenge.(shian feng)
I WAS BORN INTO THE 20TH CENTURY FOR A DAMN GOOD REASON..LIFE'S NOT MEANT TO BE HARD ANYMORE.

4. Three months very short wan la.(mum)
I MISS MY MUMMY AND MY DADDY. I've never been away from home for more than 3 months.

I really hope some of my classmates get it too... though I'm not condemning any of you.. but it'd be nice to have someone who are going through the same things with me.

I'm still upset. I can't participate in after A2 plans. DAMNIT. You guys will still remember me right?

p/s: all of u who went for NS this year: Chee Kiang, yijin, chin ju, vng yan, wen bin, hsu yin, cheryl(if u ever read my blog haha.. cheryl's my aunty who's born in 86).... I know I might sound like some shithead to you.. but..
but... AT LEAST U CAN EAT CHILLI!!..:( :( :( :(

NoOOOOooOOOOoooOOOOOOoo...

Look what I found in the papers today?

85,000 picked to undergo NS

BY LAM LI
KUALA LUMPUR: A new batch of 85,000 youths born in 1987 have been selected for next year’s national service (NS) programme.

The list of those randomly selected through computerised balloting can be accessed at several government agencies’ websites and through the NS Training Department hotlines and short messaging service.

Those who wish to check can do so from Saturday. (See chart).

The names and identity card numbers of those selected will also be published in major dailies in the middle of next month.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Defence Minister and chairman of the Cabinet Committee on NS, said those enlisted should feel fortunate to be picked from a pool of 471,376 individuals.

“The Government is convinced that the programme has a positive impact on nation building and should continue.

“No other programme can draw such a mass involvement of youths to bring about significant changes to the country,” he said when launching the computer balloting yesterday.

At a press conference later, Najib said the Government had learnt from glitches and unexpected problems during the inaugural programme and promised the training would be of better quality next year.

“We will be better prepared in terms of administration, implementation, selection of trainers, camp facilities and the overall quality of training modules,” he said, adding that trainees would undergo the three-month training at 71 camps nationwide in stages.

The first intake of 28,330 trainees will undergo training from Dec 13 until March 6.

The second batch of 28,334 trainees will go through the programme from March 14 to June 3 while the last batch of 28,334 will train from July 10 to Sept 30.

Of the 85,000 youths, 60% will be bumiputras, 28% Chinese, 10% Indians and the remaining two per cent will be from other races.

Male trainees will make up 51% of those selected.

Najib said failure to report for training was an offence under the law.

NS shirkers will face a maximum jail term of half a year or a maximum fine of RM3,000 or both and they can be charged repeatedly until they undergo the training.

Asked what action had been taken against about 4,000 shirkers of the inaugural training, Najib said the case was now in the hands of the police.

“The shirkers will definitely face the music. We will not extend another last chance offer to them,” he said.
.................................................................................................................
I wouldn't mind though, as I might be getting a one year before university.  But, still! What a big thing!!!.. Will blog later about the depressing chem paper in all-out drama.

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
