U-turn Banshee

Hello, I'm just done crying my eyes out to my entire family in Subang Jaya. But I have to say thanks to everyone of them for showing me their utmost concern.

I was fetching my brother to MCD's in Taipan just now and just as I was about to do a u-turn on the road that leads to the traffic lights situated next to MPSJ, there was this stupid blue satria that was also doing a u-turn in the opposite direction. I was pretty sure the other cars weren't coming too near. So I went. And I 'makan' the road too much, went into the third line. At the same time there was this black iswara that was heading towards me.. (apparently quite fast, according to my brother). In order to avoid me, he swerved to the left, which was the curb. So there was a loud screech and he kept horning at me. I didn't know that the entire situation involved me.. so I just drove on a few metres to a traffic light. There was a fork junction next to me and the guy got out of his car and put both his hands on the hood of my car and asked me to COME DOWN AND NEGOTIATE!!!.. I was so scared I didn't know what to do. I wanted to drive away but then he was holding onto my car. He was shouting at me to come down. I was so scared I started screaming and screaming and screaming. I just kept on screaming everytime he opened his mouth. Not screaming vulgarities. Just pure horrified screams. Like when you see a dead body type of scream? That type of scream. It just kept coming.. and coming.. I think I was hoping to scare him off ? But of course, in typical Jolene fashion, the waterworks were switched on full blast. My brother was calling my mum, who in turn called almost all the relatives in Subang Jaya. My cousin Kwan Hoong and his mum, Adeline, my uncle alex, my grandfather, grandmother, my cousin Hong Weng(who was at PJ at that time) and of course, my father.

He came to the side of my window and tapped on it lightly, but still looked quite fierce. Then I meekly winded down the window since I had not much choice left. I was not going to do a runner and do a car chase. That'd be the end of me. Miraculously my car didn't even touch his car. But he was making such a big fuss. So we pulled over at USJ11.. and he called two of his friends over. His car license plate read www.vinod.com at the bottom. Anybody familiar? Then my grandfather and grandmother arrived. My grandfather, not one to hold his temper, started asking me not to cry and suggested that we report to the police. I know that if it was my granddad who was negotiating with the guy, everything would be worse. But he just kept mumbling something about "haiyah, claim insurance la!!" while walking around without looking at the indian guys. I was still crying like a mad woman. Then my uncle Alex called me on the handphone and wanted to negotiate with the guy. Apparently, he "trusted" me so we were supposed to exchange numbers. But the thought of forking out for the cost was what made me cry somemore. And what my father would have done to me when he got home. After that my aunty Adeline and cousin Kwan Hoong(he's studying in seafield) came to my aid. My father arrived half an hour later and he negotiated with my dad till they settled on RM500. His rim was abit knocked, and his "honda lights" were cracked and his number plate was loose. He wanted RM700+RM500 for the lights AND the rim. I mean with stories of Darren Kang and the lady who got rolled over by an angry driver ... we don't want to take risks now do we? I had another cousin coming to my rescue, Cousin Hong Weng who was at that time working in PJ..but arrived too late and went to my house to check on me. I feel so grateful and bad that he had to brave the jam and come all the way.

I still had to drive all the way home.

His rim...

His slightly detached number plate. (my grandfather's sexy legs in the reflection)

His "honda lights" in his iswara. Cracked.

My grandfather, not looking happy.

Me still crying(i think).. cousin brother kwan hoong in yellow..granddad leaning against the car, and grandmother in red and aunty Adeline in white.

Scary guy and a friend(who looks like Fabian of Hitzfm.)

Close up.

My car unscratched.

He called two of his friend.. his gang. I called my whole family. My gang.

I went back and dad just spoke to me nicely about whether I learnt my lesson.. and I stayed over at Chien's house that night. to help her make muffins for the SPA carnival. This afternoon while I was doing my physics experiment, Dad called me and asked me if I am feeling better and whether I had any nightmares. I tell you, it was pretty traumatic. Pray that I won't be in any scary situations like this ever again.

Rose Stained Floor

Today, Angel got her first period!!!! :D I came back after college to turn her over and give her her usual tummy rubs and baby talk before noticing that her vagina was abit swollen. QUITE swollen in fact. I saw blood clots around her fur in that region. LOL..... my mum and I then reminisced about the first time I had mine. "nola, mum, i think it is spaggheti sauce."..
:D Look at my baby through the months..

..at 1 month of age..

about 4 months old..:)

a grown woman who is full of confidence and has a great perspective on life.

Whenever I try to touch her "spot", she will get really angry:(.. must be PMS-ing.

On a lighter note, my new dining table arrived last weekend. For the first two days, my mother banned us from using the table. Snack sessions were held by the stairs and dinners were spent outside. This is the first time we used the table:

The new dining set that replaced the old wooden one that was held up by loads of masking tape.:D

My mum demonstrating how the plate should be placed on the table--silently.

OMG!! My brother is in for it for dropping that bit of Char Siew Pau filling.

Pee-poo-pee-poo..
*in case you don't know, it's supposed to be the ambulance..*

The guilty.

The studying haven't been going so well, plus tomorrow I don't think I'll be studying as I'll be busy helping Chien prepare for the SPA carnival. Mum interrupted me at about 7pm to cook a dish! I feel so useful!

Ahem, let Chef Shan show you.
1. Fry the garlic. DuhH.

2. Add the marinated chicken in and .. er, 'chau' somemore.

3. Water, oyster sauce and an egg;D
4. Added golden mushrooms and oyster mushrooms..! Stir fry somemore!!

Tada!  .. hopefully not too disgusting. Wanted to add more colour to it, but the fridge had nothing more to offer.

You know Asam? No? Ah-SEM?

Cousin Simon took a day off from his 2 and a half months backpacking holiday with his gf to come spend a day with us yesterday. Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet his girlfriend Becca who was having 'woman sickness' and wanted to have more of Penang before they head back to Malacca, Singapore and finally UK on Wednesday.

Even though it's only his second time here in Malaysia but we are just too creative as we brought him for dinner @ Yip Kee, Sunway Pyramid(which he has been to) and Bintang Walk(which he has been to too, infact he spent 5 days around that area a month ago). But nevertheless that's what Dad does when there are foreign guests of ours around. My Aunty Jenny, Cousin Hong Fei and Cousin-in-law-to-be Kwee Fong came along too and despite the crowd, we managed to find seats in a Tong Shui(for those who don't know, it's like Dessert) shop.

They have the cutest things on the menu.. for example names like Strawberry Lo or Mango Lo.. Lo in cantonese means Mix. And the best sounding was Mat To Lo.. which means Anything Also Mix.. (derived from the word Mat Tu Tak.. anything also can).
=D Mine came in a mountain of ice covered completely with Sago, Kiwis, Strawberries, Balls of honeydews and mangoes.. mmmmmmm..:)

I love KL at night and would love to walk all over the city with my-future-him one day. :) The atmosphere is just so great. But let's just hope that I won't get mugged? :)
The cooling atmosphere(much thanks to those vapour fans) and the laid back crowd, there's just something so special about nights in KL. I'm not like your normal young person when I think KL, I don't think "OOOOH CLUBBING LA"...I think great food, great crowd, great scene, great shopping, great lifestyle. I'm definitely a city person.

One day I will own an apartment in the heart of the city which overlooks the entire KL Skyline. There'll be no more sexual assaults(i'll be so lucky?) from anonymous hands in the big new year eve crowds @ bb/klcc/sunway when we watch the amazing display of fireworks as we usher in the new year.

The ceiling in my room(in my dream KL apartment) will be made of glass. My roof will be like those of convertible cars? My roof will only be needed when the sun is too warm.:) But it'll be fun too. Let the sun warm my bed all it wants.. my air-condition will be on 24/7 .. a warm bed in a cold room. ?! :) It might just happen one day. So, on a new year's eve in a number of years to come, I'll be lying in the arms of a husband/great boyfriend, watching the fireworks display on our beds and be in awe when some of the sparks fall upon our ceiling. Then the husband/great boyfriend will probably say something corny like, "Shall I catch the falling stars and keep in your pockets, my dear?"..

To which I will reply with a slightly raised eyebrow, "Mmm, which pocket?" and the both of us will laugh knowingly and the curtains and the roof will be drawn close(in case a helicopter comes by).

lol. I just love KL la.

Not that Subang's not great.I like Subang because it's central but as I'm getting older I'm starting to despise the traffic. We only hear fireworks. But maybe now that I've got this extra large porch roof.. I can climb and sit outside to look for the source of the fireworks. But my mum will probably be worried about me falling down and splitting my skull, so scratch that. But it'll be cool wouldn't it? So 3rd Rock From the Sun. Haha:D

Now let me snap back to reality.

Parents went out living brother and I at home as we needed to 'study'. So when I was 'studying', I saw Hsien online and she was like, "yea, and later you got 'tuition' right?" Then I was like, "Fark, oh ya hor.".. Brother and I had a heavy MCd's dinner before heading off to tuition. Now, my house in under renovations and everything's done except the damn gate. After a mind boggling two and a half hours of math @ Mr.Chan's, I drove back(alone. WOW) to a gate-less house. Fortunately my new sensor light is living up to its name and it brightened my path as I drove into the house. Just a couple of months back the lady who stays in front of my house was pushed to the ground when she came out of her car and the thug drove away with her car. I hurried out of the car to give the light a wave(so that it doesn't turn off too fast) with both my arms before running to the grill door and hurried in. My heart was thumping so badly. Adrenaline and all. Not a nice feeling. But glad to report to you guys that I'm safe and sound.:)

Now let me finish my tea and go back to some studying.(note the time I'm blogging this).

I'm now having this funny weird chat with Yen Hou on MSN. Let me enlighten you lot:

YH:yes....and tomorrow I got class...I want to skip one day...but cannot find a suitable date..
Me:...
YH:yeah...sometimes I think about why am I whining so much...
YH:life is much mroe challenging..
YH:this is like the easier stages..
Me: it is
Me: there will be a time in life where u'll worry if u'll have enough for your parents' medicals bills and your kids' education fund at the same time.
YH:yup..so I shudnt be whining now!
Me: and the car installments are not done, the house, you have 10 more years of bank loan to pay up to..
Me:and ur wife is expecting a 4th child
YH:ahahha true true.....what have u gotta worry then in the future
YH:?
Me:the worst scenario?
Me:ok
Me: it'll be my gambler husband who is sleeping with his secretary?
Me:and my lepak-phile son
Me:and my straight a scorer daughter who suddenly falls pregnant
Me: and i myself battling with breast cancer
Me:and my mum or dad can't stay with me because they're too sick
Me: and i don't have enough money because of the fucking gambler bastard
Me:and my brother must've gotten killed by a car 20 years back which is why he can't take care of my sick parents ...or as he just suggested, "terikut-ikut my gambler husband".
Me:*touch wood*
YH: hahahha ...this is really the worse case scenario
YH:ok cut it out
YH:too gross oredi
Me:my brother who is reading this also touches alot of wood nearby
Me:lol
YH:LOL
Me: what's UR worst scenario?
Me:we'll talk abou the happy ending later;D
YH:dun want to think about it.....tot of it too much the last time.....got depressed felt really like [he inserted a poopoo emoticon here]...
YH:rather think of happy stuff and opportunities

By the way, I just downloaded some songs of the 13 going On 30 soundtrack. And any of you remember the song where they take pictures for that yearbook idea they did or was it the part where Jenna goes to Matt's place on his wedding day?

The title of it is called Vienna and it's by Billy Joel. A damn meaningful song(with a great tune too!)
Slow down you crazy child
You're so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you're so smart tell me why
You are still so afraid?

Where's the fire, what's the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only
So many hours in a day

But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you an just get old
You're gonna kick off before you even get halfway through
When will you realize
Vienna waits for you

Slow down you're doing fine
You can't be everything you want to be
Before your time
Although it's so romantic on the borderline tonight
Too bad but it's the life you lead
You're so ahead of yourself
That you forgot what you need
Though you can see when you're wrong

But you know you can't always see when you're right
You got your passion you got your pride
But don't you know only fools are satisfied?
Dream on, but don't imagine they'll all come true
When will you realize
Vienna waits for you

Slow down you crazy child
Take the phone off the hook
And disappeaar for a while
It's alright you can afford to lose a day or two
When will you realize
Vienna waits for you.

Feel the lyrics? I don't know if I can relate to that.. but it just sounds like me after one too many sex and the cities, chic lit or hollywood chick flicks. I must remember that at 17, we don't have to worry about where to send the kids to college or how you're gonna save for them.. or where will you stay when you're married, or of my future wonderful marriage even.

Perhaps Vienna will wait for me. :)

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
