Uh Oh, I Have Taken An Interest In Football.

A very late night out to celebrate Josiah and Xin Yi's birthday proved to be a very new experience for me.

We went to this bistro which was situated in this abandoned mall so they converted the concourse area into a seating place. Quite eerie setting I would way as the only lights illuminating the patrons' faces were blue in colour.

Obviously there would be a white screen and projector whereever there are human beings and beer during the World Cup season. I was quite intrigued because this would be my first match(if I paid attention) of the season. England was playing against this country with a damn strange name called Trinidad and Tobago.

I hate to admit it but I find the sports section so nice and fun to read these days! :) Sports are ACTUALLY good reads. After the whole Mahathir and Badawi spat, nothing else was good in the papers.

Oooh ooh, I was lucky. I was in time to watch the beginning of a game. (Oh look at me, knowing how to insert the word 'game' at the correct places. :))

Maxis was seating next to me so the poor fella got bugged.

I summoned the very little knowledge I had about football and asked him a whole barrage of questions. "EH... I thought Dwight Yorke played for Manchester United? How come he playing for Trinidad and Tobago one?"

Ah. You must be amazed how I know Dwight Yorke even exists. I was introduced to the internet by my football loving cousin brother Hong Weng while he was studying for his SPM examinations and I was waiting for my UPSR results at that time. Needless to say, we spent quite alot of time chilling in Malacca at that time and he would bring me to football websites and let me see the handsome footballers on his soccer magazines. Michael Owen was still young then. (ANOTHER FOOTBALLER THAT I KNOW. I'M ON A ROLL, DAMNIT.)

"Because he is from that country one ma......." said Maxis, eyes fixed on the screen.

"You must be so amazed hor that I know who is Dwight Yorke?" I asked Maxis.
"Ya, very geng very geng." he replied, without taking his eyes off the screen.

"So that means you must play for your own country?" I asked again.
"Ya ya ya... WORLD cup what. These are not football clubs."
"Ah..." I was getting educated.

I smsed Chee Kiang and told him that I'm actually watching football and that I actually know who Dwight Yorke is and told him I know why Dwight is playing for Trinidad and Tobago. He was quite shocked. Not about Dwight, but about me caring about football.

At this point, the England Team were preparing to come out to the pitch.

I screamed, "DAVID BECKHAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The camera panned over to a little kid holding his hand. "WAH!! Brooklyn so big boy already ar???" I was so excited that Beckham's junior actually went to give moral support to his dad.

"Haiyoh, tradition lah. Every player holds a child to go out to the field."

Another football knowledge instilled:D

Damnit, those England players are so hot. People shout "GOAL!!!", I pulak shout, "WAH SEI LENGCHAI!!!!"

I was enjoying the game and giving the necessary cheer every now and then. I turned to Lie Yuen and Angela after awhile, "England what colour ar?"

"HAH?? You cheer so loud for what then???" they laughed.

Hahhaa. woops.

Okay, okay. I WAS interested in the game. I know I know, it was a blah match. But do forgive the football virgin because even looking at the ball rolling across the pitch and being hit from one end to the far side of the other end was quite interesting. Like I didn't know that Yorke actually grabbed his own balls in pain on national tv.

I had a fun time watching Crouch. I asked Maxis, "Why he always stand in one corner one?"

He said, "So he can use his head and pass the ball back to his teammates."

I wonder why Crouch's head is not swollen yet. But damnit, his legs are SO thin and SO long. Whatever he kicks fly far far away because of his extensively long legs.

I KNOW WHO ROONEY IS!! Yes. I've been reading the papers. He is a young football player who has a girlfriend who is famous for her shopping habits. He looks so surly. I think he reminds me of Victor Krum from Harry Potter. Okay, from what I've googled, I now know that he is England's weapon and that he is very powerful. Apparently playing against him is like playing against ten men.

Everytime one of the players nearly scores a goal, we would sream and shout. hahahaha. Now i know why football is so fun. No, I'm not being pretentious like I was during the last world cup. I tried watching a Brazil match at home alone and turned the tv off after 2 minutes.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the goals.. Lie Yuen was worried about her embryology notes back home. (She was as excited about the game too...but studies first!:))

I would love to see another match as noob as I sound. All the anticipation for the ball to go into that square thing with the net.. Unfortunately no television and exams are drawing close.

But I think it'll only be fun for me if I have an extreme football fan next to me, ever ready to answer my endless stream of questions.

Now that I have a slight interest in football.. I will need to learn the rules and different positions played..tactics and et cetera.

Getting Away For A Weekend

It's strange how I love my hair the most after rolling around for many bouts of naps(sigh, procrastination takes the best of me) and after tying my hair up in the stuying-hairstyle, my hair tumbles down just the way I like it right before the entire day ends. It looks worst in the day. Why?!

My finals are coming in slightly less than a month and everytime I think about it, I get scared. Because if you get a D, you'll have to stay back in Kedah for an oral examination. And if you fail that you'll have to resit the papers. And if you fail the resit examination, you'll have to repeat the entire year. :( Just thinking of it makes me wanna puke.

It sucks. My pimples have found new regions to conquer(my poor neck) and my period is late because I am stressed. Stress pushes my period further and further away. I hate having periods because it would mean an entire day lost. Or maybe two. I'd roll around in pain and be damn depressed.

I went to Penang with Chee Kiang awhile back just for a one day trip. We took the ferry from Butterworth and I've always imagined the ferries(sp?) to look like the ones they use to ferry us to Langkawi. But goodness gracious. The ones the Penangites use are like bloody METAL ISLANDS. It's so huge it carries 300 passengers and about 20 cars on its lower levels.

At the entrance of the terminal.

I thought the sampans looked quite authentic!

The area around the jetty is so nicely undeveloped. :)

OHMIGOD It looks like a school hall.

Sorry I'm jakun.

I can't remember why i took this shot..I was just going snap snap snap.

ck and I.

They even sell food aboard the ferry! How cool is that? It's like you can't even feel that the ferry is moving since it was so damn big.

My third time going to Penang Island! :)

The other end of the terminal. Sorry lorh, cheap thrills. Little girl never see big ass ferry terminals before mah.

NOW that's a pretty trishaw!! Compared to the ugly ones in Malacca, all the flower and bells and stuff. UGH. I've never sat in a trishaw before. If I had more time, I would've tried to ride in one. But I was afraid that the trishaw puller would look at me and say, "No...too heavy." :(

Ck suggested that we eat at Pulau Tikus first before proceeding to Gurney Plaza. I also don't know anything, just follow the leader.

Duck porridge, apparently. Not too bad lah.

Dimsum!!

I felt quite sad looking at this old grandmother sitting alone eating her lunch.

I caught my reflection and swiftly took out my camera.

Ck ordered Char Kuay Teow.. but it was spicy so I didn't try. I did eat Char Kuay Teow without chilli later on though.

Chee Cheong Fun. It's nice!!

Okay, I know this is nothing new.. but I like authentic chinese shoplots. A god guards the door of every home, that sort of thing.

Apparently this is the most expensive condominium in Penang. Two units per level. That's huge.

Quite nice right? A slightly high class kampung. Oh if you're wondering why I was taking all these pictures..we were walking from Pulau Tikus to Gurney Plaza....no car ma what to do? And we were not sure which buses to take. But at least Ck knew his way. He goes back to Penang to see his grandmother and Aunty pretty often and spent the first four years of his life in Penang. Not like he would have explored alot as a toddler...but at least he knew Penang better than me, the noob.

This is Gurney Drive. I was sorely disappointed. I thought it was big, with sprawling tourist paraphernalia and a beach and dotted with eateries to attract all kinds of tourists.

Now now, it's not often you get to see an iron wrought gate.

After Gurney Plaza(nothing much to scream about, if you've seen One Utama and KLCC, you've seen it all), we went to another hawker place before we decided to call it a day.

Along Gurney Drive, there's a strip of sand and rocks by the sea. We went there to catch some breeze.

My hair was blown all over the place.

It's quite nice and serene. But it would have been better if the area was wider.

Camwhoring with the lovely background.

Only the sea can calm his troubled heart........

We wanted a photo with the wind catching my hair..but unfortunately, my hair was too heavy. Sigh.

Nope. Still no strong gust of wind.

Okay, done with the seaside moments.

Since I still had alot to catch up with back in Kedah, we decided to call it a day and I went back to Sg. Petani while he went on to stay with his grandmother and Aunty in Penang.

The Big Ass Ferry.

It's SO cool that cars can travel along.

It really looks like a harbour.

SO CUTE!!! Even the bird wanted a free ride.

You know how most of the bus stations have a service to help you keep your luggage? We might have to reconsider our options. THIS is how they keep your luggage for you. There's a laptop in one of those cages.

The bus ride back to Sungai Petani was like a water ride. Where water pours on you every now and then. HATE PUBLIC BUSES THAT SUCK.

Ck got souvenirs for a few (guy)friends back home. ;P I myself bought my housemates some souvenirs too. I bought Lip gloss for them. I persuaded him to get the 'sexy bikini' ones. He thought it was a cute keychain. But what he doesn't know is that those are actually Sexy Bikini Lip Glosses!! Hahaha. Hope you like it, Daryl, Justin, Eu-Foh and Jon!! :)

Lie Yuen's Surprise Party And A Bit More

One thing bad about having an extremely knowledgable fast talking lecturer from India is that.... you just can't catch up.

and yes. my notes-taking handwriting very the ugly. But according to my classmate Desmond, it was the most ledgible one in the class. If there are any smart ass med/dentistry students out there, don't correct my notes. I'll check the spelling in the books later.

Yesterday's lunch was crazily overpriced. Just LOOK at those food lah. The eggs are pretty, yes. Next to it are some calamari/sotong rings. YOU KNOW I ONLY HAD A SPOON FULL OF THAT AND THEY CHARGED ME RM4.60??? What the hell!! And I was greedy and I took two pieces of fried chicken, two eggs, and a scoop of calamari.. from your mamak clone restaurant's Nasi Kandar selection.

You DON'T pay RM11.20 for a plate of Nasi Kandar stuff. Nonono. I didn't even take rice.

OH Yeah! The great mystery revolving around my pink hair tie's whereabouts has finally been solved. I don't know, I just looked up from my notes..and ta-da. It was hiding underneath some files and notes. Over a mountain and next to the sea...

Alright, I'll get to the point. We gave Lie Yuen a semi surprise party for her 21st birthday on Wednesday. You know usually surprise parties are usually done in a manner whereby people would gather as a group and yell "SURPRISE!!!"

But we were more creative. We had everybody walking in from various directions to give Lie Yuen a constant stream of surprise. Hahaha. Nah, it just happened to be like that.

I'll name those who are looking at the camera.
L-r: brenda, Pei Zhi, Andy, Sock Nee, Xin Yi, Joe, Angela

L-r: Ebi, Me, Brenad, Pei Zhi, Joe and Angela

The latest pair-up in class: Jimmy and Sock Nee. :)

L-r: Zhu Zen, Jamie, Lie Yuen, Sett, Ee Chean and Ah Thong

Maxis poser..

L-r: Narjit and Poh Yee.

Now now.....before anyone launches into a fit of "ARGHHH COPY CAT COPY CAT COPY CAT"..I choose to use the phrase, INSPIRED, by a host of various bloggers who jazz up their photos. :) I've just discovered the wonders of downloadable photoshop brushes!! *heartheartheartheart*

My inspiration for the following semi imitations: KinkyBlueFairy, Xiaxue, Zephele, Jasiminne.

Yan Rui and Lishen

Back: Sett, Chee Wen, Jimmy
Front: Chwan Horng, Ee Chia, Andy

The service was so bad we had to play card games like Uno. Damn retro.

The Pink Ladies!(though they are far from it..they are good girls!)
L-r: Wuan Phing, Jamie, Lie Yuen

That's Nien ..the lass in the black top!

A lovely sunset in between the shops.

ANDY DON'T LAH ALWAYS MAKE SPOIL MY PHOTOS....SIEN LOR YOUUU..*throws table*

OH OH... I was having so much fun with my new brushes...I created this for Zhu Zen!! Nice or not?????? I love the wings. :D

The lot of us..too many to name. Surely you know who is that big obstruction at the front of the pic right? It can't be THAT long since I last camwhored to have you guys forget how I look like.

A cute photo of Andy.

Clockwise from me: ME, Chee Wen, Andy, Angela, Brenda, Lie Yuen, Ee Chia

L-r: Yan Rui, Lishen, Joe, Chwan Horng, Ee Chean.

Behind: Yan Rui, Lishen, Joe, Jimmy, Ah Thong
Front: Zhu Zen, Steffi, Sett, Priscilla, Kenn, Nien.

If you're wondering why Steffi, Pris and Kenn look unfamiliar, that's because they are from the pharmacy course.

Lishen mianging Yan Rui

L-r: Brenda, Lie Yuen, Ee CHia

Lie Yuen blows her cake in style.

About 30 of us went... the cafe only had us. Can carry out blog meets in these kinda quaint cafes. Lousy food, lousy service but HANDSOME OWNER.

And they had a fan facing upwards. So what's a girl to do?

Forgive the lame crown... was having fun with adobe.

Ooooo! My favourite picture.

A nicer photo of most of the BDS course and a tiny fraction from the Pharmacy course.

Cze Yin wants to look like a model too.

So does Poh Yee. Of course.

And Joe.. he plans to go into modelling after he finishes his dental degree. We ask him to join Cleo's Most Eligible Bachelor next year okay, Brenda?

L-r: Orang Cacat, Priscilla, Jamie, Lie Yuen The Birthday Girl Woman, Steffi, Wuan Phing.

Lydia, another friend from the pharmacy course, helped Yvonne to sell her t-shirts here in AIMST. It was selling like hot cakes!! As it is for a good cause. The shirts are to raise funds for Yvonne's condition. So happened the three of us wore the t-shirt on the same day.

If you want a shirt too and help aid Yvonne's recovery..click here.

Those of you who are fortunate enough to remain in the Klang Valley unlike poor me who is stuck in Kedah until my exams are done with... go and support April lah! She's just opened a stall at the Atria Damansara's Flea Market. She'll be there on the 10th, 11th and 17th, 18th of June.

You do remember her pretty polymer clay earrings don't you??

This time around, she imported more scents and I tell you, the moment I get back to Subang, I'll look her up and buy buy buy.

Damn cute lah polymer clay earrings. She could very well be the only person I know who creates and sells polymer clay earrings. Hence, you'll be one of the very few who have cute scented edibles hanging from your ears.

April, I think I'll have a variety of items the next time. Some keychains, handphone danglies or pendants too! what about a charm bracelet? Maybe you should look into that. :)

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
