Lie Yuen's Surprise Party And A Bit More

One thing bad about having an extremely knowledgable fast talking lecturer from India is that.... you just can't catch up.

and yes. my notes-taking handwriting very the ugly. But according to my classmate Desmond, it was the most ledgible one in the class. If there are any smart ass med/dentistry students out there, don't correct my notes. I'll check the spelling in the books later.

Yesterday's lunch was crazily overpriced. Just LOOK at those food lah. The eggs are pretty, yes. Next to it are some calamari/sotong rings. YOU KNOW I ONLY HAD A SPOON FULL OF THAT AND THEY CHARGED ME RM4.60??? What the hell!! And I was greedy and I took two pieces of fried chicken, two eggs, and a scoop of calamari.. from your mamak clone restaurant's Nasi Kandar selection.

You DON'T pay RM11.20 for a plate of Nasi Kandar stuff. Nonono. I didn't even take rice.

OH Yeah! The great mystery revolving around my pink hair tie's whereabouts has finally been solved. I don't know, I just looked up from my notes..and ta-da. It was hiding underneath some files and notes. Over a mountain and next to the sea...

Alright, I'll get to the point. We gave Lie Yuen a semi surprise party for her 21st birthday on Wednesday. You know usually surprise parties are usually done in a manner whereby people would gather as a group and yell "SURPRISE!!!"

But we were more creative. We had everybody walking in from various directions to give Lie Yuen a constant stream of surprise. Hahaha. Nah, it just happened to be like that.

I'll name those who are looking at the camera.
L-r: brenda, Pei Zhi, Andy, Sock Nee, Xin Yi, Joe, Angela

L-r: Ebi, Me, Brenad, Pei Zhi, Joe and Angela

The latest pair-up in class: Jimmy and Sock Nee. :)

L-r: Zhu Zen, Jamie, Lie Yuen, Sett, Ee Chean and Ah Thong

Maxis poser..

L-r: Narjit and Poh Yee.

Now now.....before anyone launches into a fit of "ARGHHH COPY CAT COPY CAT COPY CAT"..I choose to use the phrase, INSPIRED, by a host of various bloggers who jazz up their photos. :) I've just discovered the wonders of downloadable photoshop brushes!! *heartheartheartheart*

My inspiration for the following semi imitations: KinkyBlueFairy, Xiaxue, Zephele, Jasiminne.

Yan Rui and Lishen

Back: Sett, Chee Wen, Jimmy
Front: Chwan Horng, Ee Chia, Andy

The service was so bad we had to play card games like Uno. Damn retro.

The Pink Ladies!(though they are far from it..they are good girls!)
L-r: Wuan Phing, Jamie, Lie Yuen

That's Nien ..the lass in the black top!

A lovely sunset in between the shops.

ANDY DON'T LAH ALWAYS MAKE SPOIL MY PHOTOS....SIEN LOR YOUUU..*throws table*

OH OH... I was having so much fun with my new brushes...I created this for Zhu Zen!! Nice or not?????? I love the wings. :D

The lot of us..too many to name. Surely you know who is that big obstruction at the front of the pic right? It can't be THAT long since I last camwhored to have you guys forget how I look like.

A cute photo of Andy.

Clockwise from me: ME, Chee Wen, Andy, Angela, Brenda, Lie Yuen, Ee Chia

L-r: Yan Rui, Lishen, Joe, Chwan Horng, Ee Chean.

Behind: Yan Rui, Lishen, Joe, Jimmy, Ah Thong
Front: Zhu Zen, Steffi, Sett, Priscilla, Kenn, Nien.

If you're wondering why Steffi, Pris and Kenn look unfamiliar, that's because they are from the pharmacy course.

Lishen mianging Yan Rui

L-r: Brenda, Lie Yuen, Ee CHia

Lie Yuen blows her cake in style.

About 30 of us went... the cafe only had us. Can carry out blog meets in these kinda quaint cafes. Lousy food, lousy service but HANDSOME OWNER.

And they had a fan facing upwards. So what's a girl to do?

Forgive the lame crown... was having fun with adobe.

Ooooo! My favourite picture.

A nicer photo of most of the BDS course and a tiny fraction from the Pharmacy course.

Cze Yin wants to look like a model too.

So does Poh Yee. Of course.

And Joe.. he plans to go into modelling after he finishes his dental degree. We ask him to join Cleo's Most Eligible Bachelor next year okay, Brenda?

L-r: Orang Cacat, Priscilla, Jamie, Lie Yuen The Birthday Girl Woman, Steffi, Wuan Phing.

Lydia, another friend from the pharmacy course, helped Yvonne to sell her t-shirts here in AIMST. It was selling like hot cakes!! As it is for a good cause. The shirts are to raise funds for Yvonne's condition. So happened the three of us wore the t-shirt on the same day.

If you want a shirt too and help aid Yvonne's recovery..click here.

Those of you who are fortunate enough to remain in the Klang Valley unlike poor me who is stuck in Kedah until my exams are done with... go and support April lah! She's just opened a stall at the Atria Damansara's Flea Market. She'll be there on the 10th, 11th and 17th, 18th of June.

You do remember her pretty polymer clay earrings don't you??

This time around, she imported more scents and I tell you, the moment I get back to Subang, I'll look her up and buy buy buy.

Damn cute lah polymer clay earrings. She could very well be the only person I know who creates and sells polymer clay earrings. Hence, you'll be one of the very few who have cute scented edibles hanging from your ears.

April, I think I'll have a variety of items the next time. Some keychains, handphone danglies or pendants too! what about a charm bracelet? Maybe you should look into that. :)

Oh How Times Are Changing

Do you notice how suddenly a couple of your friends will just pair up out of the blue, with no prior warning before hand?

Obviously it is none of my business, but these things are always shocking because the most unexpected of people will pair up and they won't be much fun anymore once they start pairing off.

What happened to the good ol' days of the guys patting the boy-admirer on his back and teasing him whenever the girl walk past? Or a gaggle of girlfriends of the girl giggling at the boy-admirer.

I remember back in school, when a boy likes a girl, it will be made known to the entire school. People will start to tease the both of them. That's the first hint which the girl will get. He will probably order a rose or a cheap gift from whichever school societies which are offering the services in order to raise funds. The girl will feel so proud that her name gets called when the delivery boy comes to the class and she will stride up to the front, blushing, and taking the rose/gift and going back to her chair to sit down and blush somemore.

A chrous of "Oooooooh" will ripple through her class. And she blushes more.

We don't really know what they do together because that is their business. For all I know it could probably be late night chats through ICQ, hours long phone calls and sometimes maybe daily walking home sessions.

Slowly.. the more you see them walking together around school, the closer it is to the day that the guy will......"ask for couple" from the girl.

Hahaha. Such events usually take place over the phone/under a tree/on a bench.
Don't know why, but that's how it usually happened. LOL.

Letters passing are damn passe what with the freedom of communication that the internets provide.

When a guy pursues a girl, there would be a whole show about it.

Back then, I would change my ICQ Info to drop subtle hints to the guy that I like. God damn, just imagine if I was blogging already then! And how easier it is to drop all these hints. Emo poems everywhere.

I'll let you in on a few of my cannot use techniques.

I used this one quite alot:

I'd try to tell as many people about my crush and FOR SURE he'll hear about it. And see how he responds. I'd go around my friends/his friends/mutual friends and try to get the word out.

And whoever said it works? LOL.

When I was much younger, early secondary, I'd make my crushes NICE birthday cards. Hand made and stuff. Hahaha. Nope, didn't work either.

I'd find excuses to walk home with the crushes or bug them to accompany me to the shop lots or something.

I remember once I thought this prefect who was in the year BELOW me was cute. So I sent him a rose via one of those Interact/Leo services thingie. It's like if I think that this boy is easier to communicate with, my hints won't be so subtle.

Most of my crushes were scared of me. "Oh shit..JOLENE. HIDE!!" haha. :(

The only brave one who can swallow it all is dear Chee Kiang. LOL.

-

What I am trying to say is that back then, we had a period of chasing and wanting and aching before anything really materialised.

These days, mutual friends are hardly needed in the equation for anything romantic to happen between two people. Maybe growing up means you can handle your own situations all by yourself. I guess it is nicer this way. Back then the pressure to get together with a certain someone was so great because everybody will be watching your every whim and fancy with the prolonged chasing period. Maybe that's why people pair up quickly these days.

A very very good example would be a couple of my friends in form1. The ENTIRE form1 knew that the boy was 'madly in love' with the girl. One time when the teachers had an emergency meeting, it was inevitable for the classes to burst into chaos. The boy was from 1A and the girl was from my class. A lot of people gathered outside his class and were like standing around him. You could hear people shouting, "Go lah!! Go and talk to her!!" and the girl was just standing cooly at the balcony. Kepo people like me were running up and down the corridor wanting to know what's the latest this side and what's the latest that side.

The girl shyly said, "He wants to talk to me ar?"

And he said things like, "Damn, I want to ask her for couple.."

"YALAH!! YOU SHOULD LA!! GO MAN GO!!" came the high pitched chorus from pre-pubescent boys and girls alike.

"Eh...don't want lah. I shy," He potong steamed.

All the students from 1A right up till 1D were hurtling back and forth trying to pair the two up.

Then he said, "I think I'll ask her for couple in form4 lorh. Form1 only now. So young. Study first. Study first."

Hahahahha. See what I mean by pressure?

Do any of you remember this?

Two years back, I wrote on my blog that this college acquaintance of mine was working with me on a photoshoot for the A Levels classes. He turned around and accidentally jabbed his elbow and ter-compressed my boob. He turned around and asked me, "So how now?!" ... I started laughing immediately because I was expecting an apology and nothing so random. It soon became a catch phrase among my friends. Girls would step on boys or accidentally brush themselves against a guy and haughtily said, "So how now?!!" (think Jocelyn and Smalls. hahah). So of course lah, something so funny, i HAD to blog about it.

The next day he left a comment, "Remove that fairy tale about me or else I will initiate legal proceedings against you."

I was more surprised about his-cannot-take-jokes ability than about him finding my blog. So I was pissed lah. Besides, if anyone should sue, as I have said SO many times before, it was me. The one whose boob got compressed. He would then ignore me in college and of course I wasn't fazed by it because he was nobody to me. Once, being the bigger person, I even wrote him a long long email telling him that I'm sorry and that it was a joke. He never replied. Fine by me lorh, if you want to be childish go on and be a child.

But surprise surprise! I got NEW information about the whole incident. Apparently he told his classmates about it and they perceived me to be a big bad bitch but once they read what I wrote, they were like, "eh? what's the big deal?"

And oh. Get this. He said that I was jealous of him because he knew so many people. PLEASE LAAA.. all I did say was, "Wah! You know alot of people horh!" when he was waving left and right at friends of mine from high school during the photoshoot. I can't remember what he said, so I better not quote him, or else I kena sue. But it wasn't very nice.

HAIYOH Since when do I get jealous of people knowing many people? I have to SPRING CLEAN my handphone address book and MSN contact list in my free time lah. So free to fret about not having enough of acquaintances? *rolls eyes*

And even my step cousin(mind you, he did not provide me with the above information), once said that due to the incident, he thought that I was such a bitch before he really knew me.

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
