KL Stayover Day 2: My First Time Being Tipsy

Hsien was the first to go to bed at nearly 6am. Chien and I were waiting for our hairs to dry so we stayed up a little bit more chatting. The both of us crawled into bed at about 6.30am but somehow I couldn't sleep as I was distracted by the brightening sky. I've always wanted to witness a sunrise and with a view like this, how could I not snap a couple of pictures?

This is the first pic, taken at about 6.45am.

At about 7am. It turns out there the sun was being obscured by the clouds the entire day. Giving up, I crept back into bed.

Chien's Mum fetched Esther and Mel who were staying on Friday to join us in KL but upon arriving at the hotel, the three of us were still sleeping like pigs. Esther and Mel just sat there and commented about our sleeping positions and analyzing us in detail.

I have a feeling today will be a Bad Hair Day. :(

Since Chien had to settle some stuffs, the girls and I spent the early part of the afternoon being educated about the proper ways to wear a bra. Oprah Winfrey is capable of magic. We also learnt that I've been wearing chicken fillets to enhance my cleavage all these while.

Today we were due at Sungei Wang for a shopping trip, hardly any photos because I believe I've taken enough pictures of Sg. Wang.

While waiting for Chien to return, we did a bout of camwhoring with the lovely view. Hair's abit messy though.

l-r: Esther, Hsien and Mel.

Hsien and I.

This time around the shopping trip wasn't all that great but I did manage to get two tops and a nice slinky skirt. Love slinky skirts.

We lost Chien for the better half of the trip but found her again in time to hit the designer shops. We kept cracking lame jokes at the designer shops. We were screaming at each other not to touch the dresses because we believed they would crumble into a pile of ash at the touch of our filthy fingers. Heehee. But we were not loud enough for Chien to hear because then she wouldn't want us anywhere near her.

Once again, the drive back to the hotel was a horrendous KL type. I honestly don't know how people manage to face the traffic day in day out. I'd just die. It was still entertaining watching Chien getting all frustrated not knowing exactly where she's going. And we have Hsien who is known for her
anal ways when it comes to scary driving.

Chien and Hsien were squabbling all the way and Hsien getting huffy. Mel, Esther and I were laughing so hard but we were trying to lighten up the mood by stupidly singing nursery rhymes at the top of our voices. Hehe, I won't poke any more fun at Hsien's inane reactions towards scary driving because she gets sensitive about it. Bleh. I must teach this woman to laugh at herself from time to time. I love you, though. I love you Lim Su-Hsien. Me loves you. *blow, blow*. Don't burn yeah!

Went back to the hotel room to find another cute message from Chien's mum. Hee hee, so cute!! We forgot to boil water again, apparently. Chien said it's because she told her mum that I took a pic of the earlier one, her mum drew a bigger one this time to humour me.

We made reservations for The Ivy at Asia Heritage Row but I had to go for the Stila party before that. It is so damn convenient because the thing was held DIRECTLY opposite the hotel. What a wonderful coincidence. The event was held at Bliss The Lounge.

Chien kindly curled my hair for me.

Chien said I looked like a grandmother in this pic. :(

Hm, the top of my head is so flat, bleh. But thanks Chien!!

l-r: Fuzz, Leech, Mel and me.
Leech won the grand prize ok?? THE GRAND PRIZE. She's my senior from school and she's also an ardent contest participant. Sniff sniff, she gets the RM500 Stila cosmetics, RM500 Melinda Looi dress, date with the Midnight Bloom Gentleman AND the perfume!! And all I got was a crummy invite to the party.

We get free drinks! Some blue cocktail thingie with a lychee inside that Mel and I could not appreciate. Leech took the lychee/longan off me though!

The big hoo-hah. Nice though.

Mel and I doing what we do when we're bored.

There goes my lychee/longan. Ngaum!:D

A view of the bar.

Mel met her friend from uni, Claudia.

Some nice Stila box glowing thingie at the corner of the room.

We had to leave by 9.45 and according to Leech, the thing didn't even start until 10.30pm. It was supposed to end at 11pm. Malaysians.

A taxi stopped in the middle of the road during a red light and he beckoned us and offered us a ride to Asia Heritage Row for RM10. Mel and I ran helter skelter towards his taxi like mad women. I mean imagine two nicely dressed girls running and grabbing a taxi in the middle of a traffic jam. The mother fucker didn't even turn into the Asia Heritage Row. Sheesh.

Here's The Ivy, sorry for the crappy photo but I didn't want to use a flash.

Mel and Esther.

l-r: Hsien, Chien and Me.

Mel, me, and esther.

Hsien and Chien.

My cumberland fish pie. Which made me abit sick. It's not too bad, but you get jelak you know?

Esther looking pretty!

Hsien looks beautiful here! Chien looks cool. HAHAHA. ANd me, i just look spastic.

It took me a whole minute to figure out how the thing worked. Coooooooool...

After dinner we treated ourselves to some wine.

Learning, learning.

Before I knew it, I was at my 6th glass. According to them I had half the bottle. Somehow my glass just magically refilled by itself. I feel so bad. People, when I get my part time job, I'm treating you girls to wine. I'm not sure if I can say that I was officially smashed for the first time, but I did bump into a table and shocking the people at it and the girls held my hand as we walked to our car because I "kept tripping". Didn't lah, floor unstable! And I started crying while we were having an intimate conversation for no reason at all. Esther and I were saying the following day about how some people are damn talkative/damn quiet/damn angry/damn sleepy/start crying when they are drunk. Maybe I am the crying type!

Hsien and I.

Chun Guan, Ji Yang, Nigel and Kay Hong joined us at The Ivy for awhile before suggesting that we check out Bangsar. Chun Guan drove Chien's car and I was just crying in the back of the car the whole way through. It's just the tiny unhappiness of life that is so exaggerated with the help of a little alcohol, I suppose. I didn't think Chien, Chun Guan and Esther noticed but when I got out of the car, Chun Guan asked, "Are you ok ar, Jolene?"

We arrived at Bangsar at two and everywhere was closed. So like the bunch of idiots that we always were, we stood around not knowing what to do. Stupid Ji Yang challenged me to walk in a straight line and I tried walking in a straight line at a high speed and slipped on someone's vomit. UGHHHHH. Luckily I didn't fall onto the puddle of puke. *box Ji Yang*

Us dumb-dumbs.

Us dumb-dumbs are camwhores too.

I cannot be left out. See my puffy eyes? Silly Jo. *shakes head*

We went back to the hotel at about 3am and I was still in a bit of a funk. I leaned against the wall of the elevator and there was this gweilo who was controlling the buttons and when all of us got in, the overload alarm went off. I grumpily said, "See? I'm TOO fat." and then he actually replied and said, "Ah, no you're alright!" and then he said, "So where you girls from?" And I grumpily spat again, "Ma-lay-sia!" and he laughed and said, "Oh alright, me too." He had a nice deep voice though! He even said, "Goodnight ladies," when we got off.

Mel said that I was smashed so I said that. I mean I wouldn't have talked about how fat I was if there were other people in the lift. Don't like to state the obvious.

Went to bed at 5am after chit-chatting.

The following day we went to KLCC so that Chien can get her nice flats. The indecisive woman.

But she's happy, so we're happy.

Camwhoring all the way home. My camera was getting warm.

Su-Mae and me. Chien said that her sister was scared of me because I kept disturbing her. I like disturbing kids because they are adorable. Nice girl, this one. Just extremely shy. Come, Aunty Jolene show you the ropes.

And there you have it, my stayover in KL. It was great fun.

KL Stayover Day 1: The Clubbing Jakun

Sometimes, exploring a place closer to home can prove to be so much fun. Thanks to Chien and her free stays at the Shangri-la on Thursday till Saturday, I had just the chance to do so.

The drive down was entertaining because Chien was cursing at practically any car that was moving slower than her. She was screaming at the traffic, growling at the road signs, cursing her wrong turnings and basically letting out angry frustrated screams from Subang all the way to KL. I was sitting at the back with Hsien happily reading my Cecilia Ahern's Where Rainbows End. Chien's mum was in front trying to calm Chien down and giving witty remarks to every angry sound Chien made. If you need entertainment, just put Chien in a car in the middle of KL during rush hour.

I felt abit paiseh running around the hotel taking photos of the interior, so I didn't and stupidly forgot to do some exploring around the hotel.

This is the view from the 13th floor.

You can even see KLCC from here! Chien was saying that we could even paraglide from our room and actually reach KLCC. That would be nice.

Me and a scary moth.

We started with KLCC in the evening. It was great fun seeing Chien's hair slowly turning white as the purchases she made crept nearer and nearer to her budget's limit.(what limit?) Obviously, with my measely allowance, I cannot DO KLCC.

We ended the evening with a round of drinks at Gloria Jeans. I don't know if Chien will kill me for saying this but since it was our turn to treat Chien, she found us our seats and sat there alone, obliviously, while waiting for us. I turned around and saw that two old-looking men(Hsien said they're probably in their thirties but I think they're older) were photographing each other. Their table was directly in front of the one Chien chose.

Obviously it's quite weird for two grown men to snap pics of each other. Unless they are bloggers. But I doubt so because they kept turning around and checking the camera and giggling. They took more than 5 photos. I had an inkling they were using an old trick from the book. Pretending to pose for a photograph while secretly wanting to take a stranger's photo is SO passe. After putting down the drinks, I pretended to go back to the counter to get some straws and I managed to look at the dude's LCD screen. The focusing-box had Chien's head in it, and the other old men was like at the side of the screen. Sheesh.

I SHOULD have gone up to the two dity old men and say, "Eh? You know my friend one ar? Eh chien! This one your friend ar?"

But I DID go back to the table and said really loudly, "Eh CHIEN you're in the box you know!!" I don't know if I got the message acrossed. =

Hsien and I were laughing at the dirty old men and Chien was just cowering in embarassment. Heeehee.

l-r: Me, Hsien and Chien

Even though it has been nearly 10 years, I am still unable to refrain from gawking at the architecture.

We went back to the hotel at about 10pm to get ready for Zouk. Hehe, yes! My first time!!

Chien's mum cute message to us about how boiling water should be the first thing we did. I like that cute stick man picture, arms crossing and all! Hahaha.

I thought I was crazy by bringing a fraction of my accessories.

I suppose not, Chien was worse.

Getting ready for a night out.

Hsien and I camwhoring. Was on the phone with Amanda.

Still on the phone with Amanda.

Min Dee kindly came to pick us up from the hotel with her friend Amanda Hay. Nice chatty girl, that one. :) I never knew Zouk looked like it was made from a lump of clay. I've only seen pictures, but I thought they were just illustrations.

I'd take pictures of the outside of Zouk but I didn't want to appear more jakun then I already was. I wanted to pose outside Zouk with a cute peace sign like an enthusiastic tourist. The crowd looked abit too aggressive for me to attempt silly things like that, so, scratch that.

Since it was Ladies' Night, entrance was FOC and they didn't even check my ID! Ho ho ho. Um, maybe I should be sad about that. This is the first time I've used my "18 years and above" qualification properly save for the 18-sx and 18-sg movies in the cinema.

Yes, yes, it is sad that this is my first time at a proper club. They had a queue at the entrance just like they do on TV! I was blurly walking about and Min Dee had to say, "eh! Jolene come back! Don't go wrong way.." I took the wrong entrance into Zouk. -_-. Min Dee asked me, "Oh! Jolene, this is your first time here right? Wah...!"

I followed Amanda's advice and wore white. It was fun glowing under the uv light. Hehehe. Another jakun moment. It was damn packed and after awhile we lost each other. Hsien, Ji Yang and Kay Hong were with me and Kay Hong kept pulling me to the dance floor and I was still shy so I said, "Nononononononono..."

Me, the wallflower.

I thought the walls looked like boobs. Allow me to digress, but I hope the material they used to make the place is fire proof. What with all the cigarette butts being littered around.

A pic of the DJ area from the dance floor.

Camwhoring with Kay Hong.

Chien and Hamsap Kay Hong.

After awhile we loosen up and approached the dance floor. Albeit with a little caution at first and eventually we even joined Hsien's friend Li Suen and Alicia on the podium. Grooving, I was. I've done this abit once or twice in Bangsar but apparently, it's nothing. I'm not sure if it was me, but I saw this ang moh dude giving maybe me an appreciative look and smiling while I was up on the podium dancing. It went on for quite abit that I had to take a few more glances to confirm. Well, excuse me, I don't get this often so I suppose it was abit flattering while it lasted if it was really me. Haha. And after I was done, Min Dee came up to me again, "Wah! Podium ah! Wah!"..
Ok, I'm feeling more and more jakun-ish. I should really go out more often... but I think this trip is just a one-off. I'm not really into the scene. Which is why you'll be treated to a shit load of photos from here on.

A view of the crowd.

Kay Hong the Hamsap and Me.

Manda brought along some of my seniors from school.
l-r: Seng Keat, Allan, Manda and Me.

One for the camera!

Chien and Nicholas.

l-r: Me, Chien, Allan and Seng Keat.

Reapplying lip gloss in the ladies'!

l-r: Hsien, Chien, Ji Yang, Amanda and Chun Guan.

My camera was really sort after that night. It actually came to a point, where Kay Hong, Jin Yin, Chun Guan, Smalls, Slinky and Me were standing in a circle, each wanting to use the camera. It was quite weird having to wait for my OWN camera.

Jin Yin and Kay Hong went first.

Happy Chun Guan and Smalls.

Obviously I had to take a pic with Slinky  because really, how often do you meet a blogger friend?? We've been harassing each other's blogs for quite awhile and we only met for the first time on Thursday. I saw him sitting among my friends(yes, we have mutual friends. Everybody in Subang Jaya have mutual friends.) and I tapped him on the knee waiting for him to register who I am. Hahaha. Nice guy this Slinky. I thought he was short from his other photos. But ohmigod, now I know where the name Slinky came from. He's damn tall! Slinky, you're damn tall!! He won't tell me his real name, but I think I know what it is, but it's fun just calling him Slinky. He has taken to calling me Jolene, so, that's not fun.

Nope, I don't know these people. Perhaps by name. We didn't even get to say hello. It was my camera being passed around. Not sure how I feel about that. Anyway, if you recognise yourself, email me and I'll send you the other few hundred photos.

See how happy Chun Guan looks when he's having a picture with Smalls?

l-r: hahahaha E-guy, Manda and Me.

Me and Amanda Hay.

We actually stayed at Zouk until 3am and that's when we were ushered out of the club. The lights came on and the crowd filtered out. I witnessed a few typical afterhours scenes. There was a guy hollering in a ready-to-fight type of shout saying, "MICHELLE TOOK MY FUCKING PHONE!!" in the middle of the jumble of clubbers and modified cars. He looked quite pissed and agigated that I had to move aside, just in case a fight ensues. Never read papers ah, these days? Guns and all.. *shakes head*

Then I saw a girl so smashed that her guy friends were carrying her into a (modified)car. Her feet were like dragging on the floor. What a scene!

Such an eye opener for me.

We were still up for supper at Jalan Alor.

The infamous Jalan Alor chicken wings.

Lala, spicy. I didn't touch it. But it looked good.

Min Dee and Amanda Hay.

We went back to the hotel at about 5am. Strangely, we were not as tired as we should be.

Would have liked a photo of us up on the podium, but it would be embarassing to be trigger happy in the middle of the dance floor. So here's me, striking a pose to re-enact the scene. Albeit this is just as embarassing. And someone's going to kill me for this. I can hear her rumbling down my road in her Wira.

Next up, KL Stayover Day 2: My First Time Being Tipsy.

Kitty In The Ceiling

After my dissapointing trip to Taipan with the hopes of purchasing a silicon strapless and backless bra also known as FreeBra(since the adhesive on my old one is wearing out), I came home to find a tin cup that is similiar to those that mamak's use lying in my porch.

I kicked it abit and noticed that it was actually opened at both ends. I picked it up and realised it was actually a metal lamp holder of sorts.

I immediately thought of my downlights and looked up and SCREAMED BECAUSE OH MY FUCKING GOD THERE WAS HALF A KITTEN DANGLING FROM THE HOLE WHERE THE LAMP USED TO BE.

I threw the lamp holder onto the ground and screamed at my mother to get out of the car, "ARGHHH THERE'S A DEAD CAT HANGING FROM THE LAMP IT'S STUCK IN THE CEILING I THINK IT'S THE KITTEN WE HEARD MEWWING LAST WEEKEND, ARGHHH, I THINK I TOUCHED IT ARGHHHHHH MY HANDS MY HANDS ARGHHHHH!!!"

My mother confirmed that it was indeed a kitten hanging from my plaster ceiling and somehow managed to squeeze through. It didn't move so we assumed it was dead. My mother screamed when it moved. I plucked a stalk of leaves from the potted plant and tickled the cat's torso and it moved somemore! It's alive!!

We were too disgusted/scared to touch the kitten so we called for our neighbour's maid to the rescue. The kitten actually crawled back into the ceiling and was peering down at us with it's glittery eyes. Eventually my neighbour's maid managed to catch hold of the kitten's head and coaxed it to come out from the hole which was the lamp. Amazing kitten.

The kitten was white in colour and was about the size of my palm! So cute!!

Mum took some meat off the dinner table and put some water for the kitten but it wouldn't drink nor eat. I tried stuffing some down into it's mouth but the damn kitten bit me. Not cute anymore.

See? So action!

But look it's so small and soft when I carry it. Aww:)

This is the lamp hole which it crawled out of.

Angel wanted to be a kind soul and share her red squeaky ball with the poor unfortunate kitten. We always teach her that charity begins at home.

Mum and I decided to leave the kitten in our back lane with some food because at least there are other cats there which will keep it company and there won't be any passing cars which will flatten it, unlike infront of our house.

After a few minutes, we took a chair and peeked through our grill and saw this:

There was a black cat who came to ask him, "Where's your Mummy and daddy?"

But actually the black cat has ulterior motives, it wants to eat the poor kitten's food. Such a sad sight. Well at least the black cat will be there to keep the white kitten company.

Just when I thought I was going through some shitty days, see what arrived in my postbox?? And I thought I was facing a drought this year. Happy happy happy:)

The grand prize was actually a date with Jien. I had to send in a photo and say how my night with Jien will be. In the slogan I said, "I will tell him about the time I put on the tester lipstick in Watson and kissed his poster so that there will be a lip print there and suddenly the  both of us will become very silent and you, Cleo, will have to get your chaffeur to send me home." Oh, and I get to win a Midnight Bloom Eau De Toilette as well. But apparently I didn't win anything and I am VERY LUCKY according to the person who contacted me that I won invites to their Midnight Bloom launch party. Oh well. I probably didn't win the date because Jien must have been asked to choose the lucky lady and when he came across my photo he must have been like, "Ewww.. bleh bleh.. next!" Hehe, modesty.

Ah... and hair products!!! I love hair products that I cannot afford!

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.
