Strawberry Scented Nail File

I know it's 12am and my eyes are half closed.

Received our new timetables yesterday much to our dismay.. now we actually have COMPULSORY classes(LAN is not compulsory for me. hee) till 4. chem lab... oh god. I don't know if it's fortunate or not, but it's only on wednesdays. But wednesdays are okay, it's meant to be sucky. It's in the middle of the week. And now we have to shift class like everyday, every period. Oh, god.

Went to pyramid with Liss and barry to get ABBY'S PRESENT(abby, read).. and Liss bought a nice green mini skirt from MNG(sale) for Rm20. I love mini skirts.. i really do. Something happened when I went there..but I'll tell you if you ask me about it. Unsafe to talk about it here.

Amanda left for UK! Just for a month. But there is someone who makes it sound like Amanda's leaving for good... lol..shh:D But yeah, manda, will miss you loads!!.. Set up  a photojournal while you're there lar. Love to see beautiful photos.

Was happy to have most of the gang down for lunch today.. even MUNTENG joined us for lunch!! Bugged Chun Meng about what he's getting for Abby for her birthday...:D haha, Bby, I won't tell you here. HmPh.

At Success today, Abby was eating guava and I wanted to free load.. so I did the Puss In Boots' Eyes for her (O_O)....ahhaha.. it's our favourite part of the Shrek 2 movie!! lol..damn cute lar. But she said, I looked scary. So I stuck to looking at her packet of guava longingly sans big charcoal black unblinking eyes.

It was really nice of Kay Hong to remember that he still owes me RM10.  Ho Ho hO.

Today after college I didn't follow Barry(he finally bought a lock for the locker. No need to worry about the labcoats anymore.) back like I usually do because I had a dental appointment at 2.30.. I went to the shops for awhile .. I went to Kiosk to see if the promotions on Archie comics(Rm7+ for Double Digests) were still on.. but they were not. Then as I walked out of the door, my bag banged into this guy's bag.. But i didn't see his face. And it was not a big deal.. nothing happened, nothing fell out. I continued walking and started to think, "Hmm, that would be an interesting story.." ..lol..I actually got SO inspired to start to write a story on how these two people switches handphones when their bags "collide".. and how it messes up their lives(ie. boyfriends, girlfriends, commitments etc)..bla bla bla.. was thinking how the story would go from there. Then proceeded to think of camera angles for the movie. LOL. And who would I sell it to? Our local production house, Double Vision, of course. (produced Homecoming, Kopitiam/Pillow talk..etc).. lol.. nah, just a thought. A likely story. Would love to write girly fiction ala Sophie Kinsella and Marian Keyes in the future.

Oh, for SoMeonE's information, just now, SomEonEelSe callEd me anD askeD ME To remOVe SoME StuFf abouT reGarDinG SomEonEeLsE oWnSelF Of FrOm My BloG. ThiS SoMEoNEeLse doEsn't uSuaLLy visit my BloG, So How WoulD SomEonEelSE hAvE knoWn aboUt WhaT I WrOte? Well, SomEoNE, havE AnY IdeA whYy?.. HmM? eh, SomEoNE? Hmm Hmmmmm?!

Now I'll have to retrace and delete the stupid part. can't people take a joke these days??

OoOh! Today Hsin, Audrey, Jia Min and their friend Ruth came back to taylors for old time's sake and I finally met Ruth!! I first saw her upstairs waving down at us.. and barry, also his first meeting with her, said, "Can see your panties la!"*don't worry, Ruth, cannot see, he's just crapping*... and she immediately gave him the finger. LOL. I mean wow, I was taken aback, I mean i know I do that, but through her blog I've always pictured her as this innocent little girl(though she's two years older than me.. hardly little) who likes candies and shops alot... hahaha.. never judge a person by her blog. But not bad, not bad. Nice person. All of them were very friendly actually! Nice to see the seniors after such a long time.:)

Spent the rest of the afternoon watching Friends Episode 16(esther and su-hsien, you'll love it) with my brother whilst finishing an entire box of mini cadbury milk chocolates..mm mm.. then went downstairs to fold the clothes(Mel, don't make noise) and finished the second half of the Shrek cd(thanks Li Peng!) and then Simpsons was on, so watched that too..(not a really good episode today)..and retired on the couch till 8 pm and went to Aunty's for dinner.:D

Hahaha, yesterday Chien told me that Ji Yang said that he thought he saw Edison Chen in Zouk, Singapore. Then Su-Hsien said, "oh! Why wasn't Li Peng with him??" .. hahahahha..................sorry, inside joke for SMKSU students only. An EDISON SO is Li Peng's boyfriend, for those who do not know.

Important note for all: better read my blog as frequently as possible. Sometimes the juiciest(i know there ain't many in recent times, but I promise you some, sometime soon) news will be requested to be removed within hours/days.. Grr. But I am me, can't stand people holding a grudge against me. So I delete them anyway.

Here's a question for all of you:
Is it nicer to drink cold water from the bottle or from a cup?

In The Mood

I just won a free trip to a L'oreal Flagship salon or something from CLEO!! Wooo! My first win from a big girly mag like CLEO!! Wooo!!

This month's issue is so inspiring... I'm so gonna buy some falsh eyelashes(ala Amanda) and some good mascara(Lash Discovery, Maybelline!) and create some lashes! Oh yes!!

Then SUDDENLY, I'm in the mood for swimming, but unfortunately "aunty has arrived".... well, since I'm so in the mood and don't want to dampen it, I'll just apply some sunblock lotion and stay in my room and blog today:) Works well enough!

Also, I've FINALLY decided to clean up my ENTIRE room, arrange for a special place for my shoes to stay in..!

Anyway, yesterday Amanda, Me, Su-Hsien, Abby and I went to Pyramid. We met Su-Chien, Jiyang, Chin Ju and Ji Yang's friend, Ranjeev there! ...First I went to pick Abby from Coffee Cabana and Melissa came into my car and she was like, "WOW TAKE ME FOR A RIDE!!" haha.. but no, the traffic jam was horrendous. Felt grateful for my (officially recorded)13 years of Subang Jaya resident status..managed to dodge the traffics..well enough! Right, Abby? Then went off to pick Su-Hsien off who was horrified that I was driving on the right side of a twoway road. Well, I'm sure alot of you would be proud to know I can now say, "AiyAh DOn'T woRRy LAAa..No Car AlSo!" :D Now the "Drama Driver"(D.D.) title is passed on to our Ms. Song! (D.D. Melody Song). After that we proceeded to pick Mel and Amanda from mel's place.

When we saw Amanda, we were like, "wow! she lost so much of weight!" but she said it must've been the clothes she was wearing. The lucky woman is going to spend a month in England with her family members there..lucky her!!!! .. But it's in the summer... yeah, But as a Malaysian, I would prefer to go there, say, in the Autumn/Spring? Not winter, but it'd be nice, but no..coz like mel once told me, apparently in the winter, the refridgerator can act as a heater. (Her dad used to open the fridge and said, "Ahh, warm air.")

Then off we went to Pyramid. MNG's on sale!!!!.. Bloody hell, there were mini skirts(i like miniskirts) for RM20!! RM20!! and so happen it was one of the skirts Su-Chien bought..(hohoho) and she was sooooo distraughted over the whole thing... a pouch she once bought for RM20, is now RM9.. and a pencil box I once bought was Rm39.. and now it's RM10 less! mel bought a nice purple mini skirt..! I was tempted to get a few...but the long line turned me off.

After a while, we split up because each of us was taking quite a while.. we all regrouped again at Arrios ...where Melody and Ji Yang lashed out at each other (oh, it's normal. but all in jest.=])... And Mel finally shut Ji Yang up by her usual tactic, "Oh Ji yang, I see that you've been working out.. ... Mmm!" ... hahaha.. and it WORKED!!..

LoL, Psst.. didn't know that Ji Yang straightens his fringe? everymorning!! tee hee hee!

Then we proceeded for some serious shoe shopping at Nose..(Vincci is currently quite sucky)..WoOOhOoo.. Beeee-au-tiful shoes.

lovelovelovelovelovelovelovelovelovelove!!!
I bought TWO pairs of flats.. and nothing else, except maybe a Feminine Hygiene Wash! *it's currently on the basin, hopefully my brother won't grab it and use it as facial cleanser or something*. ... Well, the first pair is reallllllllly nice.. it cost me RM50.. but it's worth it. White cloggy-type with transparent straps..and a DAMN KAU GLITTERY BLUE FLOWER IN THE MIDDLE WITH A DIAMANTE CENTRE!!! OOOOOo..!! The other pair is more of a convenience pair of flats.. it's just a black thongs with white straps and a small diamante in the middle!!

After that we had to go back already as I had to be back by 6.. (but then i reached home at 7).

At night, after dinner, we went over to Aunty Susie's place for some drinks and some .. dancing! We always do it when my Aunt Judy and Uncle Terry come back from UK. Out came the wine and the Aunts thought us line dancing and cha cha and Jive and Salsa.. SUCH FUN!!!.. then my Uncle Terry asked me to teach him all the latest moves in the clubs these days.. I racked my head to recall some, But all I could remember was Ji Yang's moves...(hands pointing out from chest and body dipping from side to side)..lol! and then I said, that when boys aren't that used to dancing, they tend to suck in their lips and press them together and try to gyrate to the music..ooh la la!

LoL.. then we had on some 'disco' music.. (Lemon Tree REMiX)..lol.. free style!!!.. then Uncle Terry took out the camcorder..and we all lined up in a line and did the Hindhu God type of moves...(the one with alot of hands?).. and then my brother and I created this "modern dance" moves.. very kaku one, but involved a lot of unneccesary shaking and loads of laughing and everyone joined in and formed a half circle and did our dance for the camera... and then we all took turns to shake our bums at the camera .. and then our chest..(you know, the Lai family.. ahem..*jiggle,jiggle*).. It was great fun especially when we viewed it on TV.. hahahaha.. and my dad would pretend to be a passing cloud whilst doing an egyptian dance across the screen(with us dancing behind)..haha. After a few glasses of wine, it's fun.:) We went back at 2.30am.

In A Nutshell

Grandparents' 50th Wedding Anniversary Dinner

As I've told most of you, my grandparents celebrated their golden anniversary at Armada Hotel last Saturday! It resembles a wedding...firstly because there is sharksfin soup.. and there's the chinese dinner thing, the "main table", guest book, bla bla...

The day started of with all the women in the Lai family, doing their hair at Urbane, a salon in SS14 for the bignight as early as 10am in the morning. (the dinner doesn't start till 7.30..but 6.30 was the cocktail already). First to get her hairdone was my Godma/Aunty Susie .. she had it done up in a bun with the sticky outy bits and sprayed with half a bottle of glitter, lovely. Second was my cousin Shevie who ended up looking abit like those young taiwanese pop stars...(picture long bits of fringe, hair plaited really tightly on the top).. and she looked really pretty without her glasses on! I did her makeup! Her mum(aunt susie) was sooo happy with the outcome! *swells with pride*

Next was my grandmother who had her hair blown to puff up ..and you know what the hairdresser did? She sprayed a STAR design on to the side of my grandmother's head! My grandmother has red hair.. and the hairdresser said, "oh! it's a golden star..suits your anniversary wat!" ... she too had her fairshare of glitter..all of us had. Then my other Aunt, Aunt Judy/Aunty from UK had hers done up, but since she has curly short hair, there's not much that can be done, except give it a trim and then spray some glitter. The lady put some gel/hair glue on bits of her fringe, and you know what she used?? Stationary silver glitter to create wavy shiny bits on her fringe.

My mother was going to do a chinese opera with her sister that night and she needed to wear the head gear for it..so she didn't do much with her hair except plait abit on the side and blow dry... after that she too did not escape from the strange hair dresser, the hair dresser spray painted a harry potter lighting bolt just above my mum's ears, a combination of white, red, and orange. (?).. Then my mum left me there while she went to buy lunch.

I myself had something similiar to my cousin sisters. But she used SO much of that stationary glitter on my hair. I don't know whether to be angry or not that they were using stationary glitter. And the amount of pins on my hair? Too many.

It was so sad when my mum came back from the shops, her hair was all messed up and drenched, because it started to pour.. my poor mother had to go home and comb it out and blow it dry herself..:(

Anyway, this time I used eyeliner and mascara(still cannot.. must buy false eyelashes already)

By 4pm, the "bride" was already waiting in the hotelroom for us to bring her clothes and my aunty Susie and me to do her make up. Downstairs my dad and the rest were rehearsing the performances. Soon after, Shevie and I proceeded downstairs to join the rehearsal. Our performance was the indication of the presence of the bride and bride groom. We were to stand by the doors and sing "ave maria" as they walk in. It was a great feeling, holding wireless mics and all! My Aunty Judy and Uncle Terry pretended to be the couple so we could practice better. Uncle Terry kept pretending to walk at 90 degrees, imitating my grandfather who has got a backproblem(hunched), and we kept laughing our heads off!

By 6.30pm, guests were filling in, as it was the cocktail session, and when some of the older aunties saw me, they were like, "aik, ee kor sam po ngo mei kin kor geh?"(aiks, this daughter in law i've not met).. .. to feel happy or to feel sad? It could mean i look nice and sophisticated , or just plain ol-middle age. then it was, "HAH...? Arthur ge lui ar??!!!" (What?! Arthur's daughter?) ... same ol' same ol'. I was put at the registration table for awhile to collect angpows and get the guests to sign the guestbook!

The dinner then started when my brother and Aunty Adelein(dad's cousin in law) who went up to get the 'anniversary couple' down and Shevie and I started to sing Ave Maria as mervyn and my cousin Derek opened the doors. Dad was playing the guitar, Uncle Alex(Shev's dad) was playing the other guitar..mum was at the piano, Aunty Susie and Aunty Judy were the backup singers..:D Uncle Terry, camera man!

The sound system was great, all thanks to Dad's friend, Uncle Caleb who used to work with my dad when my dad ran Biovision(an ad company and event managing company that have customers that seldom pay on time-which is why my dad left).

Joy!! I had two bowls of Sharksfin soup.. absolutely absolutely ... MAGNIFICOOOZ!!

Dad was the emcee for the whole event.. occasionally throwing in a trademark naughty joke!

There was karaoke and all, mostly dedicated to the 'anniversary couple':)

My Aunties, Cheryl and Coreen.. well, their actually 18 and 21 respectively... yes, and their my aunty, they've got a younger sister, aged 8.. ALSO my Aunty. Obviously. Well they sang "My Heart Will Go On" on the karaoke system..honestly! Not bad! Very power!

My mum performed the chinese opera with my Aunty from malacca(her sister)..and everyone kept saying, "Wah! Yan(mum's name), lei ge seng hou Kiu ar!" (wah! Yan! Your voice is very ..i don't know what's the word in english... but something like ..OH yea. MANJA.) Aahahaha.

After that my Aunty Judy (oldest in the family) gave a speech about how the whole family came about... it's very nice, she made it into a story. When it came to me, she said, "..and Jolene, the first one to go to University, and our first Doctor!".. and EVERYONE after that kept asking me which University am I in, how many more years do I have till I become a doctor... ARGH. It's so embarassing as I haven't even made up my mind yet!! And then she talked about how our grandparents raised them up... about how at the age of 40 or so, my granddad was stricken with TB and a part of his spinal cord started to rot(which is why he has a hunchedback, those of you who have seen him but has been too polite to ask), and he lost his ability to hold a proper job..and the breadwinner role went onto my grandmother... how he lost his self esteem.. but how he still stayed at home and cared for the family(heck, he cooks dinner for us almost every week, and spend hours in his garden, still drives us to tuitions, and can still complain about the Malaysian Government)... and then my Aunty went on about how grateful was she for her upbringing and all.

Apparently MY grandfather was dabbing at his eyes.. and there were quite a bit of wet eyes around the room.. But none of us on stage(the entire family) was quite sad coz we've heard this speech countless of times and were too busy worrying about my mother who was still up in the hotel room, pooping/removing her costume/peeing/make-uping, when she was supposed to be with us on stage .. and play the clavinova. Then after the speech, dad played the intro of "You raise me up" on the guitar and the whole family sang "You Raise Me Up" .. the men, they never bothered to practice constantly, ..lol..so they just went along humming.

Right after the last course, it was time for dancing!! Woohoo! Was dragged out by Cousin Derek at first..ahaha.. and then he proceeded to go dancing with younger blood, my other cousin Shevie..(Derek's a mum's side cousin, Shevie's a dad's side cousin.. so.. Hehehe.. we've(Mervyn and I) been meaning for them to meet up for YEARS(like since they were born?)!! Aunty judy and I danced the cha cha.. it was so much fun.. as I've taken classes earlier this year..:)

My grandmother called everyone the following day to thanked them all..and she reported back to us that 9 out of 10 people said it was very well organized, that they've never been to such a party before... and that it was very nice how the kids celebrated their parents anniversary for them. But the bloody 1 person out of the 10 said, "it's o-k la.. but NOT very well organized.." oh he can just go to hell. He wasn't doing all the work. SO SORRY We cannot have it at YOUR usual hunt, J Fucking W Marriot.

Anyway, will blog about Redang trip, later in the day. Now waiting for Amanda to come to my house.. going to Pyramid to get a few stuff.

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
