A Lifetime Of Camwhoring

Since I'm more than a little bored, I decided to dig out all the old photographs and put it up on my blog. Here's to a life time of camwhoring! Cheers!

The first day: O years old.

Taken after I was born at Assunta hospital. Wait, obviously it was taken AFTER I was born right? *smacks head*

Yeah, just before full moon!

Hehehe..woopsie! Oei Audrey, I got into porn very early too.

At age 1, 1988:

Poo poo time!

Paternal grand dad and I trying to bond.

Age 2, 1989:

At that camera hating stage. I KNOW. You'd think I've always been the camwhore.

In cameron highland, I remember that jumper made noises at the chest when you pressed on it.

At age 3, 1990:

When Mervyn came along. Dancing to Dad's guitar.

I loved my toys:D

Maternal grand dad and I sharing a tender moment.

Lady boss

hehehe.. my Aunty Ping made loads and loads of costumes.. here's me in one of them.

Cousin Hong Weng being the perfect gentleman. Remember, this is the cousin who posed with me with our deceased granddad in the recent cheng beng photoblog?

At age 4, 1991:

I think this was in Penang...

HAHAHA.. I love this picture. We swapped bikes.

Cousin Shevie and I in Cameron Highlands. Isn't she cute?! She was about 1+ years old. Now she's... 14. yeah.

At grand dad's place in Section 18 PJ.

At age 5, 1992:

First day of kindergarten!

My dad took a picture of the seniors... I was still in Intermediate then.

GASP!! It's BARRY!!

My class did ballroom dancing for our performance. Since we were lacking of guys, I was asked to be a guy since I was one of the tallest girls in class. It sucked because I really wanted to wear the pretty yellow dress. ;'(

At Dad's company's Family Day. I'm the one in green.. the girl. The girl in white with the bob is Goh Yen Yen. Some of you A-levels folks may remember her. She passed away last year due to a sudden high fever. She was only 18. :( She was my dad's boss's daughter.

At age 6, 1993:

Oh no!!!! The hao por in me has surfaced!

At age 7, 1994:

Shevie and me during Christmas.

At age 8, 1995:

Getting nerdy. I hate my hair. hate.hate.hate.

At age 9, 1996:

Cousin Jacqueline and I

My second dog, Cuddles! She was quite the cocker spaniel. Pretty thing. She ran away a year later. ;(

l-r: Cousin Hong Fei, Mervyn, Myself, Cousin Hong Weng. In Cameron Highland's farm.

At age 10, 1997:

Full blown nerd. At bird park, KL.

At age 11, 1998:

The Hao Por is still there!! Somewhere on a cruise.

Any of you SMDU or SMDJ folks remember these boys? Christopher(1986) and Jason(1987) Woon? Well, they are my cousins' cousins. They've gone to New Zealand though.
l-r: Jason, Cousin Derek, Christopher, and my brother Mervyn. Taken in Tasik Dayang Bunting, Langkawi, 1998.

At age 12, 1999:

yucky hair. What was I thinking? Taken in Australia.

At age 13, 2000:

l-r: Me, mum and bro. In Port Dickson.

My brother insists that I show you all a *VERY* recent photo of him. He wants you to know he is not fat anymore.

At age 14, 2001:

At an uncle's wedding in Singapore!

Again, he insists.

This is a classic!! Cousin Derek and Mervyn asleep while the tea ceremony for one of the Singapore weddings was going on. My Uncle Pun took this one. Nice shot!

He still insists. *sigh*

At the end of 2001, I had this crazy idea to dye my hair blue and purple. Here're some cringe-inducing photos of my hair.

....

At age 15, 2002:

At another Singapore wedding. Can see I'm starting to get fat here. ;\

Oh well..:D Wonder how many of you actually scrolled to the very end of this entry. Won't put up any of my 16, 17 or 18 year old photos because I started this blog when I was 16. So yeah.. I'm sure you've had enough.

The Underrated Sg. Wang Trip

Even though we were ffk-ed by Esther, Amanda and Li Peng, with very legitimate reasons I'm sure, the four of us were still up for the proposed Sg.Wang shopping trip.

Darling Chien drove all of us down with her kai-tou sense of direction. *applause*

We arrived at Sg. Wang at about 12pm and stayed until 8pm. Oh my god. Can you believe the amount of walking we did?? The balls of your feet will feel permanently damaged and your bum feels like it's being dragged all over the floor and your arms are scarred by the heavy weight of shopping bags. All in all it was a good day. During the first half of the shopping trip, we were pretty demotivated save for Chien, the rest of us could not really feel satisfied because we have not bought anything yet!! We were musing about the last trip where we had Abby and Liss with us and how fun and productive it was. We half heartedly scoured a few more floors before we finally ended up on the waste-money-and-time-floor(the floor with Famous Amos on it).. We ended up buying more things than we did last year!!! Our willpower was nonexistent.

It was great fun because the satisfaction from purchasing new possessions is always good! I spent about RM150.. that's like three weeks worth of allowance. But exams are coming up again, so I won't be spending during that period which basically balances out my financial stance. Won't dwell into how much Chien and Mel spent; they are still trying to come to terms with it. Hsien was the one who spent the least. Good on you, girl!

Now for some A-list celebs moments:

Melmel Song and Jojo Lai at the back of the Limo.

We are crazee celebs! Gah!

Chien didn't want Mel to be left out and forced a pair of sunnies onto Mel's face. Just a few days ago, the other three of us bought sunnies from a stall in Midvalley! Such a good price; Buy 2 free one!

For those of you have absolutely no interest in what Sg. Wang is currently putting up on their racks, you can skip the rest of this entry!

A sun dress that the girls decided was just too granny-ish.

This piece is one of the most unbelievable items I've ever come across in my entire shopping career. This is one of those things that you'll muse about when you're old, "Remember that long black dress which costs less than a plate of spaggheti in TGIF?" This long black formal dress is.............only. RM. 20. I know. Mel bought it, I didn't. I know. I know. Go get it yourself. Don't scold me. I KNOW!!

The beautiful tweed shoes that everybody wants from Nose!! I first saw it on Jia Lin and I really really really wanted it...:) It proved to be a little too high for me, but variety is good right?

Going at Rm60, I felt it was just abit steep. I planned to buy it if I did not buy anything from this trip. But we know that it is not possible, so poor pink tweed pumps will have to wait until Nose goes on sale. *crosses fingers*

Aren't they just too cute!?! It's glitter all over with a black ribbon across the front section. So cute!! Tad flimsy though, I mean, all this cheapies.. But Rm50 is not really cheap. Oh well. Nearly bought them.

A beautiful skirt, but I am very sure that I can not fit into it. Ugly belt.

This skirt is just too adorable! Mel's gonna go back and ask her grandma if she knows how to make one. It's just strips of cloths sewn together.

Hsien's been on the lookout for a bohemian(boho) skirt from the beginning of the trip. So many boho skirts!!

Mel looking cute in one!

Chien wants a boho skirt too but was hoping to lower the price by pointing out stains to the owner.

A savvy consumer. *applause*

See the guilt on their faces? We've been spending a tad too much.

It's in all these quaint little boutiques where you can find the perfect piece that suits you. Even though it just screams Lala at a glance, you'll have to sieve through slowly and patiently. Works like a charm, that attitude.

Hsien looking sweet in a dress. She didn't want to get it because the material was too thin. Oh well.

Yeah! I bought this top!! RM33.. Not too bad. Since it's a cleavage-
y top. Am into cleavage-y tops now.

Cute PVC bowling bags going at only RM25! I know I know, but I've already spent RM150. Cannot, I still owe a few people birthday presents. Must refrain.

I saw a bigger version somewhere up on the shelves. I had to take a picture to remind myself how pretty it was. I simply could not fork out another RM30.

Nice ensemble?

Abby, I think you'd look great in this top! The cutting is just so you!

Behind the mirror is Chien changing into an uber funky top at RedRumMurder. Sorry, no pics. Chien doesn't like me taking pics of her in these situations.

You'll only get a picture of Chien's rebonded hair.

Mel's acknowledging the fact that she's gone too far this time. I'm not helping right?

By 7pm, we needed to look for a place to eat. Couldn't really find a place that suited.

A nice view of the back alley.

KL tower in the distance. Yes, me jakun. But I like this picture!

A dinky little shop selling items I can only term, "Khazanah"(It's a malay term for treasures). Hsien bought her "got feel" Boho skirt from this place.

See, we girls live by this theory: We can only really really get it if we have "the feel". We cannot make a purchase half heartedly.

Part of KL by night.

Arghhh.... the backseat was packed with all our paperbags. No more shopping in a long long while. NoOoo.

Here are my other purchases:

This is actually a halter, but the straps are clip-ons, which are actually quite ugly. I prefer it as a tube. Oh.. by the way this is my wardrobe mirror. I stick all the little notes I've gotten from my friends throughout secondary school from my textbook, Valentine's Day, Friendship Days etc.

RM28 for a tube dress!! Nice right?? It's quite comfortable too. I'm quite surprised myself. It's not often I find nice pieces that I can feel truly comfortable in.

YES!! At long last, I've found a nice pair of feather earrings. I've always wanted a pair since the last trip. But oh well!

For RM15 I get a Mickey t-shirt. I didn't try it on at the shop; a bit too tight. ;\

RM15 too! Can you read? I got lei'd on paradise isle! Ooh-er!:D Just as long as it brings the message across! :D

Cheaper Alternative

So we really ended up in Swensens at Subang Parade last night.

Subang is getting too small these days! Or is it because I've lived in Subang for far too long? We met Krystle and Peini and then Kathleen, Arvind and their church mates and not forgetting Terence(Toh) and his friends. Or perhaps it was Earthquake night. It was great seeing familiar faces all around. :)

What's left of the gang minus a few more gathered for some long awaited ice cream yesterday. As Kay Hong said, "Swensens ice cream not that nice la." I still prefer Baskin Robbins or Haagen Daaz! Those of us who went were Hsien, Chien, Myself, Mun Teng, Amanda, Li Peng,Edison Kwo Kuang, Kay Hong, Nigel, and Barry.

Among the eight of us, we had two giant Earthquakes and the bill only came up to only RM52! How wonderful; RM5 per person:).

Half way through gobbling ice cream, Kay Hong looked up and said, "Jolene you damn suei la,". Guilt immediately washed over me, "Why?!" "You la, go and put up those cemetery pictures in your blog. Damn scary lar!! It's very very bad you know. I immediately closed the browser.".
I thought he was going to blame me about other things...but for the record, there are no other things.

I reasoned, "But it's photography wor...". Chills were running up and down my legs. I know it should be my spine, but I felt it in my legs.
"They say ar..... there are three things that people do which will result in bad karma. Number one is taking photographs of cemeteries. Number two, its belanja-ing people to go find prostitute..."(I forgot number three..). He then continued, "You never know what kind of spirit you disturb leh... 15 year old boy die of cancer, young little girl die..and all that... haiyer...jolene..you know ar, when I saw those photos, I wanted to take out my prayer book and read already you know!!"

It's strange that he is in the same religion as me, Japanese Buddhist(Soka Gakkai), yet he is very superstitious. We were brought up to believe that when people die, their energy merely converts to another form of energy.

Still, I was really freaked out. I mean I don't want to be disturbed by spirits!! Mun Teng was trying to console me, "I'm sure the spirits will be happy that you are using them as a form of art,". But Kay Hong was going on about how I have no respect for the dead. He said he was sure that my own grandfather wouldn't mind taking photos with me, but he said he wasn't quite sure about the others.

He then entertained me with this tip on how to get 4D number. Something like dunking your head in a body of water at the cemetery and then going there with a bag of salt. You'll have to stay there at 12am to 6am and for every extended rotten hand that comes your way, you have to give it the amount of salt it wants. Bargaining over the amount of salt to be given out should not take place. I don't know how it works, but the thought of it is seriously freaky.

It's quite unusual for me to be so scared over things like these, because horror movies have absolutely ZERO effect on me. But suddenly, I'm like a child all over again. Not being able to sleep at night, petrified. KAY HONG IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT..... :( :( :( I honestly never really knew much about taking photos at cemeteries and such. Still, like they all say, better to believe than to not believe. YARGHHHhhhhh!!

On to happier thoughts:

Earthquake with eight flavours. I think the hardest part was choosing the flavours. I ordered yam. Nobody dared to touch my yam. Why does everyone hate my yam?

Kay Hong starting out with the cherry.

Mmmmmmmm...

See my yam? Poor thing all mushed up.

Chien and Hsien

l-r: Kay Hong, Mun Teng, Edison, Li Peng, Myself.

The other half of the table.

And Barry thought we over-ordered.

Thanks, Kwo Kuang.

Nice shot.:)

l-r: Me, Manda, Nigel and Kwo Kuang.

Awww.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LI PENG!! She turned 19 yesterday. Edison, you still owe her a present. *tut, tut*

Bum fluff.

Kay Hong's bum fluff.

Li Peng and Me.

A nicer one.

Wahhahaha..damn gay lar, Kay Hong. By the way, Barry didn't want to give me a nice pose at any point. Ass. :(

Camwhoring with Mun Teng! It's essential to camwhore when we get together. Yes, I know I have a pimple.

l-r: Amanda, Me, Terence, Mun Teng

After many years of absence in our lives, we finally found him having ice cream with his kawans. Thought we'd show Terence's pet sis, Esther, what kind of a man he's grown into. No more spiky hair!! If you can see, though I doubt it, just below Terence's left ear, in the background, is a guy called Allen Wong. He was a nice Interact senior who made conversation with me when I was in form2 at the Interact Conference when the other seniors were too busy entertaining themselves. We chatted alot online back then and I, hehe, developed a tiny crush on the fella. Yesterday night, he came over to say hello too. Was surprised he could still remember my name. Glad to see all these old acquaintances all grown up after many many years of not seeing each other.

I'm telling you, it's the Earthquake Night. That's why.

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
