Day In Day Out

*entry updated two hours later. scroll down.

I have given myself the liberty to get some blogging done because for once in nearly two weeks, I've finished my homework.

...

Shitfuck. ;\. Just remembered I have a chemistry lab report to finish. Damn damn damn. Just when I thought I was going to get happy.

I've just realised that I am stuck in a rut. Everything's the same.
I wake up in the morning in the same bed -wait, if I don't wake up in the same bed, it would be something bad, wouldn't it?-, am always on the verge of being late to class.
I will then step into the car with my mum and drive over to pick Barry up and if I am unlucky he will be having his morning shit and we will be further delayed.

Then I walk along that same slightly uphill road that leads to my college either chatting animatedly with Barry or not chatting to him at all(one of those let's-just-shut-the-fuck-up-coz-it's-too-damn early mornings). Then it's that crazy climb up those damn stairs whilst trying to protect my dignity if it's a mini-skirt day.

After that it'd be the long count-downs to the 60th minute of the hour until the class lets out. Then there'll be lunch. We only ever eat in a grand total of 5 places. It's either Mee Yoke, Success, Asia Cafe, McDonalds or Burger King. I can recite the menu in my sleep. Then it's another few count-downs until another day is over.

I then go home with the promise of completing some work or getting some studying done. I come home to turn the computer on only to be entertained by the same websites. I then lie on my back FOR AWHILE. By the time I awaken from my coma, I am usually 2-3 hours behind schedule. Before you know it, it's time for the most exciting part of my day. I turn on my Astro to be entertained by Hongkee actors despicting lives with so many dilemmas I am grateful for not having. I then turn the tv off and will look at the clock and think, "I have procrastination time.".

After telling myself, "in a while, in a while, in a while I'll hit the books," the clock will inevitably strike midnight. Whoopeedoo. *swirls index finger in small circles* I will only manage to complete half of my work(if I'm lucky) before telling myself it's just too late to get anything done and treat myself to the latest downloaded episode of SATC/Desperate Housewives/Joey.

I AM SO SICK OF IT.

Why won't the damn exams hurry up and end? My life is so repetitious I could scream! There's really nothing to look forward to but the end of this misery we call A-levels.

I suspect I'll get an awful hearing from a few of you (especially adults) for not enjoying my youth. How working life will be the pits. How I will hate my 9-5 job. Yeah, so I'll blog about how depressing it is when I work 9-5. As of now, let me blog about how depressing it all is when I'm a (always on the verge of being)penniless student cramming for her big major exam.

Everyday I see the same people. Same faces. We talk about the same things. I look in the mirror, I see the same face, the same hair. I feel like screaming. I look around my room I see the same mess. I move around my small sub-urb and see the same traffic situations. My stupid Windows Media Player plays the same songs over and over again. I read the same websites over and over again. The crick in my back hurts everyday, at the same spot. I eat the same food. I see the same shows.  I do the same things. Is this all there is to it?

I wonder how my mum finds excitement in housework day in,day out. How my maths teacher can bring herself to class everyday to teach us the same equations she thought for the past 9 years. Oh my god. Maybe she has that something called moolah as a motivation. Hm. Yes. I don't. It's just given to me as allowance. There's no excitement in it because I didn't work for it.

No motivation = Boredom = Rut

Bring on graduation! Bring on the first salary! Bring on adulthood! Bring on the live in boyfriend! Bring on The First Time! Bring on marriage! Bring on the grandchildren!

There comes a point in everyone's life where nothing really seems interesting. This is my definition of a rut. *groan*

Maybe it's because I never go out anywhere anymore. Since a few of us left Malaysia, we seem to find no reason in holding outings anymore. It's the damn exams.

Before anyone tells me I'm an ungrateful bitch for the way I am ranting, please have a look at your calendar and match it with the dates from previous months in my entries archives. It's that time of the month again. Shitfuck.

--
I think I've found a cure to my "rut". The answer was SO obvious. I just needed to induce some happiness in me. Drove out to 7-11 in SS14 after dinner and bought this!!

Wheee.. *chomp, chomp*. Of course I'm sharing it with my family. What, do I seem like a pig to you? Don't answer that.

Needing Help From Malaysians

Code red!!

My oldest cousin just messaged me on msn and asked, "So what have you got planned out for Pearl when we visit you guys this weekend?"

Crap crap! Pearl is my cousin's Hongkee girlfriend whom he met while studying in US. I am too bring her out and about to see the 'sights of Malaysia'.

I must be a very bad Malaysian. I can only think of Midvalley,KLCC, Timesquare..etc.etc. Can't I think of anything else besides shopping?

Too bad for me, she's saving her shopping for her trip back to Hong Kong though.

Was thinking of taking the KL monorail and go to palces like Bukit Bintang, KLCC..you know, the Golden Triangle. Will probably end the day with Petaling Street.

Anybody got any better ideas? Any ideas that doesn't involve me driving around KL!

I'm such a bad Malaysian.. -_-".

What Happened?

No wonder some people say it's not easy to maintain friends for life.

During one biology class, my mind drifted away to all the friends I used to click so well with back when I was a mere child.

There was the skinny lad of only 12 who sat next to me in class when I was a geeky prefect with pigtails and glasses and we'd laugh at our other friends and copy each other's homeworks. He was warm towards me. Was it because we had mutual friends? Was the only thing that kept us being friends the less than a metre distance that separated us everyday?

We went to the same secondary school. Richard was in my class briefly in form4 but we had friends of our own ever since form 1 and we just stopped talking as the years went by. I knew he came to my college but I'm not quite sure if he is still around. See? I wonder what happened and why we stopped being warm to each other.

What about the sweaty little boy who never stopped inviting me to come over to his house to play when we were 5 year olds? We would compare our heights to see if it was he or me who was the tallest in the class of intermediate kindergarten children. Chasing each other in the playground was so much fun. Genuine laughter.

We became classmates in form1 and we were so delighted to see that we can still recognise each other despite the pre-teens that we have grown into. Joash left my college last year too and we never even say more than Hello if we pass each other in the corridors. What happened there?

I had a neighbour who would play everything under the sun with me when I was 5 to about 8. We would play with dolls, masak-masak, explore-explore(involves running around the neighbourhood climbing into empty houses), doctor-doctor. We used to look forward to each play session and sleepover. Even though there were times when we hated each others' guts but as children are, all will be forgiven and forgotten. I have to admit there was a time when I particularly hated her guts and did something about it. The end result was that we never said more than a dismissive "oh hello" everytime we see each other. Even though Kelly only lives two houses away. I wish I was a nicer person.

Another neighbour who used to play fire with me around the neighbourhood...suddenly right after we both hit our teens, Melissa and I stopped saying hello properly. We don't run out to play with fire in the evenings. lol. I suppose we do grow up but *sigh*.

What about my childhood best friend whom I met in kindergarten and kept in constant contact with right up still form1? How did our interests and passion for polly pockets and beating my brother up(she was the only child) fail to sustain our friendship right up still our late teens? Yang Ching's also in Taylor's, doing A-Levels. We've been meaning to have lunch together but neither of us have taken the initiative to call for one. When we talk, there's this barrier that prevents us from being as comfortable with each other as before.

Obviously almost my entire class in standard 3 whom I used to be so close to stopped having friendly chats with me whenever they saw me around the school. I miss people like Wayne Adam, Poh Wei, Jin Yang, Jegan, Ambiga(saw her around college), Shariman, Tengku Huimin, Elaine Teh..etc..etc.. Same goes for my PTS gang. Jocelyn, Siew Li and Zachary.
Sigh.

I have concluded that among all these friends whom I have sort-of created a distance which have one common factor.

It was secondary school.

Though this doesn't exactly apply to all my primary school friends. Some of them are still chatty when we see each other online or offline. But that genuine connection with most of them is really lost.

It only took one year for my primary school friends to become distant. Two years have passed since secondary school and my best friends are still the ones I had from secondary school. Maybe these are my friends for life.

Must be maturity that keeps us all together. :)

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
