Blogging Impressions

During lunch today, Barry and I met up with Amanda at Success. Always up for a good dose of chicken porridge.

Amanda said that she was chatting to an RO friend of her's who is from KL and when he saw her msn picture which was a picture I once had on my blog of the three of us(Amanda,Me,Esther), he exclaimed, "HEY! I've read the girl in the picture's blog before!" So Amanda was going on about how incredibly small the world is while I sat there brimming with pride.

She used an example of some of the clubbers that she knows who are linked to each other and she cannot get over how well connected everyone is. It's like another Friendster all together. Then she started to contemplate if she could actually write a blog.

But I can see what will happen: Amanda will look high and low for the prettiest template, crack her head for the most interesting things to blog about, do a thorough research...etc. Just like the times she wanted to purchase a lava lamp(comparing quality, price, for a few months) or whatever it is she sets her heart upon it has to be of a certain particular (accurate) standard. This woman will go far.

Her reason being that she doesn't want her blog to give a crap impression of herself to her readers. It made sense.

Does the quality of a blog really gives a permanent impression of the blogger to her readers?

Alot of bloggers are judged for revealing too much about themselves. If you post a depressive post every now and then, do people tend to look at you in a different light? Do they forget who you are in person and relate everything you do/say as a person in real life to the things you blog about online?

Barry chipped in this thought: "I hate blogs who blog about their daily activies...ie. Today I woke up and went to college. etc.". Erp. I might be guilty of that. But I agree that there are blogs that are SO monotonous it just kills the meaning of blogging. Especially when they use L33t speak(the Malaysian kind eh?) and have their entire entry in one long paragraph WITH the smallest fonts possible. Oh lordy! For example: "U nv gona blif wat dat asshole...blabla..fark, fark..etc". If you are determined enough to blog, you should be determined enough to key in the rest of the alphabets. So do people who put in crap entries that totally echos with the lack of enthusiasm give the impression that they are nonchalant about whatever they do?

Amanda said that some blogs are trying to give the impression that they are so cool just because they go places and do things. It's like they cannot stop talking about what they did today, which place they went after that, before that, the next day, the following monday etc. Are they really trying to tell people that they have such a fun and hectic life?

Personally, I'm not too sure. I have to agree with Barry again when he said that you basically blog for yourself. Perhaps that's his motto.(Which explains the frequency of his updates). So when I said I agree, he said, "You care what people think!" and I was like, "Do I?" "Yea, you delete your entries,". Well, I have to. I am one who cannot stand making enemies with people. For example when Sher Lyn wanted me to remove this bit about her and the time when my cousin's friends wanted their pictures taken down. Oh well, you have to play by the rules sometime. You can't move as you like.

What makes a good blog is the blogger's ability to laugh at him/herself. For example Audrey. She is not ashamed of the embarassing situations that she somehow has the misfortune to end up in. It keeps us going back for more laughs on every other day. I suppose that's the way karma is eh? If you are an unfortunate person, you have good blogging material. Obviously it is also due to the blogger's narrating style which is of a good standard that got us hooked.

After hearing their thoughts, I can't help but wonder. What makes others' read me? How negative/positive is the impression that I am giving out?

Feverish Me

This will be a mind-numbing post. Because my mind is numb. *cue for charity laughter*

For the past three weeks or so, I've got this tensed sensation on the lower left part of my back. I suspect it is because of my constant lying-on-tummy position whilst propping myself up with my elbows on my bed as I play my computer/watch downloaded stuff. I am worried about having a slipped disc or something related to back problems. What I need is a nice long professional massage.

Just yesterday I woke up with a pounding headache. Roamed around the house like a zombie before deciding I was coming down with a fever. And I was right! My temperature measured 37.4 degrees celcius. Burning, I slipped into bed for half an hour before coming out again to read a few pages of biology. After another half an hour of sleep, I woke up to finish my photosynthesis chapter! Yay!

Soluble panadols can keep fever at bay. Plus sweating. Lots of sweating. Therefore, I decided to sleep without my aircon. After a while my entire back was soaked in sweat and I felt much better throughout the day as the fever has subsided. So much better, I even completed my vectors homework! 0_0 Stayed back to do my work though while my parents and my brother went out to Pyramid to catch Sepet. Surprisingly, all three of them cried!!

This morning I woke up with an even more painful headache. My head felt warm. My eyelids are heating up my eyeballs; I couldn't even bring myself to open my eyes outside where the sun is shining brightly. Intense lighting would just prove too much. Hot air propelled out of my nose and my left nostril is totally blocked. I felt like I could collapse anytime. Just before I was getting out of bed, I thought, "Shit, I have a constant headache." (and had a bit of a naughty thought if sex would still be on the cards in a situation like this- just to train myself to be nicer to my husband in my later years:P). But I also got worried because I remember cases where constant headaches are normally symptoms of brain tumour. I then started to imagine, what would happen if I had brain tumour? Obviously I'll start to cry and cry. Would I go for chemo? Would I be able to take the vomitting and hair-loss? I don't think so. So maybe I would just pray for an early death. I could probably get an operation done almost immediately and then request for one of the nurses to take photos for me using my faithful digital camera. A shot of my exposed brains. A shot of the ecg machine. A shot of them covering me up in that white sheet if anything goes wrong. Then a close family member or a friend can help upload the pictures on my blog. :) Ah.

Went for lunch at Holiday Villa and felt worse. No thanks to the cold temperature in the restaurant there. Mum said she was worried that it could be dengue. There was a write up in the papers today about dengue. Apparently I need to have a high fever, a rash, pains behind my eyes, nausea, vomitting, muscles and joints ache. So I started to imagine again what would happen if I had dengue. Imagine the time I'll waste in the hospital. Who would be kind enough to visit me in the hospital. Would it be a real pain in the ass to be down with Dengue? I think my fever is pretty mild since it just goes straight back to normal after a panadol. But it was quite bad, the pounding headache. Went to bed right after I got back and SUDDENLY there was an intense pain in my stomach. I tossed and turned hoping it would go away. I recognised this pain. It was the I-need-to-shit-or-else-I'll-vomit pain.

So there I was with my hands supporting my weight on the floor as I leaned forward in pain. Whenever I get moments like this, I can expect to sweat buckets. And we all know sweating helps a fever subside right? So the sweats formed and trickled down to the middle of my forehead and dripped to the floor. There were about 9 drops of sweat. Since I didn't tie my hair and my head was propped on my knees, my hair was like those kutu rock's style. Until now I can't comb it back to its original position. No thanks to the sweat. I wouldn't go into details about the quality of my waste products(as much as I want to) because David said I should not submit myself to such humiliation. Ahahaha.

Alright then, feeling better and hope to attempt some chemistry notes after dinner.

Justin's Birthday(and Mel's too!)

Firstly, Happy Belated Birthday to Mel and Justin!!

Before dance class, I sped over to Mel's place to pass her her birthday present! Esther and I got her the L'oReal Vitamino hair mask. Love the Vitamino hairmask. mmmmm.

Dance Class was abit congested. Three new students. *sigh*. Now there are 13 of us. At first it was just 7 of us.

Since Mel spent her birthday with her dear Vjay, we joined Justin for his birthday dinner at Salmon Steak! Thanks Justin for the dinner!

Last night was really a reunion of sorts! Besides the usual friends of Justin ie. Daryl, Gaya, Nadine, Jasmine, Chung Lern, Afiq, Huini, Pei Sze etc.etc.. there were others like Seow Yen, Woon, Priscilla, Chui San, Yi Wen etc. A bunch whom I haven't seen since school ended in 2003. They are all still very, very noisy.

I was surprised to find out that Mel and Vjay were also having their dinner at Salmon Steak!

As always when there are pictures, I will save the lot of you from my ramblings. Here goes:

l-r: Chung Lern, Huini, Mun Teng, Woon, Yi Wen

Chung Lern who is ever ready for the camera! seriously!

Camwhoring with Seow Yen!

Daryl doing a pose for me. I think he was counting the amount of people at the table.:)

l-r: Me, Esther and Afiq! Afiq was showing us the photos he took using his phone while he was doing a solo flight!! So cool!!! 2000 Ft up in the sky and he CAN take pictures of the landscape beneath with his camera phone! There was a video too!! And then he camwhored WHILE flying his plane!! COOOOOOL. He looked like Ron Ng(Isaac) from Triumph In The Skies in that picture he took!! All of us cannot wait for Afiq AND Yijin to graduate and become proper pilots.:) We don't want free flights, we just want to be flown by our own friends. How nice would that be?:)

Afiq was telling me about how crazy Yijin is. LOL. Apparently on Chap Goh Mei, Yijin and a few friends went looking for a river so that they can pick oranges that girls have thrown. LOL. They couldn't find a river! Hahahaha. Whereelse Daryl went to Port Klang and found an orange by the sea. There was a phone number on the orange! So Daryl smsed the number. The girl asked how old he was. He is actually 19 this year but he said he was 18. Then the girl who said she was 19, replied, "Sorry ar boy." HAhaahahahahaha. Just one year apart also cannot ar? Picky picky mandarin oranges throwers. LOL.

Goodness, even if I wanted to throw mandarin oranges into the river/sea I wouldn't be able to. There ain't no mandarin oranges that will not land in my tummy the moment I set my eyes upon it. I am the mandarin orange monster! I specialize in mandarin orange sweetness too:) Ask me one day and I'll teach you how to determine if the orange is sweet or not.

Okay, back to the picture..:P

l-r: Chui San, Seow Yen, Me, Esther

Just before Mel and Vjay left, they came over to say hello!

The birthday boy and me! Happy Belated Birthday, Justin!!

My god, this two people were talking half way to the people on their right and left respectively and when they saw my camera they immediately moved towards each other to give me this post. -_-;. Hahaha. A nice picture though!
l-r: Chung Lern and Huini

But of course, we HAVE to do one everytime we're together. My Esther dearest and me!

l-r: Me, Esther and Afiq.

Quite a number of people eh?

Gaya and me! It's been so long since I saw this woman:) Miss her noise.

l-r: jasmine, Nadine and Rachel.

Made friends with Daryl's coursemate, Ian. Very adorable lad. Gaya was pointing at me and saying, "This is Rachel," and she pointed at Rachel and said that Rachel was Jolene, and pointed at Jasmine and said, "this is Nadine," and pointed at Nadine and said, "and this is Jasmine.".. Hahaha. He looked so confused, so I stuck my hand out and said, "Hello I'm Jolene.." lol.

He wasn't looking the first time. Ahaha.

l-r: Me, Nadine, Gaya

The lovely couple: Rachel and Jonathan. Go away la Chung Lern! Shoo!!:D

Arif, Yi Wen and Chui San surprised Justin with a cake.

Awwwwwwwww.. look at the glow of the candles illuminating their happy faces.

Tsk, tsk, look at Chung Lern.

Another view of the people.

l-r: Mun Teng and Woon

There were a bunch of fit guys sitting behind the guy in yellow who sang along to justin's birthday song! Since they were so nice, Daryl brought some cake over to them!

Justin was given a huge candy!!:D Nolah, I'm not quite sure what it is.

My present to him! Sorry Justin, I only had Winnie The Pooh wrapping paper left.

He was still trying to figure out what it was.

"OH!! IT'S UNDERWEAR!!!" So cute right, at the crotch there's a logo that says, "Danger.". Hee.

An underwear in a jar intrigued many.

That'd be Daryl and Priscilla.

Soon after, Esther's dad fetched us back and we had a nice chat making plans to go to KLCC at 5am again like back in 2003 to get the new Harry Potter book! Whee!

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
