Downtime Hardcore

I am getting increasingly depressed.

Maybe I had too much fun back home and when all the fun things in life suddenly come to a halt, depression hits hard. This happened to me too when I was in national service. Suddenly, no more nights out. No more tv. No more internet.

I wish I have my own car here so I don't have to rely on my housemates to do petty things like making my phoneline/internet arrangements/buying snacks whenever i want/eating whatever I want.

I fucking wish for my laptop back.

Lishen's really kind to let me use her comp but she'll need to use her desk sometimes too. I'll be like blogging halfway and she's like, "Sorry Jolene, I need to use the table."

Of course I'm gracious about it. But I cannot help feeling so bloody down.

I go downstairs and face my (empty) study table and my stacks of notes that doesn't look at all appealing.

What can make me happy again?

I mean I've had the good fortune to have a computer of my own and go online whenever I want, whatever time of the day. And talk to all those who are dear to me. Sigh.

I just lost all my mood when my computer died. No chocolate can undo this misery.

Why oh why oh why oh why.

My dad's considering getting a hard disk from his friend's older Acer model(older model than mine!!) and putting it in mine. I am of course fine with whatever he offers me but I got so depressed to learn that I was downgrading.

I hope my brother can put in a good word for me and throw in some computer lingo that will help me with my plight.

I will NEED an external hard disk after this whole fiasco. Backup everything so no shit dares to splatter on me again.

Oh, did I mention that my laptop will only be fixed in three weeks? And did I mention that my hostel contract comes to an end in four weeks?

And that we want to shift out? And that you have to tell telecom a week in advance to remove the phone line and streamyx to install in your new place?

OH. and that we don't have a place to stay yet?

Fuck man.

The Vietnam Trip - Episode 2

The night before the Vietnam trip, dad said that he was bringing us on a dinner cruise. I'm like, "WAHh!!!" Was pretty hyped up about the place because I've heard of those really grand culinary delights they serve on these oriental type of ships cum restaurants. Many more photo opportunities.

It was okay la..nothing much to scream about. Real crappy entertainment on board(singers in tarty clothes who are older than my parents combined) and the only good part about the entire thing was some of my night shots and oh, this delicious plate of the most tender kangkung shoots that I've ever tasted. It's baby green and soft and just so kangkung-y. Too delicious, hence, forgot to take a snap shot.

While waiting for the cab outside our hotel, there were two mascots who were wishing the guests "Merry Christmas". Yup, I actually CAMWHORED with them. Hahaha.

Family photo..l-r: Grandma, Brother, Mum, Dad and Myself

Mum wanted one with the mascots as well.

Another one!

it was raining all night long but I managed this shot.

The steps up..

Grandma was getting bored..

Dad was filming every little bit of thing. Like father, like son, like daughter.

They have a few other floating restaurants... it looks pretty..and silly at the same time.

Another family photo.

We had dinner with Dad's company's General Manager of Asia Pasific Sales, Daniel. The guy's Malaysian but he's based in Vietnam for a few months and I think he came back to Malaysia last week because he needed to get his MyKad done.

Strange way of putting the food

Sweaty Santa Claus

We cruised near a harbour..

See the pretty lights?

We were heading back to the city again. I love the effect of the lights.

As it was Christmas eve, christmas paraphernalia everywhere!!

The night view from my room.

The Final Parts of 2005

I've connected my modem to Li Shen's computer and here I am, printing out all the notes I lost and blogging what I've procrastinated to blog about.

On the 30th of December LAST year, Justin, Chee Kiang, Daryl, Pei Sze and I took a spontaneous trip up to Genting at 9pm.

It felt so exhilarating when Daryl wound the windows down and the cold air rushed past my cheeks leaving my cheeks to feel like cold metal. As we approached the darker parts of the road up, I was astounded by how visible the stars were in the night sky. That's because we are high above the city and usually the lights from the city are brighter and you don't get to see a clear night sky like this often. I was just putting my head out of the car going, "ooooooohhhhhhhh.....!"

We arrived at the peak at about 11pm and beneath the glow of every streetlamp, you could see the illuminated mist rushing up the sides of the streetlamp. It was a coldddd night.

Can you believe we went all the way up just to have a cup of coffee at Coffeebean?!

Daryl striking a pose while waiting for Justin's car to catch up.

Chee Kiang and I at Coffeebean

These mad people ordered Ice Blended for that extra kick. The hot chocolate's mine by the way. :)

Nice photo! But my EYES. WHY DO I ALWAYS TO BE LIKE THIS WITH THE CAMERA.

A cable car entering the Highlands hotel.

Can you see how misty it was outside?

We took a stroll down to First World. This was on one of the many escalators down. Oh god, my eyebags. Genting would be the 3rd night out of four nights that I've returned home at 2.00am.

Saw some nasty looking chocolate coated strawberries that was just downright disturbing. Can you see what I saw? We have to be on the same wavelength to get it, dude..

I love mist!!

Camwhoring.

Pei Sze and I!

Now on to how I spent my new year's eve..

Ck and I had dinner at Subang Parade before heading down to KL Sentral to "decide where to go". We were torn between Bukit Bintang or KLCC. The roads were surprisingly relatively clear that night as we made our down to KL Sentral.

There were guards ensuring that traffic between the trains were smooth. It did not even feel like New Year's eve! Everything was so organised!

We ended up in KLCC and spent the better part of the night chilling at Coffeebean and analyzing every single detail in Juice(the magazine) and we now have a good idea of where to check out the next time we go out. :) Speaking in cantonese to kutuk a bunch of rowdy non-cantonese speaking family sitting behind us and coming to a conclusion that peppermint candy cane is not very nice.

We lepaked at Coffeebean until about 11.30pm before making our way down to the park. Ohmigod, double chin. *scribbles in New Year's resolution list*

One of my best shots of the twin towers!

A view from Coffeebean's window. Those are human beings down there!

So cute..got people sitting on top of the tiny hill.

I wanted balloons pretty badly because I've always had a penchant for helium balloons.

We were actually searching and searching for helium balloons but could not find any.

"Will you be okay if we really can't find balloons?" Ck asked.

"Haiyoh, of course la. You think I'll cry issit?" I said.

"Ya!"

"Com'n, I'm 18 already!"

"O-kayy!" he was doubtful. LOL.

The crowd was getting excited when the fireworks started. OH yes! Bumped into Joshua there as well!

The beginnings..

I should stop captioning every picture and just leave it to speak for itself.

New Year's eve paraphernalia!

After the fireworks, the city was left looking smokey.

We finally found balloons!! Yay!! Hahaha. Ck bought me five balloons!

A stairway of balloons!

My five balloons! Hahaha. So happy I was like the only one walking around with that amount.

Going home was so fun because it was jam packed in the LRT. I mean when you experience the sardine tin effect once a year it is quite fun actually.. I was not the only crazy one bringing balloons in. hehe.

I walked past the guard at the ticketing counter and he was like, "Moi arrr..mana boleh bawah masuk dalam, banyak orang ooo!" Haha.. and I was like, "hehe, boleh laaa.."

Me and my many balloons!

As you can see, one of my new year's resolution would be to clean my room.

Hi, my name is Jolene and if there is a question in your head, this answer will definitely answer it: I was wrong and irrational. I was being a woman.

Jolene Lai, Jolene Lai,
Came to life in January and not July,
She is 19 years of age,
Can't wait to earn her own wage,
This dental student is home sick,
Will never be in Kedah for more than three weeks.

Subang Jaya is where she's from,
The only place she'll ever call home.
Has a boyfriend, a brother and a dog,
The things she says can give you a shock.

Especially for her father, who always gets a heart attack when he reads this blog.

Hey, rhymes!
